Practicals have already started for many, folios are being worked on... here's the 2028 thread to get us through.

I have Dd sitting 3 highers and D's sitting 6 Nat 5's. Oh the stress.

DD2 just gave DD3 a Good Luck card for her Maths tomorrow (sniff sniff). Despite being in the throes of college work she remembered her wee sis.

I can't wait for Maths to be over! She's not sleeping and getting paler by the day.

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/05/2018 22:05

That's lovely Lidl I really get the thought behind that and they can bring a tear to a glass eye sometimes.

Ds1 has spent hours going over past papers with Ds2 today. Ds2 said to me earlier that despite being the younger he feels very protective of his brother. I love the fact that they are so close and look after each other. He even attempted to have lunch all ready for DS1 coming home from his exam. He burnt the toast and Ds1 had to sort the eggs out when he got in but I thought it was very sweet that he tried.

No-one sorted out the kitchen afterwards right enough so I know where I come in the pecking order.

That's lovely Lidl Flowers

Woke up at midnight to Dd giving her wee bro some advice for this morning 💞 they do have a lovely sibling relationship at times. Think they'll miss each other come her moving out!

This will be a long morning, thankfully my whole day is taken up with a whole school event so I can't harass the Maths department for their thoughts on the paper - until lunchtime...

Wax the burnt toast and kitchen chaos is adorable Grin

prettybird · 04/05/2018 08:31

That's lovely Groovee (I'd never wanted ds to be an "only" but that's the card I was dealt)

Hope ds1's support for ds2 pays off for his Nat 5 Maths Wax

Good luck to everyone today.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/05/2018 08:41

pb there are advantages to both being a singleton and having siblings. I always felt that neither of mine got the attention they could have had as I was always harassed and that their confidence suffered as a consequence.

And yes, best of luck to all and hoping for an easy paper.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/05/2018 08:43

Oh and I'd love to hear the feedback on the paper when you get it lidl

Groovee · 04/05/2018 09:38

I'm the baby of 4 but I was born when they were teens so they had left by the time I was at school. I thought Dd would be an only though after the ending of my pregnancy with her. So I do love their relationship. They do fight a lot. Dd is very entitled at times.

Hoping maths is going ok. I have peace as Dd is at her work experience.

Maths over. It was better than he thought.

Modern Studies and Graphic Communication next week.

I've not heard yet but hoping DS thinks the same. H Moden Studies and English for him next week and that's him done. DS1 has AH Physics next week then a bit of a long break until AH Computer Science on 22nd I think.

howabout · 04/05/2018 13:24

DD2 thought it was OK. She is a lot happier now the first one is out the way. I never really know what my 2 think though because they discuss everything with each other.

I have a late DD3 and so re the earlier discussion my poor deprived middle child is always telling me how much more patient I am with her than I ever was when I was juggling the other 2 and doing Biff and Chip etc on repeat.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/05/2018 13:26

All I have to offer is that it was alright.

ttlshiwwya · 04/05/2018 14:16

First one for my DD and she said it was easy compared to the prelim.

Her next exam isn't until the 13th when she has four in a row, a day off and then another. Her last exam is the 30th of May.

weegiemum · 04/05/2018 14:38

My 2 (ds in S4, dd1 in S6, resitting) thought it was fine. Well, dd1 thinks she's passed and ds said it was "piss-easy", but he's a cocky brat sometimes!

Next week he has nat5 Physics and dd1 has H Graphics. She needs an A in that for GSA entry, if she can get it. That'll be her finished, bar the art folio. Ds isn't finished until Gaidhlig on 4th June!

Talking of nice sibling relationships, she took him out for lunch after the exam.

Lidlfix · 04/05/2018 15:56

Maths teachers were quite pleased with the papers and not surprised as first year of new set up "has to show positive change". DD3?now chattering randomness as she deals with the adrenaline Grin

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/05/2018 16:11

DS2 thought the 2nd paper was better than the first and feels optimistic that he may have a D Hmm

WickedGoodDoge · 04/05/2018 17:01

DS was very happy with the Nat5 Maths test today as well. Said the second paper was far more straightforward than expected.

He had Spanish on Monday- easily his weakest subject- and was happy with that as well. I’m just glad he lucked out and had it first!

ttlshiwwya · 04/05/2018 19:04

DDs friend also thought Spanish fair. She was regretting switching languages in S3.

WickedGoodDoge · 04/05/2018 19:19

Yeah, DS switched from Mandarin to Spanish halfway through S2. There was no way he would have passed Mandarin! It’s highly unlikely he’ll get an A in Spanish, but I’m hoping for a B (prelim was one mark off a B). He just hates languages!

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/05/2018 21:49

Physics tomorrow - good luck to all those sitting!

Sturmundcalm · 07/05/2018 22:06

DD thinks she is "too calm" for tomorrow, and has found a marking scheme online for the AH Maths last week and thinks she might be struggling to even get a B.

Glad we have a long gap before going through this with DS - feel for those who dealing with more than one at a time!!

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/05/2018 22:15

DS hasn't mentioned what he thinks he might get for AH maths. However we haven't yet had the reward conversation so that might be revealing depending on what deal he tries to do! He did a little bit if study today but is so laid back as to be horizontal. DS2 did some study for H modern studies on Wednesday.

prettybird · 07/05/2018 23:38

Ds is relatively relaxed about tomorrow's AH Physics - in fact, he says he thinks he has studied too much for it as his priority is the Modern Studies Higher the following day.

He chose not to go to a BBQ that his friends were going to this evening. As it was, he finished his studying by 6 and could have gone - but says that he's glad he made the decision not to go as he'd have had it at the back of his mind during the day whether he'd have time to go and that would've affected his concentration.

Two of the friends who were going are also sitting AH Physics tomorrow - but they then have big gaps until their next exams.

As it was, ds was able to enjoy our own braai (showing my South African roots Wink) outside for the 1st time this year and we actually had a decent conversation with him Shock

He then blotted his copy book later by getting stroppy when I asked him to bring down the many dirty glasses he had in his room as I needed one of them as my measure to make him the granola he likes for breakfast tomorrow Confused

(I'm still up because even though I said I wouldn't bother doing it for him given his attitude, the granola is currently baking in the oven)

Toot · 08/05/2018 09:26

You are a good Mum Prettybird - hope he enjoyed the granola. My lad has gone off to do H Physics and might need that goodluck Wax - so hard for them to study in one of the few nice days we'll have this Summer. Once this is out of the way we have nearly 2 weeks off before our final 2 (Chemistry and CS).
