Results Day 2018

Hi everyone

Thought that as the 7th is fast approaching, it would be worth doing a thread to for the day and the build up.

Dd needs a B in anything to get into Uni and ds is getting his Nat5 results. Will be a tense morning.

First timer here (well, apart from when I was doing exams myself back in the day)!! DD awaing results for 8 Nat 5s tomorrow. She's decided to wait for the post, didn't sign up for text or email. ..I am off work for the morning to see how she gets on.

I'm unexpectedly off tomorrow too. Was supposed to be off next week but it suited everyone better for me to be off some days this week instead. DS2 also not signed up for text/email (as far as I know). Ds1 signed up last year so presume he will still be on the list for that. Royal Mail has been arriving between 10 and 11 but appreciate it will be busier than normal tomorrow.

For some reason I thought results day was Wednesday so I feel good that the suspense will be over one day sooner. dS1 says he refuses to open the envelope, traumatised by poor results last time so it will be me, post doesn't generally arrive until after lunch though...

Joining in. Tension levels have risen dramatically here and DS2 is by turns snappy, panicky and uncaring.
He is waiting for Nat5s. We haven’t done them before because DS1 did Standard grades.
We did not have the greatest prelim results so he is very worried. I keep saying, ‘You worked as hard as you could, we will deal with it when it comes’, but apparently this is not helpful.
And in fact I probably won’t deal with it when it comes because I am going to Edinburgh tomorrow and leaving him with DH. Hopefully I will get an excited text on the train. I am not sure how I am going to deal with having to talk him down if everything goes tits up.

Ds is nervous about his Nat5 results, but cant see anything too untoward happening with him, really.

Dd1 has her S6 results and is bricking it! She needs an A and a B to get into Glasgow School of Art. She's capable of it, but is trying not to get her hopes up just in case. She has a good alternate portfolio course set up, and will re-try GSA next year if she doesn't.

Pay off is tonight she is tidying her pit bedroom as displacement activity!

I think I’m the only one feeling the tension in my house. DC1 waiting for results on 2AH and 2Hs, DC1 thinks that they’ve done ok but nothing actually required, I’d just like for them to finish on a high! DC2, 7 nat5s, results should be ok, just really want good results in the subjects they’re taking next year - DC2 is v calm but I know they’ll be upset if they haven’t done well.

Hi All thought I would join you all as am completely stressed oot! This my 4th results day but Dd first. She has taken 8 Nat5s and has such high expectations of herself. I am trying to manage these incase it doesn’t go as she hopes but she reads this as me not believing in her!! Can’t win as a parent! Know it’s only Monday but can feel a large glass of🍷is the only amswer😂😂

I'm not well. GP wanted me to go to hospital which before I went in I planned to say yes but then I panicked and said no. Knowing my luck they would have kept me in and due to circumstances at dh's work he wouldn't have got tomorrow off.

Their auntie checked their cousin's ucas earlier but it's not available. Their cousin is touring Europe at the mo. Hoping she gets into Aberdeen x

UCAS won't open till 9am tomorrow.

Waiting for 2 set of results here with mixed levels of confidence. Haven't got time to post more tonight but good luck everyone.

To everyone else, I hope your ds and dd do well. I must admit I fail to understand what a stressful time it was for my Mom, at the time of my results

Just found out that ds hasn't signed up to the text results, only the email results - despite last year it taking until c11.30 for the email to come through

I know his results don't matter as he has an unconditional, but I'm not sure my nerves can take this

Forget about ds, I want to know his results before I leave for my Pilates class at 9.45

I know DS1 signed up to something last year but can't now remember what it was think it might be email as well. Looks like we will both be waiting on postie.

Just looked at last years thread...DS1 only got email, it arrived after 1pm and went into spam folder so be aware to check there.

I've been up and down all night, not sure if it's nerves or because I have been ill. At least the pain relief is working.

I'm feeling guilty that DD will get the attention partially because she's a bloody drama queen and because this decides where she's living. I'm still not happy with her back up plan. I do have plan C in my head 😂.

I also fully expect a phone call at 8.05 from a family member wanting to know Ds's results as he is the same age as her child! 🙄

Poor you Groovee I do hope you feel better today. Like you have been up and down all night wasn’t like this for Ds!! Dd is still in the land of nod thankfully I am sitting with a cup of hot water trying to calm my stomach down! Wishing all the young people well and in life some folk take the motorway to their destination and others the scenic route with lots of experiences they may never have had. Sending virtual hugs to all the mums and dads out there the waiting is the worst!

Dd already has an unconditional place at Glasgow so the pressure is off here today but most of her friends are anxious about today to see if they get the marks to secure their places.

I have barely slept all night - DD just got up for the toilet and attempted to go back to bed - she is now sat in the living room with me

Well that was s long night,veterans of the text- what time do they come ? Does SQA hit a huge send button or do they "begin" to filter out from 8?

Dd got 2 A's and a B. So she'll get into uni.

However ds got nat4 maths as he got an F in maths. And I will demanding he swaps teacher this year as the one he got has completely failed him.

He got mostly C's and 1 A and a D
