thanks for starting it!

titsbumfannythelot · 05/01/2021 16:29

Aloha. Almost at the end of the first working day of 2021.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 05/01/2021 16:30

placemarking

Coquohvan · 05/01/2021 16:43

@Groove humour can be the best uplift, got a mental picture of your mum arriving.

blowinahoolie · 05/01/2021 16:45

Place marking for later.

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 05/01/2021 17:01

Hello 👋

I’m just going to say it. The Celtic drama is a delightful distraction for me right now Grin what an absolute cesspit Twitter can be at times though!

Can’t believe they went to Dubai though - what on Earth were they thinking?? Too bloody big for their boots.

anon444877 · 05/01/2021 17:09

Not just them mama all the insta queens who went to Dubai as it's work because people follow them for the glam pictures. Talk about rotten.

I'm probably jealous though! Would love to be round a pool somewhere hot.

Sturmundcalm · 05/01/2021 17:09

placemarking. shouldn't type anything more as despite managing to stay off the alcohol last night following the announcement I have just had alcohol and crisps and chocolate...

partly think it was seeing the rocketing figures broken down by LA, cause if that continues I think we have a long way to go!

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 05/01/2021 17:11

You are right of course anon

I’m not even arsed about football. Or Celtic. It’s just generally an industry that pisses me off.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 05/01/2021 17:11

Domestic abuse rates increase during old firm matches, makes you wonder why on earth is football permitted to continue during a pandemic that is already placing people in jeopardy. Certainly seems irrational to add into the melting pot an additional stressor.
However I am aware that it is something that provides a topic of conversation away from covid something that is pretty scarce at the moment.

Rae36 · 05/01/2021 17:14

It fucking pisses me off big time that I can't drive to my mums garden, my kids can't go to school, but people can fly in and out, fucking mega rich footballers can go to Dubai. Fuck's sake.

anon444877 · 05/01/2021 17:19

Celtic and the 'influencers' judged the pr of this wrongly, that's definite. An own goal there!

NearWildHeaven · 05/01/2021 17:37

Ditto

Absolutely. And just to add insult to injury Piers Morgan does similar and doesn't even quarantine before arriving back on GMB to lecture us all.

Rae36 · 05/01/2021 17:42

I know someone who flew to America for Christmas to see her family. She is quarantining at home now, but no-one is checking up on her. Do you think I could fly from Edinburgh to Prestwick to see my family? I'd happily quarantine on return since there's fuck all else to do anyway.

Sorry, I don't usually swear so much, i'm usually very mild mannered. But my patience is short today.

RaspberryCoulis · 05/01/2021 17:49

But there is no law against travel. You could go too, if you wanted to. Everyone should be following laws about getting a negative test or quarantining when they return but this is the same rules for everyone. If you want to hop on the daily Emirates flight to Dubai and post loads of selfies when you get there, nobody's stopping you. Not even Nicola.

I'm just really meh about the whole thing today. Went to Home Bargains with DD, bought non-essentials and probably pissed off half of Mumsnet. Don't care. DD bumped into a friend and they gave each other a hug before realising and springing apart. Don't care. Most gloom and doom Facebook friend bleating on about how it's so BUSY and how we all have to do our part. Muted her for a month. Letter received from EastDunbartonshire Council which basically reads blah blah keyworker blah blah vulnerable learning blah blah remote learning. Don't care.

Didn't watch Nippy lecturing at lunchtime because I really have no interest in what she has to say any more.

Ruled · 05/01/2021 17:52

Did you hear the fudged (as always from Bj) answer to school return question during the press briefing?

I'm hoping the SP elections will incentivise a return for children to schools well before the summer Sad

RaspberryCoulis · 05/01/2021 17:54

Oh, and Joe Wicks can FUCK OFF AND NEVER COME BACK.

anon444877 · 05/01/2021 17:58

I thought we were banned by law firm leaving tier 4 in Scotland? I promise to post photos 😀

Lidlfix · 05/01/2021 18:03

Nothing in Home Bargains is non essential! That's why DDs and I (separately of course) queued many times in April and May to enter our local branch. We then cooed adoringly over our (essential tack) purchases after we walked home. It was a ritual.

RaspberryCoulis · 05/01/2021 18:03

People are getting on planes every day at Glasgow airport and flying to Dubai, Belfast, loads of other places. Are the police there quizzing people at departures? Hardly.

Just saw a headline saying Celtic are in Dubai for winter training and St Nicola is "questioning whether they should have gone".

She might like to think she can keep you locked up but I think in the real world the situation is totally different.

RaspberryCoulis · 05/01/2021 18:05

@Lidlfix we bought reduced to clear Christmas scented candles, a mahoosive bar of Milka chocolate and those wee corrector tape strip dispenser stationery things which DD say "make her very happy". All essential purchases I'm sure you'll agree.

littlbrowndog · 05/01/2021 18:13

That’s my trip tomorrow. I love milka chocolate 🍫

Groovee · 05/01/2021 18:15

Dd has been bellowing about Celtic going to Dubai. She doesn't see Dubai as essential travel when they live and play in Scotland.
