@WaxOnFeckOff I agree the lack of independent statistics is frustrating- it's as if a hospital ward has never been full over winter before when we know that's not the case.
However like @Rae36 I am now quite worried about the high numbers and the new variant, so I do think it's right to look at what can be done, but - and this is where SG falls down - all measures need to be done for the minimum time only to get R rate below 1 and NHS manageable.
We aren't NZ and there will be things out of our control, but do what's needed to get numbers down then get things open again - schools a top priority- as soon as possible. I personally am doing as much as I can within the current guidelines as I'm frightened I'll be in a position where I won't be able to see or go running with a friend again for many months. If I had some sort of assurance that any measures would be taken for the minimum time only, perhaps I wouldn't be flogging the arse out of it quite so much.
