I just saw that. And why on earth would that be?! Was my first thought...well second thought after 'fuck that'

My parents have aged a decade in the last year. They've gone from being retired but in no way considering themselves "elderly", having foreign holidays, going to classes at the gym, volunteering in the local primary school and organsing the "Britain in Bloom" effort for the local town to sitting at home doing jigsaws and watching Countdown.

That sounds like me - jigsaws and tipping point ! Although I never really see tipping point as I'm working.

My local Scotmid is selling hot food. I did wonder whether they'd still be able to have their Costa coffee machine on but they seem to be getting away with it.

Covid spreads more when people are happy.

Food parcel consists of Porridge oats, turnip, tatties, more turnip, more oats, some square sausage and haggis, a plain loaf, arbroath smokies, pack of teabags, pint of milk, more turnip, more oats, some onions and a recipe card for stovies. You get a pack of tunnocks tea cakes on your birthday. Once we are back in the EU we can get snails and german sausage and all sorts of EU goodies. We are exporting whisky, porridge and turnips.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Scotland grew a lot of Brussels sprouts. They could perhaps be added to the pile of general joblessness.

I don't mind sprouts so happy to add those in. if they become a major part of the diet though we wont meet any climate change targets due to the extra gasses.

My DD2 loves cabbage because I used to have an all Scottish veg box delivery to save on shopping trips when she was wee. Had to stop them because they kept arriving just as I was putting my 2 toddlers to bed. I was also fed up scrubbing dirty carrots and tatties and peeling sprouts. I doubt my food waste bin would cope with this regime these days.

Can I swap my birthday teacake for snowballs or even caramel logs please?

I think the delivery company for our government mandated food box will be "You'll have had your tea." Sold by Sacrifice and Nae Sons.

Will there be whisky in the mandated box 😂

You know some of us expats would be quite glad of a Scottish food box, (you can keep the turnips though).

No summer holidays in 2021 - remember NS baulked at cancelling October holidays. Maybe she's since seen this as a grave error but reckon it would be electorally unpopular even for NS.

Personally my money is on talking up the fear of all summer restrictions to make us oh so glad by May when the worst doom mongering doesn't happen.

Either that, or I'm going to have to move out of Scotland to ever see my family and old friends again!

It's a shame that we are all becoming so bloody cynical isn't it. But not surprising I guess.

I'd be surprised if she even let us cross the street let alone cross the channel.

Dear lord no!

I’ve had enough of this and now they’re saying no travels to look forward to

So DH has an appointment next week for his procedure and means he needs to be swabbed at the hospital for covid on Monday, despite the fact he already tests every few days, and then we are all to isolate for the week. It's sad that the only thing that jeopardises for DS1 and I is bringing in the bins on Tuesday.

Imagine being told this time last year that your household had to stay in the house for a week, now it's just a shrug and move on...
