It turns out that I'm more invested in this than I thought, and that post made my stomach do that lurchy thing hadenough! Grin But the main one on St Helens Square is advertising and pre booking for opening on the 17th May (and Harrogate too)- and the others are opening but not booking then. I think there's a tiny cafe/ shop on stonegate too and that looks like it may have closed- though the shop is still opening. Sad Turns out there's also one in ilkley, which I didn't know #summertearoomgoals

rookiemere · 10/04/2021 21:09

It looks as if the York one is temporarily closed, I hope so anyway as I've got my hands on a menu online and discovered they do a brown bread ice cream sundae with toffee sauce and chopped nuts #lifegoals.

tiredoftiers · 10/04/2021 21:43

I am now wondering how I can factor in a trip this year that takes me close to a Betty’s.

rookiemere · 11/04/2021 09:26

I was discussing this with DH and he remembers going to Bettys tearoom in York many years ago, so now we're both looking forward to it. This is about as excited as I've allowed myself to get about any aspect of our summer holidays.

WouldBeGood · 11/04/2021 09:33

There was an in-depth section on Betty’s on Remarkable Places to Eat on the BBC recently. I found out what a fat rascal is 😃 Though I am shocked by the use of marzipan in fondant fancies 🤢

reprehensibleme · 11/04/2021 09:41

Betty's fat rascals are my Desert Island food.

Mistressinthetulips · 11/04/2021 09:52

Can you all stop talking about Bettys or there'll be no bookings free until Christmas! Grin

@HadEnoughOfBears it looks like there is another one in York unless they are both the same place www.bettys.co.uk/cafe-tea-rooms/our-locations/bettys-york ?

latissimusdorsi · 11/04/2021 14:15

Wow England did over half a million vaccines yesterday! Impressive

UnderHisAye · 11/04/2021 14:32

Wow so they did!

My parents and ILs have all been given their second dose a month earlier than planned, so I'm glad for them.

Haudyourwheesht · 11/04/2021 19:13

My ILs have been done. Parents should be soon then DM's throwing caution to the wind, a decision I am wholeheartedly supporting. (Especially if it involves babysitting.) Grin

UnderHisAye · 12/04/2021 09:00

Good luck anyone with kids going back to school today Smile

I've just got mine out of the door and am enjoying a coffee in blissful silence. If it wasn't 2 degrees I might even have sat outside listening to the birds.

dancemom · 12/04/2021 10:37

Mines not back till next Tuesday but her week is full of supported study classes both online and In school and esgoil online classes too

speedtalker · 12/04/2021 14:48

Thanks @dancemom.... do we think there is any chance things might relax before the 26th? These numbers must be better than planned for. When's NS next doing any announcement?

goldengoldfish · 12/04/2021 14:51

Surely they could bring things forward based on the stats ...data not dates, right?GrinHmm

Bahahaha I think we all know the reality of this one they will use the highest level area possible as justification for not!
dancemom · 12/04/2021 15:02

As much as I'd love to think, never going to happen! They will use the excuse that schools are going back this week and next so they need to see if that has an effect 🙄
