@Worst that link was last updated on 23/12/20 wonder if it’s still to be updated with today’s changes or still valid?

Dinnafashyersel · 04/01/2021 18:19

So MP Margaret Ferrier arrested and charged with culpable and reckless conduct over her journey between Scotland and the Commons after taking Covid test.

according to Chris Musson

Will be an interesting test case on the roolz. Also interesting political timing. Wonder if she will resign now?

Worst · 04/01/2021 18:20

Today’s announcement

Specific section on tradespeople “ Tradespeople should only go into a house to carry out or deliver essential work or services, for example:

to carry out utility (electricity, gas, water, telephone, broadband) safety checks, repairs, maintenance and installations
to carry out repairs and maintenance that would otherwise threaten the household’s health and safety
to deliver goods or shopping, where essential
to deliver, install or repair key household furniture and appliances such as washing machines, fridges and cookers
to support a home move, for example furniture removal”

Apologies, I could have sworn the link I posted previously was from the main “stay at home guidance” announcement page, but doesn’t seem to be.

Thank you so much for this - so basically if you're getting your kitchen fitted the joiner can't come now or the tiler - blooming heck. Never mind.
Coquohvan · 04/01/2021 18:27

Thank you @Worst just checking as a friend is a dog groomer who was allowed to open latterly in May due to working in isolation dog drop of outside, animal welfare they could open.

I saw that BBC are reporting it now too - if she's found guilty surely she will have to resign?
ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 04/01/2021 18:30

Notanactualsheep it's very rare for a teacher to be viewed as a close contact of a student (though obviously we should be as breathing same air for prolonged period) due to under 2m/over 15 mins rule.
Vaccine doesn't sound very useful given what you're saying! What applies to education staff would apply to medical staff too wouldn't it?

WouldBeGood · 04/01/2021 18:36

@NotAnActualSheep there’s no benefit to vaccinating teachers first other than as a sop to the unions

Arkadia · 04/01/2021 18:40

What, the police managed to unearth some new evidence all of a sudden, 2 months on (or whatever time has gone by)?
That sounds even more ridiculous, if that is at all possible.

Rae36 · 04/01/2021 18:40

Following on from the many definitions of nippy, here's a question from The Chase tonight. Although I would always say "I'm away for" rather than "I'm getting"

Brilliant.

Well done Police Scotland. Now prosecute the stupid woman.

Note that parent club is strongly recommending against the use of nannies this time. It was NOT banned last time

So DH can still work as he's a heating engineer who covers social housing. He needs to do safety checks and ensure people have hot water.
StatisticallyChallenged · 04/01/2021 18:55

I think so Groovee - I can see no reason why not

Arkadia · 04/01/2021 18:57

@Groovee, to my astonishment, I had my boiler checked last April...

Groovee · 04/01/2021 18:57

I might not survive him hovering about. I'm hoping I can do some school cover to get me out. My mum lives through the woods from my work so I can pop in on her. She's our extended household.

Groovee · 04/01/2021 18:59

Yeah he worked through out lock down as Westminster refused to allow boiler services to be extended like MOT's. He's had a couple of instances of Covid! One had let the said child out to play despite saying he was isolating. 🤦🏻‍♀️ He nearly lost the plot over it.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 04/01/2021 19:02
@Puffalicious I can't see anything about construction specifically, but its implied that construction can stay open. There is stuff on how you shouldn't use renovating a property as an excuse for a holiday, and stuff on tradespeople entering private houses safely. I would have thought construction was the very definition of work that can't be done from home.
I work in construction and everyone in my work is furloughed apart from a core of emergency staff.

That's brilliant. That's the kind of insightful summary of the new regulations that this thread should be providing. Thank you for highlighting Smile

Puffalicious · 04/01/2021 19:10

Thanks worst et al for construction advice. His boss has been in touch and as they are commercial (not in homes)the site will.stay open for now. Thank God, as as much as I love him he's like a bloody cat on a hot tin roof when he's home, he can't sit down!

Ooooh, I thought things had gone quiet on that front. Interesting timing.

Thanks for this. Totally not the main issue here, but I think we are doomed never to get our doors fitted onto our fitted wardrobes which we're built about a year ago. First company that built them went bust. Second accepted the work but then disappeared and refused to answer our calls, and third has allegedly got the doors but neither of us really wanted him to come on Christmas eve to fit them. Bad decision, sheep. Bad decision...

Can children still use equipment in parks? I stopped listening after about 5 mins, found it really upsetting. How are we back here again?

Goldrill · 04/01/2021 19:24

Hello and sorry to join with a random question; we only moved to Scotland in October so weren't here for lockdown 1. I had it in my head that you weren't allowed more than 5 miles from home for exercise up here - but the new info on the gov site today still has the 5m from council border on; which seems a bit... odd? We're in Perth and Kinross, so that's quite a big area for exercise!

(By the way; thanks very much to those on here who gave me advice before the move. Couldn't afford Bridge of Allan so ended up somewhat north!)

I didn't hear that they can't. I bloody hope so, although it's been so cold I've had to use chocolate buttons to get them out once my thighs start to freeze.
