I doubt it, given that their justification in the first place was to open in stages so that, if a rise in cases comes, it can be traced to one change or another.

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 15:05

Just open up!!!!!

randomsabreuse · 12/04/2021 15:15

Just allow some travel, that would be so much better. Then we could meet up with friends in other counties.

Hospitality and shopping would be nice, although I'm pretty convinced my 2 would not make a meal out a pleasant experience (would be removed to car so really shit for one parent) but just being able to go somewhere else would make my life so much better.

(My few local friends are very much following the rules because job expectations so can't go and meet up with them regardless)

RaspberryCoulis · 12/04/2021 15:20

Daily moan.

Cases have been under 5% test positivity since 22nd February. Latest figure is 1.8%.

154 people in hospital - same as at the beginning of October.

Around 250 cases reported on Friday, same as September.

95% of everyone aged over 55 has had their first jab.

Remind me again why we're still caged within our local authority areas, unable to meet inside, unable to go to non-essential shops to buy clothes or shoes for our children, can't have a coffee in a cafe with a friend? Remind me again why English school children had 3 full weeks full time in school before Easter and ours had 2 periods a week? Remind me again why Alton Towers is open today, why Welsh people can travel to the beach and have a walk in the sunshine?

Oh yes, because we have power mad idiot Sturgeon at the helm. There is just NO JUSTIFICATION for what they are doing right now.

latissimusdorsi · 12/04/2021 15:20

I think @dancemom is right. They want to see what happens with schools opening 1st. Lot of councils don't go back until next week

user1487194234 · 12/04/2021 15:34

It is pure politicking by the SG,no justification whatsoever.

UnderHisAye · 12/04/2021 15:50

I think it's a real shame that we're in the pre-election period now with no briefings. I think with daily questioning they'd have been forced into a rethink.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 12/04/2021 15:57

Trade bodies are, not surprisingly, becoming vocal. Eg, hotelier in Lockerbie pointing out that locals can and will go over the border to eat & drink. I hope all affected sectors have been pestering the SG regularly throughout. I know I would have!
But I suppose public questioning at a briefing is harder to ignore (or would be if the questions were in any way useful).

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 17:36

No one ever asked these questions at the briefings of doom though.

And any questioning was just brushed off, as she does.

UnderHisAye · 12/04/2021 17:53

I would've paid GOOD money to see just one citizen journalist session.

RaspberryCoulis · 12/04/2021 18:35

Yes, the Boris sessions always kicked off with two members of the public. I know one of the people whose question was featured - she is an ordinary person, not a plant or a member of any political party. (Boris totally did the usual alas and flannel and didn't answer her).

But I would definitely be up for asking Saint Nicola just what the actual fuck she thinks she's playing at.

I totally agree! There is hardly any difference between cases/ hospitalisations and so on across the UK now, yet we've got another fortnight (at least) of closures. It just doesn't make sense to me, and loads of people I've spoken to, and I'm sure, in her heart of hearts it doesn't make sense to NS either.

The various shop emails I've been getting today have been seriously pissing me off too. It's all "lovely to see you again (except for customers in Scotland)"... I know it's not a huge amount of time in the grand scheme of things, but the national mood just seems so upbeat today, and once again, I'm in a bit of a grump.

But in good news, doorstop canvassing for the election is allowed again from today. Which is basically as good as a browse round primark and an outdoor pint.

😂😂😂

Pootle40 · 12/04/2021 20:29

I've also been pissed off with all the coverage. Yesterday the Daily Mail referred to Britain preparing to open up tomorrow......eh you forgot that one country of Britain is most definitely not opening up?!

Our shops, gyms, pubs and restaurants should also be open now but it won't happen.

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 20:32

I’m feeling hard done by too. This is just posturing, unsupported by evidence and I’m sick of it

StarryEyeSurprise · 12/04/2021 20:32

Actually two - NI is more 'closed' than Scotland but of course 'Britain' really equals England in the press!

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 20:37

NI is insane.

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 20:37

The lockdown I mean

Scottishskifun · 12/04/2021 21:28

Weird retained fact from school geography.... Britain doesn't include Northern Ireland, United Kingdom does.

But yes agree on the English bit!

RaspberryCoulis · 13/04/2021 08:08

And more again on BBC Breakfast... great news! We've done so well on vaccine that 45-49 year olds can now book their vaccine online!

Except not in Scotland, where there is no online booking, and you have to wait for Saint Nicola to grant your appointment via blue envelope. (I am one of the 45-49 year olds DESPERATE for the sodding vaccine).

forfucksakenett · 13/04/2021 08:13

Well it looks like it's coming soon @RaspberryCoulis so surely that's great news 👍🏻

Scottishskifun · 13/04/2021 08:19

@RaspberryCoulis my friend in England is involved in the vaccine roll out at her hospital. She couldn't believe it when I said there was no online booking system available and you had to wait for a blue envelope!

Even more frustrating for me is that I have to wait for the blue envelope, then contact the reschedule line and wait for a slot appointment at a bigger vaccination centre as I can't have the AZ vaccine due to medical history (confirmed with the vaccination line) and then have to wait another few weeks for a appointment...... 🙄

Booking system I would simply log on and pick the bigger vaccination centre! Envy

titsintiers · 13/04/2021 08:21

That's nuts @Scottishskifun

RaspberryCoulis · 13/04/2021 08:23

I think as they get further down the age groups there is less and less justification for not having online booking. I can see the argument that for an 85 year old without access to the internet, a letter is the best option. But it's SO frustrating to be sitting here waiting for the fecking letter when my sister in England can log in and book hers, at a time and location of her choosing.

Scottishskifun · 13/04/2021 08:26

Yep it's massively frustrating I even asked our health board vaccination line is there a way they could just send me an appointment directly for the larger hub given they confirmed I can't have AZ....... Nope we are unable to do that in advance. Great 🙄
