No the dc just sit and chatter through the whole thing and you can hear other household conversations such as 'where's the teacher? I can't see her? This should have started already' TV in the background etc. It was really chaotic and awkward. My dc thought it was hilarious and loved seeing familar faces on screen but I can see that it will wear thin very quickly. It's early days with the technology but I don't know whether to make a few suggestions, I've been using teams for a while at work so I know my way around a bit and some functions that might help.

Scotland approach seems a bit shit given how long they’ve had to plan

Don't tier the pants out of it.

I don't mind what the approach is to vaccines, I just want to know why we are doing so few of them compared to the other parts of the UK.

It is pretty scandalous and I wonder if the more localised approach means far more bureaucratic process for fewer vaccinations.

DH was phoned to become a vaccinator last week. This is in the back of an application in April to work in labs processing tests. He has all the right qualifications for lab work and is currently self employed but Covid quiet.

Nothing for 9 months apart from chirpy e-mails asking if he was still interested. Then a call out of the blue offering a vaccine job. The promise of an e-Mail follow up.

Then nothing.

So, I am very suspicious indeed of the organisation underpinning the vaccines, the testing and the tracking of cases.

I feel that there has been a lot of PR for very little actual action.

When asked if he had ever vaccinated anyone he told them he hadn't- but he has done thousands of salmon.

Beware the fully trained marine biologist!

I feel the lack of planning for this has seriously let us down. We’ve been in lockdown for the best part of a year. They’ve been doing bugger all

It’s making me quite angry now.

WouldBeGood · 12/01/2021 21:48

Bring on the man of the sea!

Cismyfatarse · 12/01/2021 21:50

His specialist topic was mussels.

Sadly, not muscles although he did have a 6 pack when he was diving full time.

Now more of a keg.

Gosh, the Highland showground really means people will need their own transport. Places easier to get to by public transport would be better.

Coquohvan · 12/01/2021 21:54

@Y0u really abandoned! Missed that happening.

Tomorrowisanewday · 12/01/2021 22:04

I know someone who retired as a nurse in the autumn, applied to become a vaccinate, and has eventually got asked to do 40 minute interview next week. Surely they could just look at her file and have a 5 minute check with her to make sure she's not forgotten how to do it since September 🤷‍♀️

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 12/01/2021 22:08

okay I'm confused. Are salmon and mussels vaccinated or something like that? What exactly does he do?

Cismyfatarse · 12/01/2021 22:20

His research as a marine biologist was on mussels (but years ago) and he then went into the salmon industry where they inject a lot of fish. He had a couple of marine ecology jobs and did a lot of lab work.

He now runs his own (totally unrelated) business but it is tourism linked so very quiet, hence having time to do this.

But he originally applied in April expecting to just be part of a lab production line. Now being called about vaccinating.

I am not sure when they called they were aware of his extensive experience with salmon but it made the woman on the phone snigger.

Cismyfatarse · 12/01/2021 22:21

I am not sure why they inject salmon but it is a pretty nasty process and is really just factory farming in the sea so it will be to do with lice and disease.

That road to royal highland show will be carnage

Justmuddlingalong · 12/01/2021 22:26

NS mentioned a survey today on the SG website, which they were looking for folk to sign up to. Has anyone found it because I can't? Ta.

Lockdownbear · 12/01/2021 22:27

40mins interview for a recently retired nurse what a waste of time. How many injections could she do in that time plus the other folk interviewing.

I'm no expert but I successfully learned how to inject myself for fertility treatment, honestly it's not exactly rocket science. Kids with diabetes do it daily.

Get 100 needle monkeys banging injections in a massive centre and a few folk, 2 doctors and 10 nurses that deal with any reactions.

Just get on with it. Arr!

Ginsmything · 12/01/2021 22:30

We tried to go to the Gayle for OHs flu jab and had to turn around and give up as the queues were unbelievable, he eventually got it at a Boots pharmacy no bother. Surely small localities would be better?

Ginsmything · 12/01/2021 22:30

littlbrowndog · 12/01/2021 22:31

The flu jabs at craiglockhart I heard was awful traffic jams all round

Maybe you have to attend the SNP college first to access the key to the survey? :o
LizzieMacQueen · 12/01/2021 22:37

The format of that was poor but there's a clicky link at the bottom.

WouldBeGood · 12/01/2021 22:39

I’m now really worrying that they are going to cancel all non Covid stuff at hospitals again. Got a date for the start of February after over a year of this rubbish thing.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 22:39

saw 24 hours a day being banded about, do they really think that we'll all be heading to the arse end of nowhere in the middle of the night with maybe an elderly person in tow?

I appreciate that we are also moaning about making sure it's rolled out quickly but really not sure how that works in practical terms Confused

Lockdownbear · 12/01/2021 22:46

24hrs makes no sense to me either. How many appointments would be missed. People spout stuff without actually thinking it through.

Massive centre with folk, not necessarily nurses able to process 100s an hour yes that makes sense. Yes you need a few medical people to supervise and manage the odd reaction, but really injections isn't exactly brain surgery.
