Nice pic wax, I like the pictures behind the tree too

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:22

I bought the prints online but i've seen some local artists posting stuff and think I might get some grown up art :)

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 21:23

I've been in my new house so long it's very far from new and still no pictures

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 21:23

That's what I want - grown up art - no clue where to find it

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:23

Prints are Scott Naismith, I have a few more in the room.

NotAnActualSheep · 13/01/2021 21:26

@ikswobel

Oh *@NotAnActualSheep* I hope you are being silly now....
Most of the time, yes. Confused

I'm fed up with most things at the moment, and especially restrictions that are impacting people's lives and livelihoods, with minimal, if any, effect on the number of people getting seriously ill and dying. I'm obeying laws and obeying guidance, but through gritted teeth, frankly. I can't see, realistically, how me being able to click and collect from hobbycraft will lead to an otherwise avoidable infection, hospitalisation or death, assuming everyone in the chain is doing what they should (never been to hobbycraft, and hate glitter with a passion, but in theory...). I can understand why they temporarily closed schools, though on balance I disagree with it on a cost/ benefit assessment, though accept and understand that others reached a different decision. But I'm NOT happy with how it's being handled, with constant stringing out of the timescale, warnings, threats of yet further restrictions and so on...set against the background of a glacial vaccination speed. I don't think that makes me a covid denier, but I do have red lines on both sides of the debate... I "switch off" at talk of plandemics, great resets and no consent as much as I do at "stay the fuck at home" and reporting neighbours for walking too close with their dog.

So I like whinging here without automatically being told to look on the bright side and make my own sunshine, or that we have to suck it up to stop the NHS being swamped when the NHS is swamped under normal circumstances, or that MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE because people are queuing outside greggs. I also like the irreverence and the 2m crackers.

The frames are LP frames so cheap as chips

I have a trio of Scott Naismith's too

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:31

I almost bought a picture in oils someone local had done from the perspective of my most local walk but looking towards the hills, was only £80 but unframed and by the time I'd hummed and hawed about buying more things when I actually need to tidy and redecorate first, it'd been snapped up.

anon444877 · 13/01/2021 21:33

I have similar prints of favourite Scottish landscape scenes dotted about bought years ago, but I couldn't say we'd done any interior design except for piling up stacks of books on every surface.

I'm after botanical drawings to hang at some point.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:35

This isn't an affiliation, but I bought some stuff from this chap - not yet framed and up but good fun prints - he does movie style posters but with a local twist:

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:38

I got Edinburgh ones obvs but there are also ones from the dark side :o

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 21:39

@StatisticallyChallenged these are the photos o posted. The woman on Twitter had a really reasonable thread explaining how transmission is happening; not through rule breakers

Love that wee Etsy shop.

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 21:42

And this

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 21:45

It would actually be good if everyone concerned about where the spread is, and what should be done about it, read those things

ladylunchalot · 13/01/2021 21:45

I've got my interview tomorrow for the vaccine admin Bank Post and am feeling a bit nervous. Haven't had an interview in over 5 years and it's on Teams. Help!!

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:48

@kurtrussellsbeard

Love that wee Etsy shop.
Me too! I got a set of postcards to put into small frames and fill a wall and a couple of bigger posters, just waiting to be able to get kitchen redone and they'll be going up the dining bit I think.
IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 13/01/2021 21:50
@ikswobel this is a tricky thread. I like it but your face either fits or it doesn't. Some people are allowed to dissent and have opposing opinions and others aren't. Can't work out why. Genuinely.

I think cleaners should be allowed to work. People need these things for their mental health and sanity and many cleaners need and want to work. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is also a vague whiff of covid skepticism here also which I find a bit confusing. I don't understand what people think the motivation is for all the drama? Why would a government, the medical profession and those of several other countries want all the hoo ha? What would be the motivation?
Could have written this word for word

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2021 21:53

OK, that info is useful. Crucially though, I think the 90% compliance figure actually goes all the way back to a Kings piece of research done in April. That is a very long time ago in compliance terms. It was also "87% say they’re following lockdown rules completely or nearly all the time."

Don't get me wrong, it's not all about rule breakers. But the thread you highlights makes the point that focusing on low risk settings isn't helpful, and that's where we are getting now. Take click and collect. Ok, fair enough the "from the door" collection version. But if that's the case, why also only allow certain shops. Is it really a risk worthy of closing the business for someone in hobbycraft to hand me a box?

Thinking about the rule breakers I know; a fair chunk would say they're complying as they don't actually pay much attention to the rules!

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 21:56

ladylunchalot is it a competency based interview?

If so, I'd focus on thinking about times where something went well (because of you obvs!)
Times where things went wrong and how you fixed them or what you learned from that
When you've worked in a team
When you've led something
When you've had to persuade someone to do something
When you've had to tell someone to do something
How you've dealt with someone underachieving

What your strengths and attributes are - look at the job description and make sure you answer those but not verbatim. i'e. it might be looking for someone with drive so you say that you like to get things done or enjoy achieving things etc.
Think about what you would bring to the role?

Someone else with more specific experience might be able to help better. I've not had an interview for 17 years, I have however got every job I've ever applied for bar one - and that one was when I was 17. Not boasting, just seem to do okay in interviews.

Remember to look them in the eye and smile!

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 21:59

It’s poverty that’s the driver of the non compliance though, snd not through lack of desire to comply, but lack of funds. Forward facing low paid work near other people on long shifts. Overcrowded housing. Poor preexisting health so other risk factors. Stress from all that. Poor diet. Need to earn as no cushion. That’s where the community spread is; not the things obsessed over on mumsnet.

It’s really easy to say stay the fuck at home if your lifestyle and finances allow, but still expect the poor to be out working to service this, and thus get, and spread, the virus

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 22:02

@ladylunchalot i mean this with no disrespect to you or your profession at all but honestly I'd be asking two questions: can you administer a vaccine? When can you start?

I really hope this isn't some weird hoop jumping exercise and they just get as many people as they can on board ASAP.

I very much hope it goes well and you get it. Interviews are horrible things.

ladylunchalot · 13/01/2021 22:06

Thanks v much Wax, yeah it's competency based so I've been racking my brains for some examples. Will have a trawl through my work emails tomorrow and see if anything jumps out at me. It's a 30 minute slot so I'm hoping it's not too intensive and with 2 interviewing so a smaller than usual panel.
At least I can't be late and struggle to find itGrin

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 22:06

Yes @WouldBeGood, there has been a few outbreaks in one of our offices in a northern city basically because the staff contracts don't have any sick pay, the staff are fairly young so they are not trusting them to work at home or they struggle for appropriate places to work (some share a bedroom and only only living space) so more are going in to work, they have to use public transport, are more likely to get a lunch in a local cafe or get a supermarket sandwich as all the office catering facilities are shut down etc etc etc.

Other staff with sick pay and their own house so can work at home, or their own cars etc are much less exposed.
