Agree no online booking is bonkers for the age groups now being done.
I will be back at work in few weeks which will make an appointment time slot tricky as I’m out of town three days a week and the other two days I can’t just leave work for the appointment, it would require cover.

If I could go on and book then it will be simple but rescheduling will be a pain I imagine

RaspberryCoulis · 13/04/2021 08:31

I am assuming they allocate appointments based on where you live - your postcode. All fine, but DH and I both drive. We could easily get from here to the Hydro, or Stirling, or Greenock, or pretty much anywhere in west central Scotland. We would be happy to take a 7am appointment, or a 10pm one, or on a Sunday when public transport isn't running.

But I haven't got the option to log onto the website and see if DH and I can take appointments this week at some out of the way location, inaccessible by public transport which nobody else wants.

ResilienceWanker · 13/04/2021 08:46

I agree about the booking thing. It is crazy, especially now when more people will be working away from home, possibly some distance from home, and not necessarily as flexible as they have been with timings for appointments. Even my GP gives an option of times that are suitable now! Though, to be fair, at the moment all the UK is pretty much on a par in terms of numbers of jabs done, which surprises me. So it's not a case that loads of appointments are being missed in Scotland because they're at times people can't make. I suppose we're just rejigging our lives to make them, rather than making things easier for us as England is doing.

Mind you, if we'd been on an island, we'd get our 75 year olds up at 3.30am to get the only bus to the vaccination centre, hang around outside in the snow all day for the returning bus AND BE GRATEFUL FOR IT. We're just being pathetic whining softies by saying things are being made needlessly difficult for us. Grin

Update at 12. Possible earlier reopening for some mental well-being whatever that means

The pubs!!
titsintiers · 13/04/2021 10:44

You can go to the pub on the fourth Monday of every month, on an even date. So long as you are accompanied by someone called Hamish.

titsintiers · 13/04/2021 10:51

Actually, it's probably more likely to be gyms isn't it.

dancemom · 13/04/2021 10:51

I thought maybe more people allowed to meet up outdoors?

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 13/04/2021 10:51

@titsintiers 😂😂 it's going to be some random batshit thing we can do with mental hoops to jump through. I'm praying for gyms 🤞

latissimusdorsi · 13/04/2021 11:03

It's probably more meet outdoors, 3 households?
Or Maybe it's soft playGrin

ResilienceWanker · 13/04/2021 11:21

Ooooh. I'll be first in line for soft play if it's that! Just me, not DS. Even the germ and snot infested ball pool sounds appealing just now. Not as appealing as the pub, mind you. Though, in reality, it's not going to be either of those things, is it?! Fingers crossed for gyms, cos then swimming might start again...

Scottishskifun · 13/04/2021 11:42

@dancemom

Probably whilst we watch the news of shops, pubs and interactions!

Would love it if she surprises me with indoor swimming pools being allowed DS has missed his swimming so much!

dancemom · 13/04/2021 11:51

I don't think gyms or swimming, these places will have been working towards 26 April as an opening date and lots wouldn't be able to bring it forward

OP posts:
ResilienceWanker · 13/04/2021 11:55

True. But then the blame will be passed onto the businesses/ councils for "not being able to get their act together" , and not the magnanimous and caring SG... Hmm (cynical? Me?)

TeenTraumaTrials · 13/04/2021 12:21

Good news from NS - travel restrictions to end on Friday and people will be allowed to meet in groups of up to six adults from six households in outdoor settings. I can finally take my 12+ (age, not number!) kids to see their grandparents legally for the first time since August.

dancemom · 13/04/2021 12:22

And we can travel Scotland wide for outdoor visits and exercise also

Scottishskifun · 13/04/2021 12:31

I'm glad to finally hear a commited date for unicorn border going!

Icannever · 13/04/2021 12:33

I’m quite excited but I will need to visit my in laws now 😂

TeenTraumaTrials · 13/04/2021 12:38

@Scottishskifun

Hmm - not sure it's travel outwith Scotland. I think it's just no restrictions within Scotland. But in reality .......
Scottishskifun · 13/04/2021 12:43

@TeenTraumaTrials they stated the 26th of April for rUK travel before they hadn't fully commited to it and gave a or as soon after response on many occasions

Icannever · 13/04/2021 12:43

They said 26th April for travel to England and Wales so very soon now

riverrunning · 13/04/2021 12:44

But why hasn't the date for rUK travel been confirmed?

Even if it wasn't officially allowed this Friday why is there no absolutely confirmed date for people with relatives and friends in RUK?

WouldBeGood · 13/04/2021 12:44

Does Scottish self catering open then too? Otherwise everyone will be heading over the border for trips

riverrunning · 13/04/2021 12:45

Did they say that today? All they have said was 'as close to 26 April as possible' prior to today which isn't a firm date.

Scottishskifun · 13/04/2021 12:45

@riverrunning

They have now said 26th of April thankfully!
