yeah, saw that @Lockdownbear and thought it was funny :)

But they could seriously be involved in supplying expertise in logistics as they have that and resource, it would save Jeane Freeman lying and blaming Boris.

anon444877 · 13/01/2021 14:27

All warehousing companies want to be Amazon logistics.

What....what if she bans the sale of alcohol altogether? Does she have that sort of power?

honestly I am not sure she technically has the power to do half of what's already been done but too demoralised to think about it . I call for impeachment!!! :o

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 13/01/2021 14:39

I do wonder if the “no public drinking” thing will stick Hmm
I can still remember being stunned by it after moving to Glasgow.

There must be a way to tax Amazon- delivery tax on companies?

latortugafeliz · 13/01/2021 14:40

@WaxOnFeckOff

Stickers, some sort of patronising covid awards for us?

Definitely, there could be a range with different pictures for different achievements or just different coloured backgrounds?

The John Swinney award for homeschooling excellence
The Jeane Freeman award for turning up at 4am for a vaccine on the last day of the month to make the figures look better
The Margaret Ferrier award for travel in times of adversity
The industry award for 2 meter chip chucking

These could be the new 2m cracker ideas.

Thank you for making me laugh on an otherwise dismal day Grin
icanboogieboogiewoogie · 13/01/2021 14:40

Who's sitting outside in the sleet, -4c with a bottle of wine? Nobody

Oh, I don't know. The kids are inside. 😂

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 13/01/2021 14:40

Tbh I didn’t realise it was allowed I thought it was already a blanket ban in Scotland. I feel cheated 😂

FloraFocus · 13/01/2021 14:40

It may yet come to that.

StrongTea · 13/01/2021 14:44

I popped into the range yesterday as tesco had no de-icer on their shelves. Got asked for my postcode, I asked why and assistant mumbled something, couldn’t pick up what she said.

FloraFocus · 13/01/2021 14:46

I'm nodding along to this thread. Thanks for the laughs in crap times.

It is indeed the disaster movie noone would watch.

Although it's a hot topic in our family / friends, noone in the public eye does mention Amazon doing so well (that I've noticed anyway.)

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 14:48

There might be some kind of alcohol amnesty where you hand in full bottles/cans of alcohol and get stickers and the first hundred folk to fill their chart get a tour of NSs house and a cheeky wee look at her personal emails between her and Ec?

So you'd need like different types of alcohol to get the set, bottle gin, can of tennants, bottle of cider etc. Maybe a posh version and a jakey version as maybe not everyone would have a can of hooch AND a bottle of bolly.

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 14:53

Confused they are on their 3rd alcohol ban in South Africa I think so I think they have the power to do it. I don't think it's likely though they are already aware that compliance is on a knife edge and that would take it over the edge for even the most reasonable and understanding SNP supporter!
StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2021 15:28

I think the fundamental issue here is that there's very little enforcement- just rules. So when Margaret gets covid and track and trace call her, she tells them she's been to the supermarket, to get a chippy, and to pick up some glitter at hobbycraft. The records of where people who test positive have been show supermarket, take away, click and collect.

Margaret doesn't mention that's she went round to Jean's on Monday, for a dog walk with Annie on Tuesday which they drove to in the car, or that she saw her daughter and grandkids on Thursday.

Repeat this around the country and you have some really duff data.

I'm not saying I fancy a police state btw.

Most points go to alcohol free booze bottles and those people are awarded a super size fun sponge accessory pack
WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 15:34

yep, the main evidence for supermarket is folk saying to track and trace they've been at the supermarket - well obvs most folk been at the supermarket, doesn't mean that's where they picked up covid.

I'm astonished really at the level of stuff that is stated as fact when we actually don't have the proper data to conclude either because it isn't gathered or folk have lied so as to not get into trouble. Farce.

ProfMcGonigle · 13/01/2021 15:35

I've just found this thread, i hope it's ok to ask a Q (I don't mean to de-rail):

What's the rules on domestic cleaners? My cleaner insists she can still go to her customers' houses but I'm not so sure.

Any thoughts please?

anon444877 · 13/01/2021 15:39

Absolutely, restriction after restriction, most of which the police are having a miserable time trying to police alongside all their usual work. How about we look at the enforcement of the quarantine & self isolation rules?

Now more nonsense legislation about firms being forced to let people wfh. Why is that needed? That has job loss potential.

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 15:39

I have absinthe- extra amnesty points?

titsbumfannythelot · 13/01/2021 15:42

Straight to rehab for even thinking about it.

titsbumfannythelot · 13/01/2021 15:42

And 10 copies of moulin rouge will be destroyed

runningpink · 13/01/2021 15:57

That’s one takeaway cafe here closed for time being as they can’t make the latest restrictions work unless they spend money they don’t have. Nice wee place who have done everything they can to make it work. Such a shame.
