I still don't understand why Care homes and over 80s in the wider community can't be done in parallel since we have enough vaccine doses to do both. We know how much vaccine is required for care homes, so why not put that aside and distribute the rest to GP surgeries to be administered at the same time? Start with the larger GP groups in populated areas if wastage is a worry. They say they are set up and ready for it so why not? It's lovely that we've gotten through so many front line (and otherwise) care workers, but these are often in the younger, low risk groups. Surely every week that goes by without vaccinating the over 80s group is just exposing more of them to the risk of catching COVID?

LetItGoGo · 22/01/2021 13:28

Time for parliament to go virtual or at least wear some masks..

littlbrowndog · 22/01/2021 13:29

Yeah imagine cost of contract for snacks and drinks.

Gawd gawd.

500k

Fgs what’s wrong with them doing what every other worker has to

Co op does hot food and drinks

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/01/2021 13:31

But everything is so flawed. For example, DH needs a hospital completed negative covid test on Monday before a procedure on Thursday, he needs to isolate after his negative test as does the rest of the household. But me and DS could have covid on Monday and just not have passed it on to DH until Tuesday so off he trots to hospital on Thursday? Not saying that will be the case because DS and I go nowhere, but...?

Are NHS still getting their £500 bonus?

Lets not forget that it isn't the staff asking for this as far as I know. I'm sure most are perfectly happy to do what they normally do and take in their food and drink or use on-site facilities.

I think it was said before the end of the tax year? DH heard nothing.

littlbrowndog · 22/01/2021 13:39

Yes. The workers are not asking for this at all

rookiemere · 22/01/2021 13:40

Well exactly @WaxOnFeckOff . I would imagine the main issue that front line staff have at the minute is actually getting time to have a hot drink, rather than worrying about the means to pay for it.

Perhaps she could issue them all with a tartan patterned SNP branded thermos flask and sandwich box and be done with it (apologies as again showing political allegiances).

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/01/2021 13:44

I'm sure they come round with tea for patients during the day, maybe all they need to do is allow and extra couple of teabags in the urn to let staff have a cup as well? (which i am fairly sure will happen pretty often anyway)

I still canny find 'lockdown til summer' information anywhere?

link please!

Peppafrig · 22/01/2021 14:16

The numbers just won’t go down enough will they . I can see the kids off till Easter now.

AgentCooper · 22/01/2021 14:19

DH was just talking about lockdown until summer Sad I really fucking hope not. Today I am missing my swimming so much. I would give anything for a swim right now.

AgentCooper · 22/01/2021 14:21

And a very bitter LOL at Nicola telling us to go shopping alone. I’ll just tie the toddler up outside Morrison’s with the dugs then.

blowinahoolie · 22/01/2021 14:22

Nursery better be starting back mid February.

blowinahoolie · 22/01/2021 14:24

DH goes to supermarket on his own in the evenings once we have two youngest in bed. No way would I even attempt taking whole tribe on my own during the day!!

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 22/01/2021 14:28

It wasn't mentioned @Iwillneverbesatisfied I don't know why someone stated it above, but it wasn't in the briefing that I saw anyway.

Peppafrig · 22/01/2021 14:28

@AgentCooper yeah they should just put a big cage outside and all the single parents can just leave their kids in it . She has no idea does she .

titsbumfannythelot · 22/01/2021 14:37

I can see lockdown lasting in some form until Easter, but not summer. The fact that the UK govt has invested so heavily in vaccines is, I think, indicative that they will not extend the furlough scheme.

Right, dry January can bloody well do one tonight.

WouldBeGood · 22/01/2021 14:37

I’ll go to the shop any time I please, patronising claptrap.

Any evidence of spread in shops..?! No, who needs evidence.

The snacks budget, whilst many people have no income is the last straw for me.

RaspberryCoulis · 22/01/2021 14:42

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel

It wasn't mentioned *@Iwillneverbesatisfied* I don't know why someone stated it above, but it wasn't in the briefing that I saw anyway.
It was the "expert" they had on before the briefing. Saying that vaccination wasn't enough, that we'd need some sort of lockdowns for ages. She really annoyed me. And then Sturgeon was asked about music festivals this summer. That was a NO too.

TBF I wasn't planning on going to Transmit anyway, I'm about 30 years too old. But seeing my parents and getting the kids back to school would be nice.

LetItGoGo · 22/01/2021 14:44

Money for snacks is not great thinking.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 22/01/2021 14:44

Oh right, I just watch on Twitter so I don't see any preamble.

To be fair there's a LOT in between schools being open and having 50k people at a festival.

blowinahoolie · 22/01/2021 14:44

Going through biscuits in this house like never before.

LetItGoGo · 22/01/2021 14:45
