Is Nicola Sturgeon being too cautious now

Listening to her briefing it sounds like there will be no easing of restrictions until the schools are back and settled

With infections at such a low rate should we not be getting back to something closer to normal?

People are losing their jobs every day and she doesnt seem bothered

What does everyone else think?

I actually do agree that travel restrictions to and from REGIONS of England/U.K. that are currently under enhanced restrictions themselves is sensible.

But people in areas like Greater Manchester are not being told to stay at home. They are allowed to travel, the rules which have changed are around social gatherings inside.

Starting talking of restrictions on travel fuels the fire of the numpties who think it's OK to stand at Central Station or on the A1 at Berwick with their nasty, racist banners.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 01/08/2020 13:35

That’s a fair point @SockYarn. I don’t know how you justify going further than the restrictions those people themselves are under.

And yes, she absolutely needs to stamp out the nastier anglophobic elements of her movement who are using this as an excuse to flaunt their true colours. It’s absolutely unacceptable and puts Scotland in a very bad light, and she’s been far too slow to shut this down IMO.

SockYarn · 01/08/2020 13:40

Humza Yousaf issued a very strong condemnation about the racists at Berwick.

But it's total radio silence from Sturgeon. The extremists in her party take that silence as approval.

sonicbook · 01/08/2020 13:54

We need Ruth.

Send out a bat signal. Call her in!
🤣🤣🤣

Wtf do you need her for? Hmm

britINscotland · 01/08/2020 13:59

she was a strong opposition leader compared to those we have now.

Anyway, we are just back from a dog walk at loch lomond. Full of people. no social distancing. not a mask in sight and lots of English accents heard. Also traffic was crazy.

SockYarn · 01/08/2020 14:01

lots of English accents heard

One of them was probably DH. He's up there with DS. He's lived in Scotland for 25 years. Hmm And you don't need a mask outside!

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/08/2020 14:04

Hmm - well you were there too? And I don't know what people having English accents has to do with it. Things are open, people are allowed to travel, you don't need a mask outdoors.... Confused

Yes radio silence will last a couple of days until she assesses what direction the wind is blowing and then it'll be a whisper so as to not offend all the lunatics she needs to keep on-side.

If she offends this lot then she loses the votes she needs, simple as that, anyone caught in the crossfire is just collateral damage and not worth caring about.

Offensive rubbish.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/08/2020 14:12

So then sonic, care to link to her condemnation then? That was exactly the scenario when the protests at the border happened.

SockYarn · 01/08/2020 14:19

There isn't one. She's too busy tweeting links to work by faithful supporters like Elaine C Smith and retweeting Scot Gov stuff.

sonicbook · 01/08/2020 14:22

No you're right the SNP rely on a handful of idiots at a train station. Hmm

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/08/2020 14:23

Same as last time, lots of tweets etc about other stuff.

If she wasn't tweeting at all that would be fair enough, she is allowed some down time and time off. I might not agree with her but I can't deny she works hard and puts in the hours (so it appears anyway).

SockYarn · 01/08/2020 14:23

So why are the leadership not taking steps to distance themselves from these idiots?

By saying nothing, they are giving these racists permission to carry on with their bollocks.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/08/2020 14:25

@sonicbook

Yep and all the idiots that agree with them but couldn't be arsed going to the train station.

I am never going to say that the that is the only type of supported the SNP has as that is patently not true. There are however a visible number of these idiots and when the leader doesn't immediately condemn them, it sends a strong message to everyone.

Where I live lots of locals have English accents. And as others have said, you don't need a mask outdoors
sonicbook · 01/08/2020 14:33

Sweeping generalisations as usual based on your feeling of a situation rather than actual facts but hey ho. Never let the truth get in the way of your wee moans! 😊

Yep, that's true, sweeping generalisations never feature from the SNP, it's just us "bad" folk that think like that.

Funnily enough it's more based on the number of bampots I see in real life or those on social media - although those could be anti SNP just trying to stir up trouble for the all the lovely folk...

sonicbook · 01/08/2020 15:29

It's not me that's saying anyone is 'bad' that's you.

sonicbook · 01/08/2020 15:31

Sorry I'll change that to sweeping generalisations based on your experiences of your own circle of associates.

britINscotland · 01/08/2020 15:50

I was meaning English visitors dont seem to have been deterred

And if you can barely move for people, then masks can help outside, and I dont even like masks

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/08/2020 15:50

Nothing to do with my circle of associates - what a sweeping genralisation...

I am never going to say that the that is the only type of supporter the SNP has as that is patently not true.

Maybe that was a sweeping generalisation too? You just cherry pick what you want.

Still waiting on something from the great leader though....

sonicbook · 01/08/2020 15:51

@WaxOnFeckOff so do you. You said you were basing it on 'bampots' you knew from real life and social media.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/08/2020 15:53

@britINscotland

I was meaning English visitors dont seem to have been deterred

How do you know they were even visitors?

If it was that crowded why didn't you just go somewhere else?

Funny that people think that they are not the problem while being part of the problem.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/08/2020 15:56

No you are mistaken

bampots I see in real life "See", not know. And funnily enough I also don't need to know people posting on social media...

I'm on here and I don't know everyone on here in real life. And before you say it, I am not making a sweeping generalisation that everyone on here is a bampot.
