2 households

I'm a bit sad about the change to only 2 households meeting up. For the past few weeks since the kids have been back at school I've met 2 friends once a week to eat lunch. We're all working from home, we just take an hour off in a Monday, bring our lunch and eat it together in someone's garden. It's been so nice. And now we can't any more.
And I think this is us for the winter, isn't it?

Ok, which virus can leave a previously very healthy 20 year old struggling to shower and on crutches months after having the original illness?

I’d be interested too to know how long Covid differs from post viral syndromes generally. My tutor at uni was off for a full term with post viral symptoms after the flu about a decade ago and a friend at work was also off for ages after pneumonia a couple of years ago.

Flowers for anyone who’s still ill.

Obviously Covid and Long Covid are new so nobody really knows but I've a friend who's suffering Long Covid, 6 mths from when she first took it. I also know of two other very fit people who are continuing to suffer.

The only other people I've came across in my lifetime with Post viral symptoms have been a man who had hearing damaged by meningitis and a man with paralysis from polio.

Friends dh was very I'll with pneumonia several years ago and felt the effects for over a year. He suffered huge weight loss, loss of muscle tone and fatigue.

Should have said " very ill"

The BMJ opinion blog of 3rd September has a really interesting piece on Long Covid by medics who are suffering from what they are calling Long COVID. That has links to a previous article where the difference to post viral symptoms and need for further research featured. Think it was Agent who was interested. They are opinion pieces so I know that it doesn't speak for all medics, before I get jumped on, just interesting reads especially for those not fully recovered.
