I'm trying hard to be positive. I've got out of bed 7 days in a row and done a work out and got dressed every day! It's massive progress on the week before.

Rae36 · 13/01/2021 20:28

The rules are stupidly inconsistent and I think that's why people are so irate about small things.

It doesn't make sense that one person can't go in a takeaway but one person can go round 3 or 4 houses in a day cleaning. A cleaner can come into my house and 3 others but my sister can't come into just mine. Unless I employ her as a cleaner. The risks are small in all cases if you follow all precautions but why is one okay and the other is not?

Everyone is pissed off about how badly we are being restricted. People who are usually cheery and tolerant are miserable and nit-picky. Myself included. It has been grey, sleeting and cold here all day, I'm so fucking fed up.

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 20:28

It's the worst. I cried about 4 times today just trying to get through my working day. I need some positive vaccination news.

ikswobel · 13/01/2021 20:31

In other news I have just had an email from naked wines to say they're sending me a free box of samples!!!! I don't know if this is a good thing, on balance I will say yes, oblivion might be better than this shitty year so far.
As long as the delivery man leaves it on the doorstep.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 20:31

Well Scotgov have been in charge of the NHS for a long time and have cut things to the bone. Being in stirling we've had the fallout from NHS Lanarkshire as FVR is the backstop, so we got restricted anyway despite low numbers. It's not the people's fault it the fact that the NHS is underfunded and mismanaged. That's not Covid, that's winter and the NHS blackhole.

We still (nearly a year in) don't have figures for how many people are ill because of covid or are ill with something else and have had a positive test, it's deplorable really, how is anyone meant to be making important decisions without this information? I think where we are now is where we are going to be every winter. Fund the NHS or just tell everyone to stay home and therefore not catch flu...?

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 20:33

There are lots of different views on how to handle things. Countries who have done well have handled it differently. Having different views on how to deal with this doesn’t make people Covid deniers or nutters

ssd · 13/01/2021 20:33

I came back from my walk and had a good talk with dh. He's level headed and talks me down. Theres a couple of things really ripping ma knittin just now and hes talked me through them.

I cant imagine dealing with all this shite alone. My heart breaks for these people.

Bytheloch · 13/01/2021 20:33

I went a long walk in the pouring rain to cheer myself up...

Me too, only it was sleeting when I finally got out. Very tempted to put g&t in travel mug, but even that is banned now...

ikswobel · 13/01/2021 20:35

@WaxOnFeckOff we do have those figures, we have nosocomial infection figures, care home figures, age breakdown, overall hospital figures endless data. But do we need to know that? Why? If people have a broken leg and covid it's still covid. It's not going to prove that this is all some agenda of control. It's just a horrible virus.

ikswobel · 13/01/2021 20:37

@WaxOnFeckOff I like the saying "you can't fatten a pig by weighing it"

titsbumfannythelot · 13/01/2021 20:37

I'm so fed up I can't even be bothered to go for a bath

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 20:41

I've been trying to make sure I do one nice thing a day. Simple things. Moisturise my feet. Face mask. Eye cream that cost a fortune abs I never use. I have no idea if it's helping but it's usually a nice wee five minutes.

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 20:42

That’s a good idea @kurtrussellsbeard

I’ve made a list of two things I must do tomorrow but will add a nice one

polarisation · 13/01/2021 20:42

Interesting thread here about outdoor socialising and transmission, and some links to further reading on social compliance with restrictions.

titsbumfannythelot · 13/01/2021 20:42

We all need something to look forward to. There's very little to look forward to just now.

No, we don't know this. You will be noted as a covid patient if you tested positive within the last 28 days and you attend hospital for anything, and I mean anything, broken leg, heart attack etc. Equally if you first tested 30 days ago and now need intensive care, you are no longer a covid patient.

Die from a stroke with a positive test and it'll be on your death certificate regardless that it had nothing to do with the reason you died.

It's not just us though, same issue all over the world. Lots in the USA on the covid stats but also had a bullet wound.

I appreciate that in some cases it wont be clear cut but we could have had stats such as Covid death, Non covid death with a positive test and possible covid death where maybe someone had a lung issue and covid maybe impacted. Same for patients. We don't have this info as it is collected.

If you have seen this though I'm happy to stand corrected and look at it.

ssd · 13/01/2021 20:45

God I cant think if a single nice thing I can do tomorrow Sad

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 20:45

But do we need to know that? Why? If people have a broken leg and covid it's still covid

We do need to know as the amount of positive tests, amount of "covid" patients in hospitals and "covid" deaths are the drivers for the restrictions. We don't actually know if we are in a worse place than we would be in a bad flu year - we might be in a very worse place, but we don't actually know.

Nice things involve seeing pals indoors over a table with food on it

Or just seeing pals...

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 20:47

Agree @WaxOnFeckOff

Where it’s spread is important.

I linked to data on that yesterday morning.

Hospitals, care homes, overcrowded homes, poverty and lack of support for the poorest to self isolate if ill. Not “rule breakers” of whom there are very few.90% compliance. See the St Andrew’s University study

I was hauled over the coals last week by a family member for meeting a friend who hadn't seen anyone since the 21st of Dec. I really miss my friends x
WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 20:50

I got DH to get me a nice set of face creams and treatments for Christmas and I've not opened it. I just can't be bothered :(

DH is in a bit of a state after his dental treatment, he's in agony and his face is really swollen and he's only managed some soup and now drugged up and out for the count on the sofa.

Local restaurant (which used to be good and is now quite shit) are still doing takeaways except now they say you need to drive up, roll down your window and they will come out and give you the food (if you text them to say you are there). Is this not the same as click and collect? Confused I thought takeaways had to be delivery only now.

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/01/2021 20:54

See I think I'm lucky in a way as I have very very young children and so socialising hasn't been on my radar for a year or two - too sleep deprived. Also they are very difficult and therefore exceptionally distracting. It makes things easier and I sympathise for people who don't have a similar distraction.

I wish I could start my diet though. No motivation for it. Getting fatter by the second.
