StarryEyeSurprise You do realise that the SNP want Scotland back in the Erasmus scheme?

No way? As a university lecturer, former Erasmus student and someone who clearly keeps up with politics, thank goodness you're around to point out the obvious Grin

What's with the patronising attitude? Do you really think sending a few hundred students on Erasmus for 6 months or a year (if Scotland is ever accepted/can fund it) cancels out all the educational failings, never mind being even remotely plausible at present?

It's like a con artist who has just duped a lonely widow out of half a million pounds saying "oh, but I like dogs"!

LookAChicken · 30/03/2021 09:42

Well yes , Wouldbe. Not surprised I'd worked it out myself and I don't have two degrees.

I've been highly sceptical of the Scot gov Comms on Covid since the summer.

Mistressofmany · 30/03/2021 09:53

@user1487194234 I filled in the "missing letter" online even though it probably just hadn't come yet - it came the next day (I'm 50s, Lothian) though that was probably just a coincidence! Not had it yet, next week.

hilbil21 · 30/03/2021 10:27

@HadEnoughOfBears

Sorry to all of you who are suffering from vaccine side effects or the dreaded Covid itself. Hope you're all on the mend soon. Am supposed to have 1st vaccine on Sunday, hopefully it won't be too bad.

Covid update from the FM at 12 today.

I'm so so disappointed in myself that I'm actually so glad to see her mug on my tv again. I feel like we've been left in the dark recently Grin
ResilienceWanker · 30/03/2021 10:36

Does she have something important to announce then? I thought they weren't doing briefings now pre election unless there was a change in circumstances. Maybe it's just confirming the changes for the weekend? Eeek. I feel like the folks in England who get worried when BoJo crops up on a briefing, because he's only wheeled out when he's got something bad to announce...

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 30/03/2021 10:37

I think it's just confirmation the planned changes will go ahead next week.

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 10:39

I really hope she confirms schools returning.

UnderHisAye · 30/03/2021 10:45

I don't think the meeting relating to education is until next week @WouldBeGood 5th of April rings a bell?

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 10:50

Yes. I was just hoping she might deign to tell us now as she’s addressing the nation and lots of worried parents would like to know. There’s no conceivable reason to keep them shut after Easter.

I’m just really worried and anxious about it.

And because I have bugger all else to do it all preoccupies me!

rookiemere · 30/03/2021 10:51

Yeah they need to get the hairdressers open first. Priorities, priorities.

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 11:01

I can’t believe I’m saying this @rookiemere, as I’m very shallow, but I’d sacrifice my hair just now for my son being back in school. Fuck me, I’m a proper amazing mother 😂

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 11:03

And I hope you’re feeling better @rookiemere after your poor day yesterday.

And all the Covid/vaccine poorly folks

hilbil21 · 30/03/2021 11:11

@WouldBeGood that really tickled me lol. You are selfless haha!

rookiemere · 30/03/2021 11:26

@WouldBeGood yes hurrah for once I'm in the super duper parents category as well as I too would live with an unruly mop for longer to get my S3 in full time plus can't see me getting an appointment in the near future anyway .

But SG knows as we do that new infections coming from hairdressers is very low, but new infections from undistanced secondary schools will be much higher, so I think they've decided that's the numbers they can hold in reserve if needed. But schools come first-allegedly, so the only way to do it is sneak the other opening in first and demonstrate it doesn't impact infections.

If only there were actual proper questions about this stuff being asked at the end of the briefing .

ResilienceWanker · 30/03/2021 11:38

@WouldBeGood

I can’t believe I’m saying this *@rookiemere*, as I’m very shallow, but I’d sacrifice my hair just now for my son being back in school. Fuck me, I’m a proper amazing mother 😂
Grin Indeed. You watch out though - don't want you starting to go all tiger-mum and enforcing learning 17 languages and not eating any sugar.

I think isurvive is right and it'll just be confirmation of hairdressers and garden centres.

I wouldn't trust any announcement on schools today anyway - it'd still be "going back full time subject to the meeting on the 5th April". So teachers still wouldn't be able to do any definite preparation for the alternative until the last week of their holidays.

The first minister confirms a further 411 people have tested positive for Covid-19, 2.8% of the tests carried out yesterday.
This takes the total number of positive cases in Scotland to 217,890.
Breakdown of cases in health board areas:
·NHS Lothian: 109
·NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde: 94
·NHS Lanarkshire: 76
The remaining cases are spread across seven other health board areas.
There are 250 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19, a decrease of nine, and 23 in intensive care, up one from yesterday.
A further 12 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours of people who tested positive in the last 28 days.
The total number of deaths by that measurement is now 7,596.

What a load of shite! We are back to last summer with the just because you can doesn't mean you should crap

speedtalker · 30/03/2021 12:15

Just clicked on to her. She seems a little distracted...? What did she about this weekend?

RaspberryCoulis · 30/03/2021 12:15

@IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021

Exactly.

I'm opening garden centres on Monday (whoop de doo) but don't be actually GOING to the garden centre, just stay in the house. FACTS. Caution, careful, look at Europe, we must stay terrified.

Boat has sailed Nicola and you've lost it.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 30/03/2021 12:15

She is a wee bit all over the place today.

dancemom · 30/03/2021 12:18

She does seem a little harassed today, I wonder if it's the added pressure of having to keep the briefing completely non political and Covid based....

OP posts:
IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 30/03/2021 12:18

@RaspberryCoulis it drives me bloody mental. It's like we can't be excited about going somewhere because you are given the guilt trip.

The retail park at my bit was mobbed on Saturday. 30 mins to get out the car park. People here do not seem to give a fuck now (I am the same) but we are going into a 2 week holiday with fuck all to do I am demented.

It was on one of these threads I'm sure about uni not going back and we had it confirmed yesterday January 22 so it's really fucking annoying me when she says students are going back

RaspberryCoulis · 30/03/2021 12:21

Agree, two week Easter holiday with nothing open. And even if it was open, you're not allowed to go because of the utterly ridiculous stay inside your local authority rule.

We'll be doing our own thing anyway.

UnderHisAye · 30/03/2021 12:25

I honestly didn't get anything from what she said; it's so bitty now and I can't keep track of what the rules are any more. I will stay local but as I live two miles from a border I consider that other LA as 'local' to me as the one I live in.
