My dd1 is in s4 and about to sit 8 Nat5s. I don't know who is more wound up about it - her or me! (and I'm a teacher!!).

Wondered if there's anyone else out there to hold hands with?

DD is sitting English, Maths, Ghaidlig (Gaelic native speaker), French, History, Art & Design, Physics and Design & Manufacture. First is English on 5th May.

Kr1stina · 31/05/2016 16:41

How was art ?

OneMagnumisneverenough · 31/05/2016 17:02

"Fine" Kr1stina is all I know :) Thanks for asking.

Kr1stina · 31/05/2016 17:15

I'm not sure if that's better or worse that " ok " . Grin

Groovee · 31/05/2016 17:16

Hope Art went well!

OneMagnumisneverenough · 31/05/2016 17:41

ha ha. On further questioning it went better than the prelim - which he got 35% in so I'm glad about that. It's only worth 20% of the total mark though so time will tell. He got to type it too so hopefully it helps. They might also take pity on the artwork produced by someone whose handwriting is so bad he needed to type the exam so they could read it :o

prettybird · 31/05/2016 18:02

Glad to hear Art went well(ish)

Ds is out enjoying his free week sitting inside a cinema on a gloriously sunny day Hmm

His rugby trial yesterday went well - all 20 minutes he had on Hmm (there were 8 scrum halfs and it only lasted 1.5 hours rather than the 2 hours they expected Hmm). He should find out later this week if he's been selected - at least he doesn't have to wait until 9 August.

He's pleased with his performance - managed a good scrum-half style break (ball popped out of the opposition scrum, their scrum half hesitated so he picked it up and ran and managed to offload it while taking the tackle Smile) and a try-saving tackle. So he's done what he can - it's now up to what the selectors saw and/or were looking for.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 31/05/2016 18:08

That sounds good re the trial pb. I meant to ask yesterday and it clean went out my head. DS is finished now but DH has told him he needs to clear everything out from his temporary study tomorrow and then we are picking his equipment up for DofE after tea. He then needs to sort his bag etc on Thursday, then we have the opticians and then he needs to be up at school for half 8 on Friday morning ready for his expedition - poor sod is then back to school on Monday. ds2 has his presentation for his DofE on Friday after school.

Groovee · 31/05/2016 18:13

Good luck to your Ds prettybird.

Dd is on work experience still. She's working tonight at her hotel job. She goes to London on the dance trip on Monday.

weegiemum · 31/05/2016 18:18

good luck to ds, prettybird

Dd1 said art was "good". She's come on her period early so feeling a bit rubbish. she was pretty confident of an A after the practical part.

Ghaidlig tomorrow!

Dd1 really needs to get up, her Ghaidlig exam is in 3 hours!!

No sign of ds Wink Don't expect to see him until early afternoon when he has to get ready for a Glasgow Schools rugby tournament Smile

OneMagnumisneverenough · 01/06/2016 10:07

I hope she does well weegie not sure if anyone else on the thread has anyone left doing exams - I've lost the plot :)

I've left DS sleeping today, it will be his only sleep in of the whole time. I'll get him up early again tomorrow since he needs to be at school fully packed and raring to go at 8.30 on Friday morning so a sleep in tomorrow wouldn't be a good idea.

rogueantimatter · 01/06/2016 11:08

Good luck with the rugby prettybird

onemagnum - DS does music 9-4.30 on Saturdays. Although it's a pain driving him there at 8.25am I'm so grateful for a time to get up being imposed on him one day a week during study leave. The DofE will be great - he'll come home smelly, covered in midgie bites and with blisters/aching muscles then look back on it fondly. You have my utmost sympathy with the hassle of getting ready to go though. So much 'necessary' equipment.

weegiemum · 01/06/2016 11:18

dd1 is flying about and talking to herself in Gaelic so I'm assuming she's ready for it.

her organisational skills have not improved with study leave!

rougue Ds1 has been up and in the shower before half 8 every other morning during study leave, he gets up at the same time or earlier every weekend too.

Unfortunately we are well versed in packing rucksacks, dealing with smelly clothes and boys as mine are Scouts. DS2 completed his Bronze two weeks ago, DS1 was away sailing/camping last weekend and they are both away camping the weekend after this.

This will be the first time that DS1 has had to rely on getting his drinking water from rivers etc as they will not be able to carry enough for 3 days drinking and cooking especially as it looks like it's going to be hot. I've just bought him one of those self filtering water bottles so he should be able to just fill it up in the river and drink straight from it. Food is more or less sorted I think but again with it being hot that's not helping with fussypants' menu. He'll also need to manage his antibiotics and skin cream etc while having no actual washing facilities.

He'll come back and say it was "alright", have a shower and go back on his PC I suspect :)

Groovee · 01/06/2016 14:41

Hope Gaelic went well Weegie.

Dd has been referred for physio for her knee. Not so great when she has to take higher dance as the other higher option in that column are nothing that she wants.

weegiemum · 01/06/2016 17:29

Ghaidlig was "great" according to dd1, who is spending the evening with her best friend before D&M in the morning!

THIS TIME TOMORROW it will be over!

weegie you've had the longest to hang on - well done and good luck for tomorrow.

rogueantimatter · 01/06/2016 20:03

Your DS is a star Magnum Smile I hope they get good weather for the expedition. (Here in Glasgowshire my garden is actually needing rain! Hope we get good weather in the hols.

Kr1stina · 01/06/2016 20:27

That's good news about Gaelic . Good luck for tomorrow

OneMagnumisneverenough · 01/06/2016 21:10

Thanks rogue I think the forecast is probably too good - they could do with bright and cloudy and dry :)

Lidlfix · 01/06/2016 21:23

I am the last to escape the misery? DD2 goes from Higher PE to S6 induction, conference or whatever they call it on Friday. Though she has disturbed her notes overly as she seems to think practical has sown it up. Hope she's not in for a nasty surprise. Bring on Friday 3.30!!

OneMagnumisneverenough · 01/06/2016 21:26

Yup Lidl think it's you, last one here switch the light out - and direct to the results thread which we've not started yet :)
