Just had a call from my dog groomer while I was reading the posts above. She's doing welfare grooms (so dogs that are really matted) as she thinks the guidance allows that but isn't sure it covers 'just needing a cut' ones. But she's doing 2 welfare ones on the day we had our dog booked in so said she'd do her if I'm comfortable making the journey. It's less than 10 mins drive from the house so I'm going to do it even though it's not deemed an essential journey. She has covid secure handover via a cage so no risk at all. Poor dog is very much in need of a cut and spends most of most days soaking wet now as her fur takes so long to dry.

@ProfMcGonigle

I as a nanny can’t work as my families aren’t key workers so I assume a cleaner will come under same basis as inside someone’s home.

It will probably be on the guidelines so somewhere but i have problems navigating the page for some reason.

Lockdownbear · 13/01/2021 16:05

@ProfMcGonigle

I've just found this thread, i hope it's ok to ask a Q (I don't mean to de-rail):

What's the rules on domestic cleaners? My cleaner insists she can still go to her customers' houses but I'm not so sure.

Any thoughts please?

Of course they won't stop domestic cleaners, can you picture NS with a loo brush in hand or BJ with a hoover?
anon444877 · 13/01/2021 16:06

I'd say a cleaner if you have a cleaner because you've got physical limitations might be essential though.

Does that mean Nicola needs to clean her own loo? Grin

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 16:12

@Lockdownbear I reckon Peter does their loo.

Aurea · 13/01/2021 16:18

My dogs are off the groomers tomorrow. She does a non contact hand over and I just walk them up the road so it could be part of my daily exercise.

They are poodle crosses so they need their coats clipped to avoid discomfort.

Fucks sake - late to the news and cannot believe the level of control the SNP are now exerting over every aspect of people's lives.
peopTakeaways and non-essential click and collect are not driving this epidemic. NS would do better to spend a bit of time making sure all care workers get regularly tested (not just nhs staff), that people get 2 negative tests before they leave hospital, that people are supported to isolate and kids get a proper education.

Hope

makingitupaswegoon · 13/01/2021 16:24

Sorry problem with connection - meant to finish with hope people remember this at election time (whenever that might be)

Do I get a double sticker for having completed 3 whole days of homeschooling without resorting to alcohol (indoors or outdoors) at all? Grin (intending on remedying that after an afternoon of building Kelpies out of tin foil).

Am feeling so sorry for all cafes/ shops that put so much effort into establishing takeaway/ c and c services, that have had that pulled out from under them. And not sure what difference it makes, especially re takeaways. So people can still queue for a Costa, but they'll place the order at the door (possibly getting closer to the barista than otherwise needed, to be heard over outside noise), and get it handed over at the door rather than inside. So apart from upping the steps of the staff, how does it reduce contact with either the staff or other queueees? When are they going to stop restrictions for the sake of them, without considering how it will work in practice, or whether it will actually have the effect they intend?

Alcohol outside, OK, I can see the logic, but it's hardly an equitable policy, especially at this time of year. (Let's face it, it's not the champagne picnics or after work drinkers they are intending on targeting in January). And I thought councils could do that anyway, if its a problem.

PurpleFrog · 13/01/2021 16:40

@RaspberryCoulis Spot on with Hobbycraft. Just got an email to say they are no longer doing click and collect in Scotland! Grin

RaspberryCoulis · 13/01/2021 16:46

@anon444877

Does being shit at cleaning and having to work to earn a living, plus support the education at the same fucking time count as a physical limitation?

My cleaner was here this morning. I am guided by her whether she comes or not. She wants to come, I'm not stopping her. She needs the money, I need the service.

NotAnActualSheep · 13/01/2021 16:46

I suppose most places offering click and collect also have a delivery service. Though that's usually more expensive unless you spend enough for free delivery, and there's a longer delay. Again, favouring those who are able to plan ahead or have the disposable cash to pay delivery charges or bulk-buy.

You can see why amazon is so popular, with next day delivery or a low free delivery threshold... Its like the SG have shares in it or something.

NotAnActualSheep · 13/01/2021 16:48

Grin I was about to ask the same thing. And if that qualifies me for a cleaner, why hasn't anyone told me this before...

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2021 17:15

Plus a click and collect service actually keeps some people in work rather than furloughed. Not everyone is eligible; the shop forced to stop C&C might have been staffing it with new staff who couldn't get furlough.

It's just as well I already have half of hobbycraft in the house!

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 17:19

The wee home stores/gift shops here do click and collect 🤷🏻‍♀️

HomeSchoolFailure · 13/01/2021 17:20

I'm sure I heard something on the radio about it being possible for the nhs to vaccinate everyone in the space of five days.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

anon444877 · 13/01/2021 17:26

Ha I'd definitely have a cleaner exemption for anyone home schooling and wfh. I've not avoided alcohol any of the home schooling days so far...must do better.

RaspberryCoulis · 13/01/2021 17:46

Well my cleaner has just texted and said she's happy to come if I'm happy to have her, and that she'll wear a mask if I want her to.

I told her not to be so bloody daft, leave the mask in the car and i'd see her next week.

user1487194234 · 13/01/2021 17:46

My cleaner will continue,thank god

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 17:49

Mine has stopped coming, sob

shouldistop · 13/01/2021 17:49

My cleaner hasn't been since November. She was isolating then it was Christmas then she said she couldn't come when new lockdown was announced.
I had been hoping to get someone in temporarily but looks like I'm onto plums now.

Coquohvan · 13/01/2021 17:55

Regarding alcohol sales. Yes NS can ban alcohol sales, comes under her super dooper “emergency powers”.
A while since I’ve looked them up, there may/not be compensation due.

ikswobel · 13/01/2021 18:37

@RaspberryCoulis please don't put your cleaner in this awkward and illegal position. She needs to wear a mask. She also probably needs her job more than you can imagine. Reading this thread has totally sickened me with Scotsnet.
Will you listen to yourselves moaning about cleaners.
Check your privilege and maybe do some hoovering, it won't kill you.
