Practicals have already started for many, folios are being worked on... here's the 2028 thread to get us through.

I have Dd sitting 3 highers and D's sitting 6 Nat 5's. Oh the stress.

Nat5 Chemistry today followed by Philosophy and Computing Science tomorrow then Engineering Science on Thursday! I think I’ll be as glad when this week is done as DS. Grin

Groovee · 21/05/2018 12:24

Ds about to go to Chemistry.

Dd doesn't have her next ones until Thursday Friday next week.

OP posts:
IHaveBrilloHair · 21/05/2018 12:46

Well that's Dd finished, we both survivedGrin

Yogafailure · 21/05/2018 12:58

DD is finished now....she managed to go into school and sit all her papers but lord knows what the results will be like Hmm. Higher chemistry "wasn't good but wasn't bad"

My main concern now is she returns to school to start S6 in June without any more panic attacks and that her appetite continues to grow

pmac62 · 21/05/2018 17:07

DS said the higher chemistry was hard, but not a total stinker!

weegiemum · 22/05/2018 13:47

Ds had chemistry yesterday and won't be drawn on how it went - he was determined to fail just to prove some stupid 16-year-old point about poor teaching, taking no responsibility for it at all. I'm actually quite cross with him.

Today is computing, which he's good at, so hopefully in a better mood today when he gets home. Then its a week until Art. Dd1 is still up to her ears in AH Art folio, though she handed in H Photography yesterday, thank goodness.

Toot · 22/05/2018 13:50

Ds had Chemistry yesterday and is in CS now - that is us done - Yay! Grin Thanks for being a place to vent and worry ladies xx

ttlshiwwya · 22/05/2018 15:12

Two left for my DD. RMPS on bank holiday Monday and Art on the Wednesday after. DD hoping to switch schools for S5/6 so waiting to hear whether she gets her placing request.

WickedGoodDoge · 22/05/2018 15:58

I haven’t heard from DS yet about either Philosophy or Computing Science and am resisting the urge to message him. Hopefully they went OK. Last exam on Thursday!

WickedGoodDoge · 22/05/2018 17:03

Well DS thought both went well. He then started moaning about Engineering Science on Thursday after looking at the times for it. Moan moan moan about the exam being nearly three hours long and how unfair that was. I ignored him because the exam is from 1:00-2:50!!!!!

Finally he stopped and said, “Ohhhhhhhhh.” “Shit. Maybe I haven’t done as well on Maths as I think.” Grin Grin Grin

Toot · 22/05/2018 17:03

I am now on a sugar high after having celebratory cake and coffee on the way home from school CakeBrew Best of luck to everyone with exams left to go.

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/05/2018 19:21

Glad we are all getting to the finish line. DS1 had AH CS today which was "fine". That's him all done with school.

weegiemum · 22/05/2018 20:26

We've still got 2 to go. Ds has Art next week but Gaidhlig isn't until 4th June, and they're back in to start S5 on the 5th.

Dd1 still has the folio/dissertation for AH Art which is due a week tomorrow.

I'm going to be sitting here all alone by then!

Groovee · 22/05/2018 21:05

Dd doesn't finish until the 1st. I'm here for the full exam time 😭

OP posts:
weegiemum · 29/05/2018 11:51

All quiet here today - dd1 has gone into school to put the finishing touches to the AH Art portfolio which she's been working at for the last year but the last days Really Count.

Ds has Nat5 art tomorrow. Still not finished until next Monday!

pmac62 · 29/05/2018 13:50

Thats my DS finished! He had PE this morning so fingers cross! Good luck for those who are still sitting exams

weegiemum · 30/05/2018 10:48

Art & Design this afternoon, ds is away into school to revise.

Also the day that AH Art Folios are sent off - dd1 is away in to look it over one last time and package it up. Her Art teacher predicts an A - she's worked really, really hard and produced some outstanding work, I'm just so impressed with her abilities. Really hoping for an A and B in her highers so she can go direct to GSA without the folio year.

Groovee · 30/05/2018 13:59

Dd has exams tomorrow and Friday. Then she's finished. Prom next week. Time is flying past.

OP posts:
weegiemum · 01/06/2018 16:18

Prom tonight for dd1. Its literally taken her all day to get ready! She's looking stunning, though.

Ds sulky, still has an exam on Monday!

Groovee · 01/06/2018 17:13

We're done.

On Monday I will come home from work and dd will be at work and ds back to S5. My house will be tidy without every pot pan utensil used. Yippee 🎉🎉🎉

OP posts:
prettybird · 01/06/2018 18:21

Ds' prom is not until the end of the month! Shock

Good luck to Weegiemum's ds for Monday.

Toot · 03/06/2018 20:43

Asking now as I hope it will be fresh in everyone's mind Smile, if your DD or DS did Higher English this exam diet, what did you buy them that they found useful? Just hit Leckie and Leckie and Bright Red but is there anything else I could get my DS who is starting Higher English when his 6th Form starts on Tuesday?

He is also doing Advanced Higher Mathematics and Advance Higher Mechanics of Mathematics. Again I got a few things from Leckie and Leckie/Bright Red for Mathematics but found nothing for Mechanics - anyone got any ideas of what might be helpful for either Maths course?

prettybird · 03/06/2018 21:29

Bought ds (for last year) "How to pass Higher English" which he has now belatedly acknowledged was helpful for his close reading.

For AH Maths, I think he just used on-line past papers and all the homework he was given.

I actually didn't buy him anything this year - he was confident about his (crash) Modern Studies Higher and not particularly motivated about his AH Physics (which he also revised using on-line past papers). I think he also used resources on Glow.

Lidlfix · 04/06/2018 08:02

English teacher and skint owner of 4 DDs (including one starting Higher English tomorrow also) I quite like How to Pass and Bright Red Publishing as study guides. I don't like the Leckie and Leckie practice papers as they don't match up with SQA papers fully enough for me. I bought them first year of Higher as I'd exhausted all sample materials but now that there are 4 years of SQA papers and Prelims only my very eager pupils have asked to use them .

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/06/2018 11:00

That's my baby boy away to 6th year this morning :(

DS1s prom is next week.

I didn't get DS2 any study guides for Higher English, or anything else for that matter as he didn't bother opening any of the Nat5 ones so it seemed pointless. I did offer though... and I think he may have had a flick through the Nat5 maths one for his resit.

DS1 didn't want any for his AHs (Maths, Physics and CS) he didn't bother studying until day before either unconditionalitis he says it's pointless as he knows everything (literally), he just needs to refresh himself the day before....I'm saying nothing until results arrive as to how succesful (or otherwise) this strategy might be.

It was the "How to pass" books that we used.
