It's only five minutes from my house then I need to rush back for my son's football training. The high life!

That’s good @dancemom all the numbers going down a bit. Intensive care numbers are getting nice and low

Does anyone know when the schools returning full time (or not) will be confirmed? If they're still going with 2 weeks notice, it should be this week I think, as some schools will be back from the 12th(?). But as Parliament isn't sitting they may be making announcements in a different way (JS telling his cat, maybe, and that counts as a public announcement?) If they are sticking with blended "learning" you'd think it's a bit late to tell teachers now, just when they are starting holidays!

It doesn't affect me directly as we're still primary, but I'm still anxious about it, as it shows how serious they are re coming properly out of lockdown. As we said last week, I can't see how they can open hairdressers, shops, hospitality etc if all children aren't properly back at school...

Scottishskifun · 29/03/2021 09:22

5th of April is the special education meeting to decide I think

ResilienceWanker · 29/03/2021 09:25

Thanks!
(hope you're feeling a bit better!)

rookiemere · 29/03/2021 09:54

@ResilienceWanker it really makes a mockery of putting school opening first, when hairdressers opening is sneaked in whilst the full time face to face education of our secondary DCs is still in doubt.

Sooner they go back properly the better. I didn't realise DS was in today and did my usual waking him up at 8.30 for a fun day of online learning- of which there is very little now the poor teachers are trying to split themselves in two - resulting in a last minute dash to the school as he was too late to get the bus. Mind you interesting to know he can get dressed and ready in 3 minutes if absolutely necessary.

Oh and in NI we call them jotters too.

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2021 10:01

I just wanted to clarify that Devi’s assertion that the vaccines don’t work against the SA variant has been totally discredited and shown to be incorrect.

Just in case people are worrying. Vaccines good against variant.

rookiemere · 29/03/2021 10:02

I'm particularly annoyed as despite hugely overtipping my hairdresser between July - December, I'm not top of the list for appointment making as I hadn't made a follow up appointment for January.

SempreSuiGeneris · 29/03/2021 10:15

Burnt fingers have taught me that overtipping round our way is almost always a mistake. Makes people think you have more money than sense or brings out the inverted snobbery and they end up taking a loan of you. We're a thrawn lot.

Suspect my hairdresser's appointment backlog will be longer than the Suez's. Threatening the DC with experimenting with a Molly Weir bun.

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2021 10:54

@SempreSuiGeneris that’s funny, that’s exactly the do I’m rocking these days.

I can’t decide if I look like sumo wrestler or giant fat ballet dancer

speedtalker · 29/03/2021 11:16

Heard on the radio news this morning, with England switching to stay local guidance today, advice that if people are travelling to fuel up in your local area and just plan trips such that you don't interact with further afield people as much as possible. All very practical, and what we did in between lockdowns, and in the tone of encouraging sensible, cautious travel.
I wonder if Scot Govt's stay local guidance will be of the same tone, or much more advising us to stay very local indeed.

rookiemere · 29/03/2021 11:29

@speedtalker yes was talking to SIL in England about this. She took it to mean that they could travel but it had to be a distance whereby there is no overnight stay required so max an hour or so away.

To be honest if in almost a months time the SG still try to keep us within our cut boundaries, then we'll just head to England for days out instead- we can be over the border into scenic territory within 90 minutes- although I'd rather just drive 30 minutes up the road to North Berwick. But main chances of getting caught and fined are on entering and staying at car parks .

hilbil21 · 29/03/2021 11:31

I feel more down today than I have in a while. So much positivity on TV in England and up here not much change and I'm feeling as despondent as ever. The weather isn't helping.

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2021 11:33

Me too @hilbil21

Just groundhog day with grey mad weather to boot.

hilbil21 · 29/03/2021 11:35

I also feel a bit abandoned by the lack of briefings! I know there's a reason for it, and I didn't really enjoy seeing NS every day but at least there were updates and she was questioned on stuff. This is my own personal blue Monday Hmm

rookiemere · 29/03/2021 11:42

Well I got declined for a sideways interview that I thought I'd aced so today is not great tbh. Desperate to escape from current role that feels like a perennially unpleasant Groundhog Day and the thought of moving role had given me a real boost. I will keep on applying but if I can't get a role with what was probably my best interview ever, I'm not feeling very positive.

Plus didn't sleep well as went cold turkey on all the drugs I've been taking for my neck and shoulder now it's healed.

rookiemere · 29/03/2021 11:43

Sorry sideways role not interview

dancemom · 29/03/2021 11:49

I got my vaccine today 💉

But I agree, today feels grey gloomy and groundhog .... and I'm also missing the briefings weirdly enough.

rookie been there, and it sucks. Hoping something better comes along soon for you.

hilbil21 · 29/03/2021 12:07

@dancemom fab news on the vaccine Smile

latissimusdorsi · 29/03/2021 12:17

Great news @dancemom 💉
We're fine without the briefings. We've got youSmile
