The test centre at the Riverside Museum is the walk-through one. It's such an accessible part of the city. Grin I had a friend who was offered a test there but it would have taken over two hours to walk (in January!) and obviously they couldn't take public transport with suspected covid.
I don't know why they didn't have it in the city centre which is at least central for those who were able to walk.

Dinnafashyersel · 18/01/2021 11:09

I know icanboogie. Even if you can walk your chances of doing so without getting hopelessly lost in the motorway underpasses are close to zero. I can only do it because I've done the Yorkhill 10k in the past.

titsbumfannythelot · 18/01/2021 11:19

It seems daft with lots of hotels being closed that could be used.

I was chatting to a councillor last week who told me that they had identified a facility for local vaccination but had forgotten about WiFi/ broadband etc. Which could add on an extra month to mobilisation. Basic stuff which even I would have thought of.

They are just closed to holiday makers. Many are open to key workers and others are being used to accommodate homeless people.

Coquohvan · 18/01/2021 11:50

I was shocked to hear her original statement of 1M vaccinated by end of January is now halved to 500K.
Now this debacle about vaccine centres ongoing, it’s a blooming disgrace her advance planning.
This is on my FB feed and will only get more serious for those NHS staff, so NS get your finger out and stop promising actions that come way too late.

Don't tier the pants out of it.
anon444877 · 18/01/2021 11:54

The end jan vaccine target has halved - that's really shocking.

C0NNIE · 18/01/2021 12:01

I agree it’s very disappointing. Do we know if that is because of problems with the vaccine supply or because heath boards haven’t organised centres/ staff?

RaspberryCoulis · 18/01/2021 12:03

And all the University buildings - massive refectory at Strathclyde Uni just off George Sq. Or even the City Chambers ON George Square. Or in the West End, practically any of the Glasgow Uni buildings. Or at the old Yorkhill hospital.

But as per usual, where is the opposition asking the hard questions about this? Down to Ruth Davidson all on her tod again?

RaspberryCoulis · 18/01/2021 12:06

Well there are no prizes for guessing who the Scottish Government will be blaming for their failings.

"If Scotland were independent blah blah blah, shackled by Westminster blah blah blah".

But AFAIK the vaccine was distributed on a per head basis so we had just as much as England / Wales / N Ireland.

C0NNIE · 18/01/2021 12:10

I have to say that I’m shocked at the comment from the army that they are looking for venues. There’s a well established emergency planning system for Scotland that involves Police, local authorities, health boards, fire and rescue etc. I assumed that this group would have drawn up plans for vaccination last autumn and we ready to roll as soon as the vaccine was available.

iquitelikenormalityafterall · 18/01/2021 12:12

This is shocking. So we have NHS at capacity, schools and businesses shut, and they are not doing every single thing to get those vaccinations out? It’s a disgrace!

rookiemere · 18/01/2021 12:16

We've definitely got the right amounts proportionately based on the percentage population in Scotland as I remember checking it.

It would be incredibly disappointing if Scotland ends up not rolling out as quickly as rest of UK, but sadly as people have said SG is not called to account, and ever harsher lockdowns appear to be more vote winning than actually rolling out our get out of jail card.

littlbrowndog · 18/01/2021 12:17

Ffs

Churches are empty. Church halls are empty. Libraries are empty. Pubs are empty. Community spaces are empty and so on

Instead of appearing on the telly every day sturgeon should have been on top of this and making sure that her government is doing this as a priority

Groovee · 18/01/2021 12:18

Dh has been fasting on the hope of getting his biopsies today. I'm grateful to be on the rota for keyworker children. It's keeping me busy.

littlbrowndog · 18/01/2021 12:19

And yes Connie. There must be emergency planning already

littlbrowndog · 18/01/2021 12:20

anon444877 · 18/01/2021 12:39

Fingers crossed grovee

Coquohvan · 18/01/2021 12:42

@Groovee 💐

Just watched the update wish I hadn’t excuses today - supplies blah blah blah training blah blah blah prioritising care home takes time blah blah blah keeping doing the FACTS & stay at home don’t travel. Positives help for Taxi Drivers & Home Carers 🤨

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 18/01/2021 12:59

Monica Lennon standing for labour leader

ladylunchalot · 18/01/2021 13:03

@groovee Flowers hope your dh can get done today, thinking of you.

Good news - I got the job!! Haven't a clue when I'll start, all seems so unorganised although that doesn't surprise me. Said they're emailing out forms for me to complete, hoping it won't take long as I'm staff.

Peppafrig · 18/01/2021 13:16

@Coquohvan what extra help is she providing for home carers?

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 18/01/2021 13:16

and the vaccine process is "a little bit bumpy" according to NS Hmm

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 18/01/2021 13:29

Perhaps it would be a bit less bumpy if instead of 'ramping up' plans for Indyref2 and creating an independence task force, the Scottish government put all their efforts into distributing the vaccine? Completely out the box I know.

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/01/2021 13:30

Woo hoo @ladylunchalot - the dream job?

NAd fingers still crossed for Mr @Groovee

Coquohvan · 18/01/2021 13:33

Sorry should have said, cash payments for carers to help as not receiving respite ATM. It’s usually up on the gov site later the same day. If I see it I will link for you.
