Do you have a link to the St Andrew's study @WouldBeGood?

I honestly struggle to see 90% compliance in reality. Even just looking around the different groups of people I know (non overlapping groups) there seems to be way more non compliance than that. So I'm curious to see their methodology.

Bytheloch · 13/01/2021 20:56

It's not the people's fault it the fact that the NHS is underfunded and mismanaged. That's not Covid, that's winter and the NHS blackhole.

Well said @WaxOnFeckOff
I’m still baffled as to why people believe this to be a fresh crisis for the NHS? It’s a crisis on top of a service that has been neglected and underfunded for years.
It certainly doesn’t make me a covid denier- I think I’m what people are calling a ‘covid realist’. It doesn’t make me right or wrong, but hopefully less susceptible to believing everything that comes from above, which includes constantly blaming us for their system failures.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 20:56

I can't even go for a cold wet snowy walk with my 2 local friends. It's illegal. Illegal Sad

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2021 20:58

@Iwillneverbesatisfied

Local restaurant (which used to be good and is now quite shit) are still doing takeaways except now they say you need to drive up, roll down your window and they will come out and give you the food (if you text them to say you are there). Is this not the same as click and collect? Confused I thought takeaways had to be delivery only now.
They're allowed to serve from a hatch/from a door so I don't see much difference between that and handing it through a car window. You're just not allowed in the take away
WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:00

Now I am going to do something exciting and see if I can order some corn on the cob fork/holder thingies. We now have one left between the the whole family - one, not a pair.

That's essential yes? We need to eat our veggies and not burn our fingers and don't want to risk forking into my hand or eye using a real fork.

ssd · 13/01/2021 21:01

I've still got my xmas tree up Grin

It's the only feckin thing cheering me up

polarisation · 13/01/2021 21:02

In addition to the lack of data, I think the lack of transparency and scientific evidence for the restrictions (notably these new ones) is a huge issue. If they can't or won't explain why X is allowed but Y isn't but expect us to put up with indefinite restrictions on every aspect of our lives, the simplest explanations would be either incompetence or malice on the part of the government, surely.

And we really love a chippy here, so obviously it's swung to malice now Grin

Bytheloch · 13/01/2021 21:04

I think there’s a real risk that without the corn holders, you may injure yourselves and end up at minor injuries...so you’re actually being very responsible by ordering them Halo

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:04

I still have lighty twig tree up. DH not even bothered to ask if it's going away - he knows the answer.

polarisation · 13/01/2021 21:05

Gosh there's at least a whole new page since I started writing that, my point was that being a restriction sceptic doesn't mean you don't believe in covid.

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2021 21:06

I don't believe there's any great conspiracy to "control the people" or similar. I think there is a bit of tunnel vision, fear of bad press, fear of being wrong, an immediacy effect (not dealing with covid is apparent quickly whereas the long term mental health, physical health and economic effects will take longer to become properly visible), not wanting to be the outlier, fear, a bit of a cover up of how bad the NHS has been allowed to get...

Lighting up my life Grin

We'll see

And we keep our tree up til Candlemas on 2nd Feb, the traditional end of the Christmas season! 🎄

titsbumfannythelot · 13/01/2021 21:08

Agreed stats, but I do think the snp are achieving their alcohol objectives by stealth rather than policy.

ikswobel · 13/01/2021 21:08

@WaxOnFeckOff posted too soon.
You could make your own to avoid decisions over legality

Those look fab but would require me to purchase toy animals which I suspect are less within the rules than genuine household goods :o

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 21:12

I want corn on the cob now.

Are you in Scotland, I've never heard of Candlemas , mind you I'm the least religious person you could meet
kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 21:15

Completely off the point, feel free to ignore, but inspired by the pictures behinds wax's tree, does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere great and local( centralish Scotland) to buy prints and things? There used to be a thing at the weekend in merchant city but not now of course.

polarisation · 13/01/2021 21:17

Yes, but we are weird too! 😂 It's an older Catholic tradition to still do Candlemas I think, but it's the official end of the liturgical "Christmas" season.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:17

I don't think there is a big conspiracy either, some panic, some poor decisions etc etc and here we are! I'm not going to say that there isn't an element of liking the control now it's there and they do have a history of wanting to remove autonomy.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:19

@kurtrussellsbeard

I want corn on the cob now.
We had it for dinner. DH can't eat at all, DS1 doesn't like it, so DS2 and I had two cobs each with our dinner, I gave him the one remaining corn cob fork - the things a mother does for her DC :o
kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 21:21

True sacrifice 🌽😀
