Not a chance in hell will I be putting my X next to a party led by him.

[quote SylvanianFrenemies]I don't have a dossier here! But look at the trial coverage. Sexual contact and a "sleepy cuddle" on a bed with 2 separate junior colleagues. Grabbing someone by the wrists and "joking" they could recreate an image of a kissing couple. Repeatedly touching a junior team member's hair. Other incidents of uninvited touching. "Accidental" kiss on the mouth. And this is just what he has openly admitted. If you had a senior figure in any setting behaving like this no-one would think it ok.

And you trust the press? The press bias towards the UK Government. Im not so sure personally.

I won't vite for the SNP as they are now. They have become a broken party who are so distant from their origins as to be almost unrecognisable. Having more opposition may bring change within the snp or it may signal the end and the rise of a new party. Either way, for many women it would be a sad thing. I eould need to look into the policies of Alba, I am happy to see another party join the SIP at least I have somewhere I can put my vote. Anyway, we shall see after May what the public feel.

happygolurkey · 27/03/2021 19:48

I don't agree the list MSPs are any less valid than the constituency ones, or any less representative of what the people think, and I don't think parties are "scraping by" by getting MSPs via the list. That's kind of the point!

Absolutely, I agree. I've maybe not articulated myself properly - I think I was trying to get inside the mind of Johnson there and how he might see it (what a horrible thought!!)

I certainly don't think list MSP's are any less valid and agree that's the whole point of our system. I just wonder if that's how Johnson might frame it, in saying a indie ref isn't justified? Like saying to the SNP - 'getting in on the back of list MPs isn't enough - it needs to be an out and out constituency majority before I'll accept you have a mandate to call for another referendum.' As I say, I may be way off here - not even entirely sure what his criteria would be for allowing another ref.' Just speculating if that might be an excuse for not allowing one.....?
Problem is I'm shooting in the dark here as there's so much at the moment we just don't know...

Ah yes - I see what you mean! Well, I think although we have different opinions on independence I'm totally, completely on board with you in thinking BJ is an utter tosser who shouldn't be allowed control of his toaster, let alone the various nations of the UK.
Itawapuddytat · 27/03/2021 20:15

Nope, I will not vote for him.

blowinahoolie · 27/03/2021 20:27

MacAskill has switched alliances...this is just the start of it😂

SempreSuiGeneris · 27/03/2021 22:55

Another interesting angle on the twittersphere. If Alba do get List seats are there SNP constituency MSPs who would be tempted to defect once in Holyrood rather than stay aligned to NS?

BlackForestCake · 28/03/2021 00:11

Neale Hanvey has defected. Alba now has two MPs.

blowinahoolie · 28/03/2021 09:08

As I said, watch this space - more will show loyalty to Salmond. They have just been waiting on the right moment.

SidSparrow · 28/03/2021 09:35

@haggistramp

If alba are on the list in my region they will get vote. I'm an independence supported but quite frankly sick of snp, is particular nicola sturgeon and her cabal.

Same here! I can't wait to vote for him.

Those questioning his conduct - he was found NOT guilty, NOT guilty. If you look at the allegations it is amazing how utterly ridiculous it is. The best they could get on him was a drunken fumble, both parties drunk, both parties conscented. The next day they both regretted it, he apologised for his abuse of power in that colleagues in higher positions should not be covorting with colleagues in lesser positions. She accepted the apology. She was offered a different role, same level of responsibilty and same pay, she declined and kept working alongside him for years. It was only when the SNP went on a fishing exercise that she changed her story to say he tried to get in her pants but she refused. Oh my! A man in a drunken fumble trying to take it further! Hardly makes him a rapist.

As for the chumped up charge of attempted rape, the woman was proven not to even be in the same building that night.

The only thing to see here is an SNP government abusing it's power right, left and centre, whilst talking a good game and delivering absolutley nothing.

(excuse my spelling - typed in a hurry!! Halo)

MarieDelaere · 28/03/2021 12:34

Just seen this on BBC News online (I'm in England):

So far, the new party has attracted those who empathise with Alex Salmond and his desire for a bigger focus on securing Scottish independence.

With Neale Hanvey and former SNP councillor Lynne Anderson joining today, Alba also appears to be a home for those who fear that gender self-identification for trans people poses a threat to women's rights.

The strongest voice for this argument within the SNP is MP Joanna Cherry who was recently dumped from the party's front bench but she has rejected speculation about her defection.

Brunt0n · 28/03/2021 13:06

Neale Harvey is another creep joining the pervert party then

SempreSuiGeneris · 28/03/2021 13:28

BurntOn unless the SNP are jettisoning Grady and his fellow travellers that narrative doesn't wash. And where are we Covid Margaret?

skeemee · 28/03/2021 21:51

No. He disgusts me. Bloody sex pest! Got away with admitting to inappropriate behaviour, still won’t even apologise when pressed. Keeps repeating “the highest court in the land found me not guilty”. I think he is deeply misogynistic and unfit for public office.

I’m no SNP or NS supporter, but was extremely dismayed that a woman in high office was possibly going to have to resign because of actions carried out by a slimy little man. Yuck! A sleepy cuddle? He was a pushy boss putting younger women under pressure in an inappropriate manner.

Most folk would be embarrassed to have that reputation in the workplace and disappear with their head bowed. Not the bold Alex! He has an extremely high opinion of himself.

I hope nobody votes for him. Especially women!!

Vetyveriohohoh · 28/03/2021 21:59

Just when I thought there was no party I was less likely to vote for than SNP

WisnaeMe · 28/03/2021 23:25

I will Vote for him.

TheGlassBlowersDaughter · 29/03/2021 01:58

I wouldn't vote for AS as an individual but I'll vote for the Alba Party. They seem to know what a woman is which automatically makes them preferable to the SNP; the Greens; the LibDems and Labour.

This is a positive for Scottish women because the SNP either need to dig in their heels about TWAW which will increase support for Alba or the SNP need to start backpedalling. Either way, how you define woman will become a political hot potato and that means more publicity on how most parties are selling women down the river.

LizzieMacQueen · 29/03/2021 07:24

How do you pronounce Alba?

BBC say AL - A - BA

Thought it was a simple AL - BA

SempreSuiGeneris · 29/03/2021 07:40

AS and co can use any pronunciation they like. It's not up to the BBC. It sounded like Alba when he did his Party announcement.

Of course it's going to sound different because there are multiple dialects and accents in Scotland. There are only about 1% native Gaels and Alba doesn't even have Gaelic origins.

Just don't get into debates about Lamont vs Laamont etc etc or Mari vs Mary. Graham Norton on Friday was a scream re Liam and son.

BlackForestCake · 29/03/2021 07:52

Apparently in Gaelic it's pronounced A-luh-pa, as thousands of middle-class English-speakers who also only discovered this yesterday are keen to point out.

LizzieMacQueen · 29/03/2021 08:22

Thanks @BlackForestCake , that'll explain what I'm hearing.

SempreSuiGeneris · 29/03/2021 08:31

That explains house prices in Linlithgow then. Grin

fioreun · 29/03/2021 08:38

Tommy Sheridan has now joined Alba. The party for sex pests, rascists and perjurers :-(

TheGlassBlowersDaughter · 29/03/2021 09:20

Every party has racists, sex pests and perjurers in their membership. But iirc correctly, it's only the Tories that have had them all in their Cabinet.
