That's the lowest numbers in aaaaages Smile

Low numbers of testing too mind, but not the lowest number of tests in ages so this is making me hopeful that vaccinations are having more and more effect. The numbers will likely be higher on Wednesday but fingers crossed this is still a trend after the post old -firm match spike.

fluffyugg · 05/04/2021 15:07

The numbers of cases are looking so good, are they being reported as normal over the holiday weekend? Hope so as that's the lowest in a while and they seem to be falling quite quickly over the last week or so Smile

rookiemere · 05/04/2021 15:13

There's usually a reduction over weekend in infections so I'd imagine due to BH weekend Wed/Thu might be quite high, but she'll need to make the schools announcement before that tomorrow.

Cismyfatarse · 05/04/2021 16:45

Vaccine centres across Fife are working very much shorter hours. DH works there now and has had shifts cut back considerably with the focus last week and this week on 2nd Pfizer jabs for NHS.

It was cracking along and now it seems so slow. I know it is partly supply but he was surprised not to get his usual Monday shift "because it is a bank holiday". We can't really understand why they are not working every possible day.

It all feels, suddenly, a bit relaxed which is shit if you have not yet had your 1st dose.

HadEnoughOfBears · 05/04/2021 17:11

I had my first dose yesterday and I have never felt so ill in my life.
Worse than when I had suspected Covid in March last year.
I'm seriously reconsidering getting the 2nd dose.

And the EICC in Edinburgh was certainly not working to capacity.

Cismyfatarse · 05/04/2021 17:14

I was exhausted after my first dose. I felt jetlagged and utterly knackered.

I gather dose 2 is much lighter on side effects.

Icannever · 05/04/2021 18:20

I’m still tired a couple of weeks after my first dose of AZ. But its not too bad .

Was a cold cold day outside meeting up with the kids friends today. Still trying to warm up. And had the coldest windiest bbq ever last night 😀

Mistressinthetulips · 05/04/2021 18:33

I also had mine yesterday and have been in bed all day. I would say each time I've taken paracetamol I've perked up a bit, so worth a shot if you haven't already.

mondaywine · 05/04/2021 18:59

Glad to see numbers going down. So frustrated to hear people saying and seeing vaccine centres slowing down. Im a 46 year old teacher and getting that desperate feeling as to whether I’m ever going to be vaccinated. Classes in schools around me are isolating left, right and centre

Scottishskifun · 05/04/2021 19:19

Confused I have to wait 4 weeks now even if I get a vaccination appointment letter through the post apparently!

Despite being very ill for 12 days and still recovering in bed I actually feel like a massive weight off having caught covid!

That sounds bizarre but I've spent nearly 12 months trying to protect my son from getting it etc and he didn't have a single symptom! I will deal with whatever fall out for me and slowly recover but knowing I have the antibodies now for a couple of months at least feels like I can stop being in fight or flight mode with it all! Either that or covid has sent me bananas! 😂

ResilienceWanker · 06/04/2021 11:32

Is it today the full time school return will be confirmed - fingers crossed?

Glad case numbers are decreasing (though presuming there will be a bit of an increase later in the week after delays in reporting etc caused by the long weekend)... though not so good vaccine numbers are, even though it was predicted. I'm also a bit worried that all the negative publicity on the AZ clot risk thing will discourage people from getting second doses, which may also delay rollout of first doses to the under 50s. I know safety is paramount, but I really don't think there is a significant risk, or it would have been picked up before now - and definitely not as much a risk as from other medication, or even covid. I just want things to move as quickly as they can so there's no excuse not to stick to the dates in the roadmap!!

Statement at 12pm

dancemom · 06/04/2021 12:14

The first minister confirms that a further 259 people have tested positive for Covid – which is 2% of the tests carried out yesterday.
This takes the total number of positive cases in Scotland to 220,493.
There are 196 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19, a decrease of 19 since before the Easter weekend, and 21 people are in intensive care, which is the same as before the weekend.
There have been no more deaths recorded in the past 24 hours of people who tested positive in the previous 28 days.

All pupils returning FT apart from those who are shielding, until the 26th April.

Scottishskifun · 06/04/2021 12:49

Did anyone catch what JL said about the AZ vaccine for women 30ish? The BBC cut out!

ResilienceWanker · 06/04/2021 13:04

Yay! I suppose with the numbers as they have been, and reopening of other things it would be difficult to have it otherwise, but it's great to have it confirmed.
florafoxtrot · 06/04/2021 13:15

Really positive numbers again today, hopefully its the vaccines making a real difference and not just the hangover from the holiday weekend.

Pleased to hear that the first doses of Moderna have arrived too.

dancemom · 06/04/2021 14:31

Crikey those vaccination numbers are direConfused
Let's hope it's just cos of Easter weekend

Cismyfatarse · 06/04/2021 14:42

It is because of low (lumpy?) supplies.

DH did 52 hours last week and has only got 14 this week. He is on a contracted number of hours but is to do "training" for the other hours for the next couple of weeks.

florafoxtrot · 06/04/2021 15:00

Do they have any indication of when the supplies will increase again @Cismyfatarse?

That is a lot of hours last week for your DH!

forfucksakenett · 06/04/2021 15:05

Do we think that they are going to pause AZ to the under 55s like so many other countries have now? Is this part of the reason for the slowing?

I'm wondering if they're going to use the Moderna jabs for the next age brackets.

My mum is almost 55, she had the AZ just over a week ago and has had a headache most days since Confused.

God I hope not.
forfucksakenett · 06/04/2021 15:23

I just wonder what other countries are actually using it. It isn't yet approved in America, and most European countries seem to have modified or restricted its use in some way.

I know that there are other potential factors at play as well but surely it can't be all political?

A few days ago I would have chewed your arm off for it but now I'm a bit jittery which is ridiculous.
