Yup! Think so. Definitely won’t be running as they currently are that’s for sure.

littlbrowndog · 12/01/2021 12:36

Why can’t we get take away. Is there any data on take away givin* us COVID

runningpink · 12/01/2021 12:36

@Iwillneverbesatisfied woohoo! Well done on getting through to next round.

runningpink · 12/01/2021 12:37

@littlbrowndog she was going on about reducing places for people to be and we should be staying at home.
Who knows!

LockdownSucksBalls · 12/01/2021 12:39

I think we will be allowed delivery just not able to go and actually pick food up? That's what I am taking from her today

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 12/01/2021 12:40

Congratulations Iwill that’s great news!

Hello all this thread is fast Shock

What has she got against takeaways? Curry & pizza round here are supremely organised & there is next to no contact (less than getting food shopping delivered I would say) chippy is less slick but they are really strict about distancing & people are waiting patiently out in the cold for their order to be ready.

Rae36 · 12/01/2021 12:43

Right that's it, we're getting a fish supper tonight. And maybe also a chinese. They take flipping hours to deliver if you don't collect.

We can save Domino's for another time, they're much more set up for delivery than the others so hopefully we can still have them.

runningpink · 12/01/2021 12:45

I think she thinks takeaway are encouraging people out when they should be tucked up in bed at home! 🙄

I agree I think she may allow delivery but no collection. It’s the cost of a taxi here for delivery for Chinese as no actual delivery van which makes it a very expensive meal for one person!

The 3 metre thing isn’t on their radar which is good.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 12:48

We pretty much always collect (not that we have them often) as I like my food hot and not having been on a tour of the city before I get it.

Well done on the job interview Iwill

WouldBeGood · 12/01/2021 12:50

@Iwillneverbesatisfied that’s great news! Well done

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 12/01/2021 12:51

Thank you everyone. Still up against 4 other people for 2 jobs apparently so still nervous as hell but got time to swot up.

I'm not too bothered about the takeaway issue as long as they can still deliver and do drive thrus.

Rae36 · 12/01/2021 12:51

I know we're all joking a bit about it but I was quite shocked today by the increase in the number of people in hospital today. Obviously I don't know how it compares to this time last year but it's not good. Maybe I need to stop making jokes and take it a bit more seriously, I don't know.

WouldBeGood · 12/01/2021 12:51

I’m actually really fucked off about the takeaways idea. It’s one small pleasure in a shite time. And more stress on the poor restaurants and cafes. Without a shred of evidence of spread. She’s a maniac.

LockdownSucksBalls · 12/01/2021 12:57

God we are going for fucking zero covid again aren't we? "Need to supress to really low levels" fuck this! Again!! Why 10 months on is this the bloody strategy. Don't do this don't do that just don't. Urgh I feel shite today.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 13:01

Rae, the issue is that we still don't have proper info on why the people are in hospital or if figures in hospital overall are higher than normal. This is a busy time of year normally, Covid id mor endemic in the population so regardless of why they are i hospital, they might have a positive covid test and therefore be counted as being a hospital covid patient. But they might be in as they've had a heart attach or a stroke or an accident or whatever and not actually be ill with covid. Or they may all be ill with covid - who knows?

ICU numbers I think are comparable with what we'd normally see in winter but obvs more will be positive with covid as above. Given that the vast majority of people who died in spring would never see an ICU bed as they were already DNR and the ICU numbers were much higher then, so....?

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 13:03

The only thing DH (NHS) has mentioned is that staff absence is really high across the board so that seems to be a big issue. Travelling Tabby used to track that but don't see it anymore.

littlbrowndog · 12/01/2021 13:07

But if we don’t have a laugh might as well turn our faces to the walls

When I sometimes look at the cornovirus boards I think there are some terrible things said over there

Makes me feel calm and measured 🤪😂

rookiemere · 12/01/2021 13:16

@WaxOnFeckOff I agree the lack of independent statistics is frustrating- it's as if a hospital ward has never been full over winter before when we know that's not the case.

However like @Rae36 I am now quite worried about the high numbers and the new variant, so I do think it's right to look at what can be done, but - and this is where SG falls down - all measures need to be done for the minimum time only to get R rate below 1 and NHS manageable.

We aren't NZ and there will be things out of our control, but do what's needed to get numbers down then get things open again - schools a top priority- as soon as possible. I personally am doing as much as I can within the current guidelines as I'm frightened I'll be in a position where I won't be able to see or go running with a friend again for many months. If I had some sort of assurance that any measures would be taken for the minimum time only, perhaps I wouldn't be flogging the arse out of it quite so much.

anon444877 · 12/01/2021 13:17

I had a peak on a covid thread last night on here where a poster who said she broke self isolation for a run as she was feeling mentally really on the edge was piled on. Never come looking for support on mn if you've broken a rule, however desperate you are!

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 13:17

I think the thing is, despite our moaning and our different views, we are a pretty compliant lot and have been more or less following all the guidance regardless. No-one on these threads a covid denyer or anti vaxxer but we do have differing views about the strategy and the restrictions.

I think it's okay to take the laughs where we can as we are not in the granny killing business, just venting frustrations.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 13:23

@rookiemere, I guess i just find it frustrating re the numbers as it really matters not a jot how many people have covid if it's not translating into hospitalisations and deaths and we protect the vulnerable. I mean hospitals have been over-run in flu years and no-one was locked down, no-one was tested, we just took sensible precautions. I appreciate the difference being that you are generally aware you have flu and therefore don't go and visit your granny, but we've had testing available for a decent while now so things should be different no matter which end of the camp you sit.

Without the proper information then you can't make informed choices and there is no indication that anyone has that information.

anon444877 · 12/01/2021 13:25

That's what I struggle with rookie I don't get the sense that NS really gets that people need to feel there's an end, that these privations are short term now.

If we get to May and it's no holidays, another dismal summer wondering if the pool or library might open, relatives aren't allowed visit still and the Twitter chat is still all about border control and what a triumph all this has been...

I've had two hours of screaming and very upset dc2 today so not an upbeat day so far.

user1487194234 · 12/01/2021 13:30

Can't believe takeaways are under threat, really can't see that making any difference at all

rookiemere · 12/01/2021 13:30

Boris is a complete buffoon, but he understands the need for some hope for a positive future - more than just the vague hope of a midge infected Scotland based summer vacation- and that's why he includes vaccine numbers in his chat. I don't listen to NS briefings, but I don't think they are getting much of a mention - I'd really like to know the detailed plans for roll out.

rookiemere · 12/01/2021 13:41

Oh well done btw @Iwillneverbesatisfied cannot believe they're making you go through a third interview though.
