Yeah its a mixed bag throughout Europe, a lot of countries have implemented restrictions but we aren't the only nation that has continued without interruption. I'm not massively informed on the political factors though.

It isn't ridiculous if that is how you feel. I'm probably still at the chewing off arm stage though!

Icannever · 06/04/2021 15:37

My sister and her husband in Yorkshire have just got appointments for their vaccines for this week and they are in their early to mid 40s. No underlying health conditions. Meanwhile in Fife we’ve just stopped now we’ve done over 50s

Mistressinthetulips · 06/04/2021 15:39

The omnicalculator is going back a few days every time I check for dh..
Having just got my AZ vaccine I think I need to stick my fingers in my ears and go lalala every time it's mentioned on the news just now.

Perihelion · 06/04/2021 19:22

It seems to be 51 and 52 year olds getting their vaccines in Edinburgh this week, judging by my pals and DH.

Rae36 · 06/04/2021 20:42

A few days ago I would have chewed your arm off for it but now I'm a bit jittery which is ridiculous

Me too, also feeling a bit ridiculous, I've been taking the pill for years and the blood clot risk there is much higher

1.5% is just brilliant!

rookiemere · 07/04/2021 20:13

It's so good to see the cases properly come down. I keep waiting for the post Easter weekend blip, but it doesn't seem to be coming. Even if it does it's too late secondary schools are already opening.

Thanks @dancemom those are good figures. We are well on the way to no deaths again. I can't believe we don't open up till the 26th it still feels so long away

latissimusdorsi · 08/04/2021 14:21

Numbers looking very promising, particularly the deaths. That'll be all the Easter weekend lag in figures caught up now too. And vaccines picking up again

speedtalker · 08/04/2021 14:46

I had need to go to a property a distance away from our council area, where we've been sticking to religiously since ordered to. Been putting off, as the idea of having to defend my reasons for being away making me so nervous.

Anyway- went....and the number of people I saw, second homes occupied, and being told of other people visiting and staying out of their local areas... I'm starting to wonder that this stay local 'lockdown lax' is really only being held up by people like us who were ignorant that so many are just going whereever they want (and behaving sensibly).

But just getting out of my local council for a while...bliss. Really needed it.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 08/04/2021 14:51

@speedtalker I will say it's only on here I see people still sticking to the rules. Retail park at our bit is rammed every weekend. Folk in and out of each other's houses.

My nurse friend invited me over for drinks this weekend. I think it's got to the point people are just doing their own thing with the exception of stuff that's closed.

Haudyourwheesht · 08/04/2021 15:06

I've actually been quite surprised that the rural area where my sis stays has been very quiet. We thought about visiting but decided against it, but apparently it's remained quiet - no self catering, very few second home owners.

speedtalker · 08/04/2021 15:10

I think as you say, it's stuff being shut keeping numbers down. It's so annoying, that travelling a little further afield could help people's mh so much, and if done sensibly won't spread any potential infection, yet so many are fearful of doing so.

Although I think now the genie's out the bottle. Now I know that it's very unlikely anyone will care if you're further away, and I'm telling people that, it's going to spread, it's encouraging others to get out there. It's obvious our neighbours are away this week (nothing to do with me though! I think everyone feels they have to do it on the sly). One of the reasons I went was after moaning about it to some friends, it turned out a whole bunch of them were going far and wide visiting family over Easter. Started to feel like a bit of a mug.

And having politicians skip around the country for photo ops makes a mockery of locking the rest of us down.

Bytheloch · 08/04/2021 15:21

Ssshh, don’t let everyone else know that the majority of us are not staying in council cages and mostly travelling more than the arbitrary 5 miles out of there too AND maybe meeting up with other responsible adults who don’t reside in our area, for the sake of our sanity...as there will be
no bribes nothing left for the FM to announce a week before the election otherwiseGrinWink

Does anyone know an easy place to find out about procedures for essential travel from Scotland to Africa? It's to visit a dying parent.

You would have to check foreign office website there is also a form for travel and you need a negative test within 72 hours prior to the flight but you also need to check the country you are travelling to and the rules surrounding it.

Many countries have banned arrivals from the UK

UnderHisAye · 08/04/2021 17:45

I don't know about going but a friend of mine had to travel to SA recently due to a bereavement, and I know she had to quarantine at Heathrow for 10 days on her return.

forfucksakenett · 08/04/2021 17:49

Sorry @titsintiers no actually knowledge but I hope you or they get to go. Thanks

titsintiers · 08/04/2021 19:00

Thanks @forfucksakenett @UnderHisAye @Scottishskifun hopefully I can figure something out.

forfucksakenett · 08/04/2021 19:01

Fingers crossed for you. 🤞🏻 I've kind of been there. It's an added stress you just don't need. I hope there's a way for you!

dancemom · 09/04/2021 10:18

Feeling very frustrated, low numbers yet no chance of anything being brought forward before the next review in 3 weeks. Seems such a waste
