I appreciate that there are no good options for the SNP and they have clearly made a lot of political capital out of opposing Brexit, but the reality is that that argument was lost back in January when the UK (including Scotland) left the EU and remaining (as a independent country or not) ceased to be an option.

The question now is whether to back a deal or no deal, not whether or not you support Brexit. If no deal is as disastrous as feared, the SNP should vote to avoid it or at least not vote to enable it, recognising that their original wish is no longer an option. I have no respect for MPs who vote against their principles purely as a poltiical stunt. I would have more respect for them if they abstained quite honestly, and they could make the very reasonable argument that they couldn't support either option. This continued rhetoric about how Scotland must be able to choose its own path and remain in the EU while knowing full well that we are not actually in the EU and would have to rejoin (and negotiate those terms) is really disingenuous.

@Bikingbear

Good news on the Oxford vaccine.

I read something about them looking at using football stadiums for the vaccines too. I'd hope by Easter all the over 70s will have been done.

A relative of mine got her flu jab in October at St Mirren football club. So I’d expect to be used again for vaccines.

@WaxOnFeckOff

Why the SNP back no deal brexit

Ah yes, a link to a video by a very outspoken Tory who hates the SNP . Great piece of non partial information there (!) You'll need to keep working on your persuasion skills WaxOn.
tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 30/12/2020 14:38

Finding information that is impartial on this subject is nigh on impossible.

And nobody here needs to be persuaded, we respect our differing views.

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 14:38

I didn't claim it was non partial? Not trying to persuade anyone either. Funnily enough that's not the stated objective of any of the other parties, none of which I am a member off or advocate for. It's easier to just call someone a tory or biased though than actually argue a case for SNP.

Time and again they are caught out in lies and sheer fuckery for no other agenda than independence. Why not prove to the people of Scotland that they can successfully run the country instead of just blaming everyone else for their fuck ups?

Outsidemum1 · 30/12/2020 14:59

@WaxOnFeckOff On a pp there was factual information re the make up of WM/ how each party was voting and you responded with - “go back to SNP college to learn to persuade better." Now, you put up a video by a well known campaigner for the Conservatives. Yet I can't say you're trying to persuade? Utter hypocrisy 🙄.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 30/12/2020 15:02

Nipoleon giving a statement soon. Likely to put Shetland in tier 4. Wonder what else she'll announce.

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 15:08

I was quoting directly from Nicola Sturgeon on the SNP college testimonials in terms of the persuasion point - maybe you missed the earlier bit?

But we are back to, if someone happens to give any opinion or facts about the SNP and their record, obviously they are a Tory and even worse, an english tory and yet you make no comment to deny that what he has said is not true. So, can you deny that SNP has voted against or abstained from every vote regarding a trade deal and yet whinged about them not being rolled over? Or what about the big lie about having Margaret Thatcher thrust upon SCotland when they are the ones that enabled that to happen in the first place? (not in the video but also true) or what about the currency issue or the fact that actually the whole EU friends thing is an invention just to stir the pot?

Outsidemum1 · 30/12/2020 15:28

WaxOn of course people can challenge the SNP. The video channel you shared is a YouTube channel by Mahyar Tousi who is a campaigner for the Conservatives. I guess you didn't realise this.

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 15:35

Oh I did realise it. Does that mean therefore as he is a tory and english that what he says isn't true? That's the point I was making. Everyone has a view or an agenda, I'm just not sure why you are concentrating on who or what he is rather than what he says. I don't support any particular party. Have I ever voted for the Tories? No. Would I? Possibly, depends who is in the best position to oust any SNP MP, MSP, councillors etc.

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/12/2020 15:37

This whole thread seems to have gone unpleasantly party political tbh - and it actually wasn't before, at least not like this. I'd say it's been thoroughly derailed.

Does anyone know when Nic is speaking?

WouldBeGood · 30/12/2020 15:39

I agree @StatisticallyChallenged.

Could we keep this thread for tiers and lockdown concerns/thoughts and giant crackers?

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 15:39

I agree Statistically and I apologise for my part in it.

No idea when she is speaking but sure it will be more doom and gloom so will check in for updates later. Hoping that steak pies are not outlawed. Unless we are all meant to have our own individual ones?

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/12/2020 15:41

Individual pies, no shared gravy boats remember?! Grin

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 15:42

Could maybe carve our initials in the pastry

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 15:43

Maybe nic is currently trying to summon up a snow storm like the beast from the east to keep us all locked up and unable to go anywhere?

WouldBeGood · 30/12/2020 15:44

My kazoo crackers were fun but a clear Covid hazard.

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 15:45

Tier 6 or whatever we are on, weather armageddon to ensure compliance with lock down. No sledging or hot chocolate allowed. You can make a snowman but it must be your own individual snowman and be at least 2 meters distant from anyone elses...

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 15:49

@WouldBeGood

My kazoo crackers were fun but a clear Covid hazard.
Christ, next you'll be telling us you got the karaoke machine out - granny killer!!!
Outsidemum1 · 30/12/2020 15:51

Huh? Yesterday you were all discussing your views re the SNP not voting for the Brexit deal (and wanting an extension due to being in the midst of the Covid crisis but you missed that bit out).
Today, because I've pointed out that WaxOn's shared a video from a Tory campaigner putting forth views on the SNP, it's turned 'unpleasantly party political.'
OK👌 Return to your echo chamber.

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/12/2020 15:54

Vaccine second dose can be up to 12 weeks after first dose so second doses delayed

Oxford vaccine from Monday

Restrictions; bla tiers bla, analysis shows 42.8% of tests processed yesterday are the new strain - fast becoming dominant strain.
Can't rule out even tighter restrictions, will keep parliament updated
Continue to assess whether it will be possible to open schools on 18th - still plan/target

Stay at home as much as possible, stay as close to home as possible (just repeating the rules re travel)

Hogmanay; glad to see back of 2020, vaccine gives hope - bla bla be responsible stay the fuck at home

It's perfectly fine to realise that actually a conversation has been totally derailed and is becoming unpleasant. 👌

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/12/2020 15:59

Thanks for the synopsis Statistically.

Echo chamber voices of sanity and reason is a cosy and warm, fun place to be. Crackers and chat, to get us through until our ‘saving’ in March.

Note Queen Nic said nothing of any substance today and wished us all a happy new year. Interesting comms positioningHmm probably letting Boris have his moment today at whatever time he turns up for the 5pm showtime.
Will deliver response/amends to our restrictions based on whatever England has, next week?
