@anon444877 my dcs also request bought cake 😂

Damn, I was going to go to Keswick this weekend before the incarceration but going further east.. still pass Penrith though 😃

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 08:36

God, don’t want pie temptation: I’m attempting to lose weight so that if I do die of Covid at least it won’t be cos I’m obese.

WaxOnFeckOff · 29/10/2020 08:44

Meat and potato for you then. Can't go wrong with mince and mash, defo better than pastry for a diet. They have a café but not certain if they are open as we were too mask distracted and rushing about.

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 08:45

yeah same here, it's hard to eat mindfully when your social options include freezing in the cold!

WaxOnFeckOff · 29/10/2020 08:52

I don't want to turn this into a diet thread, but I'm doing well with intermittent fasting.

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 08:53

oh yes, I managed to pull off about 4 Kg doing that, then had a break - haven't regained but time for a new campaign! But yes, not a diet thread!!

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 09:01

So.. will NS listen to Lanarkshire police, councils and NHS Lanarkshire, or will she go for tier 4 regardless?

StatisticallyChallenged · 29/10/2020 09:03

Hard to tell. It will, i think, make folk in artificially high areas go WTF and nay reduce they're compliance

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 09:03

and why is home visiting such a transmission problem in Scotland when Germany's 'lockdown light' still lets 2 households (with 10 people) meet indoors?

my sister says the national gallery has contacted her today to offer her a rebook of tickets so clearly they're expecting tier 3 in Edinburgh.

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 09:04

@StatisticallyChallenged good to see some evidence that schools aren't a significant problem for spreading here.

ssd · 29/10/2020 09:08

I'd never heard of Booths, but OMG that catalogue is amazing. I'll need to remember then next time we go near that area. I do remember the really nice food bit inside Fenwicks in Newcastle, its probably gone now.

I tend to go to asda as its nearish and I know the aisles off by hand. I go to the other supermarkets as a treat.
But ifi won the lottery I'd get the butler to drive to booths every week Grin

ssd · 29/10/2020 09:12

I don't think anywhere will be tier 4 today but the threat of it will be there for north and south Lanarkshire if they don't behave.
We'll be tier 3 but we've been teir 3 for ages anyway here in Glasgow.

I can't really be bothered listening to it all, we'll keep doing what we have been doing for ever.

WaxOnFeckOff · 29/10/2020 09:18

As I've said, I've no desire to see anywhere face a more severe lock down than is currently in place but I will be even more furious if places such as Stirling, Falkirk, East and mid Lothian get put into the same category as the Lanarkshires etc.

It just makes a mockery of the whole tier process if half the population can only move down when they do.

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 09:20

@WaxOnFeckOff maybe, but it makes my life much less awful. I need to keep going to the gym for my sanity.

I want hairdressers and shops open for their livelihoods after trying so hard. And

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 09:22

Plus I trust the council, police and NHS more than the SG as they are the ones actually dealing with things

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 09:29

They may run the risk of really losing goodwill if they go for 4 and 3 rather than 3 and 2 if they have to increase them again closer to December. I much prefer the French approach - most severe restriction should be primarily because the NHS is in serious danger of tanking which they've clearly indicated here they are not.

But obviously I'm an epidemiology expert (not). Right off to buy m&s cake.

WaxOnFeckOff · 29/10/2020 09:30

I agree and I think you know my views about lock down in general. But, if they leave Lanarkshires on tier 3 then they should be moving other areas to a 2 or less. Not that they care as we can't do anything about it. We have no representation that isn't snp and we know they aren't allowed or minded to disagree with the esteemed leader.

Anyone know what time they are going to confirm the levels?

StatisticallyChallenged · 29/10/2020 09:34

I don't disagree wouldbegood - it's horrendous.

But they can't (well...they can) come up with a system and then immediately be so inconsistent with it. I know I'd be sitting thinking what's the point, whether cases are high or low we get the same rules anyway. Compliance would go through the floor I think.

I don't think businesses should be shut. I run a business so I know how hard it is to survive enforced closure, we had over 4 months of it

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 09:36

BBC says 12:20 - although they refer to tier 0 as 'almost normal' which is a mis-characterisation! Yes I agree, should be 3 and 2...or better yet, an even better system altogether.

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 09:38

the mind boggles how we can have the of scotland in tiers 1-4 and none of them allow indoor household mixing. I know there are other important differences but for parents of kids who are not outdoorsy and like to sit with coffee or tea and think about the remnants of their life whilst the kids screech about upstairs, it all looks about the same!

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 09:38

Well.. that would be even better as more stuff will be open in Glasgow 😃

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 09:39

yep agree statistically business owners must have mental health absolutely in the quagmire at the moment.

WaxOnFeckOff · 29/10/2020 09:43

Yes, the "Nearly Normal" that is no where like normal life. I can't watch it, with the fake wee sad coupon and the head tilt about how sad it all is...

I'm sure it will be published quick enough, there will be a wee twitter storm and then everything will carry on as before. The folks that have been frightened into compliance doing what they are told to the letter, the knobs doing what knobs do and the folk in the middle mostly abiding but seething about it.

LizzieMacQueen · 29/10/2020 09:48

Seeing how things have developed in the last 24 hours in France and Germany, I think tiers will be abandoned UK-wide in favour of a full lockdown 😟

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 09:51

I disliked the rhetoric about how we're all in this together and look at France and Germany - they've done some quite different things (because they've got different circumstances) so the idea it's the same all across Europe is misleading propaganda again.

Fascinating to see what history makes of this. It's funny, snp othering of near neighbours yet common causing constantly with Europe. You'd think they had an underlying agenda or something!
