Bikingbear · 05/01/2021 18:40

Thinking typing games, anyone know of any other than Dancemat on BBC Bitesize?

I'm thinking DS could do a little typing practice over the next few days so he can type his own answers.

Bikingbear · 05/01/2021 18:43

Meant to say thanks for new thread. Can't believe the speed these are filling up.

fluffyugg · 05/01/2021 18:58

What did BJ say about schools and the Summer holidays? Or maybe I don't want to know...

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/01/2021 19:05

Quite a few folk on us4them being refused school places - including people who on the face of it should be eligible

We're trying to figure out if it's worth trying to run an afternoon/after school service but it's impossible until council confirm everything

Bluff, bluster, hopefully better by spring
Bikingbear · 05/01/2021 19:10

Fluffyugg - he didn't. He mentioned get the elderly/ vulnerable vaccines, by end of January, then 3 weeks for them kick in, then a leg beyond that for hospital cases to drop off.

So really hes given me a bit of hope the schools will go back sometime between Feb half term and Easter holidays. Depending on how the hospitals are coping.

Coquohvan · 05/01/2021 19:11

@Rae36

It fucking pisses me off big time that I can't drive to my mums garden, my kids can't go to school, but people can fly in and out, fucking mega rich footballers can go to Dubai. Fuck's sake.
it’s rubbish. Can’t see our grandchildren I’d only want to cuddle them. There more than 5 miles from council border. Zoom call this afternoon to share the best news, littlest one done her first pp in the potty. 🥳
fluffyugg · 05/01/2021 19:12

Okay, thanks...noticed someone had mentioned summer earlier in the thread which put the fear into me...

Bikingbear · 05/01/2021 19:13

Ok that's based on England, NS is probably following the same timeline but says it differently, emphasising different points, all over 50s vaccinated by May. Teachers are priority but actually doing teachers reduces their risk but doesn't open schools. Schools can only reopen when the NHS has capacity to deal with covid.

Bikingbear · 05/01/2021 19:15

Summer - no way, shes got an election in May just to keep her on her toes!

titsbumfannythelot · 05/01/2021 19:22

I am hoping this is a massive case of under promise, over deliver on the vaccine roll out.

Perhaps in good time for the election.

Bikingbear · 05/01/2021 19:25

The vaccine calculator initially said September or something for me, the it jumped to Jan - June 2022. As it did for a few others on here.
My guess is that blip was a deliberate mistake so they can do the " we managed to pull your date forward to September how wonderful is that" maybe I'm just a cynic.

titsbumfannythelot · 05/01/2021 19:27

2020 most definitely enhanced my cynicism.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 05/01/2021 19:32

Boris is talking BS. No way will as many people as he predicts be vaccinated by Spring. The restrictions will last much longer.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/01/2021 19:45

The thought of schools closed til summer...

blowinahoolie · 05/01/2021 19:49

Can't have this going on until summer. No way.

I'll greet! My mum is adamant next year before any normal! But she is the woman who turns up telling me my dad weighs a tonne 😂
Bikingbear · 05/01/2021 19:56

Boris - vulnerable by Feb ie over 70s & at risk
Nic - over 50s by May

Are they not really saying the same thing?

WouldBeGood · 05/01/2021 19:57

Checking in

shouldistop · 05/01/2021 20:02

SUMMER?!!! Who's saying summer??!! Sad

Aye, just slicing it differently
StatisticallyChallenged · 05/01/2021 20:05

@shouldistop

SUMMER?!!! Who's saying summer??!! Sad
BoZo the floppy haired clown was asked today if he could assure parents all kids back in school by summer. His answer was waffling gibberish filled with no assurance whatsoever
Bikingbear · 05/01/2021 20:07

Groovee - where is he now? I think my Dads loitering in my Mums wardrobe 🤣

I think some SD, in restaurants and screens in shops will be with us through next winter just to be cautious. But the majority of stuff will be open and normally resuming.
Going by the original calculator and allowing for limits on vaccine manufacturing low risk younger adults could be into late Autumn before they are vaccinated and you need 3 weeks beyond first injection.

But schools will be back long before then. They can't have kids missing a year of school. And repeating years isn't really an option either, because it equates to a permanent change to the school system.

anon444877 · 05/01/2021 20:07

Summer? Fingers in ears. One day at a time...bloody hell. 2021, it's like alien 2. Surely it can't be that bad.
