My dd1 is in s4 and about to sit 8 Nat5s. I don't know who is more wound up about it - her or me! (and I'm a teacher!!).

Wondered if there's anyone else out there to hold hands with?

DD is sitting English, Maths, Ghaidlig (Gaelic native speaker), French, History, Art & Design, Physics and Design & Manufacture. First is English on 5th May.

OneMagnum, shame about DS's skin, I can empathise as I have recently developed Rosacea and have gone all red and spotty aged 48 😟.

Ds 2 has just retired from under 18's rugby, worst injury - broken pinky ! Whereas Ds2 broke his elbow cycling and has had eight operations on it so far. Glad DS1 never got concussed, he can't spare the brain cells!

Groovee · 25/05/2016 15:47

Dd said drama was fine! That's her finished.

unlucky83 · 25/05/2016 17:30

DD1 also finished and said Drama was 'ok I suppose' as usual.
They have to make up play or something - improvise in the exam - she had said before you aren't supposed to prepare but you could go in with a few ideas and change/tweak it to match the requirement. So I asked her what story she had made up and she said 'I can't remember' Hmm
Anyway just glad it is over ...until next year at least. I'm thinking she will still go into school next week - to mess around - I hope so cos I can't bear her hanging around the house every day -which she will do otherwise.
Good Luck to everyone who still has exams to go ...

Groovee · 25/05/2016 20:26

Dd is in school next Thursday for s5 induction. But work experience the rest of the week.

prettybird · 25/05/2016 20:40

I think ds' work experience is w/c 13 June. Really should check Blush

YoScience · 25/05/2016 22:22

Well done to those finished! Relief! Grin

Dd's school doesn't do work experience for the nat 5 pupils, only the nat 4s which I find a bit odd!?

Into S5 next Wednesday, same uniform, but for S6 there is a slightly different one. Not sure she is overly pleased with her higher choices as she wants to crash modern studies but isn't allowed. So looking like English, history, geography, music and either Italian or graphics! Unless she has to do Nat 5 maths again, which is a real possibility!!

Off to the hospital with DD tomorrow for a neurology appointment following her brain scan. So relieved she got through the exams without missing any!

Good luck for those with exams in the next few days!!

Groovee · 25/05/2016 22:58

All S4's do work experience in December. Those doing Nat4's get the choice to find a work placement for exam leave or go into school. Dd decided getting more primary experience was beneficial for her uni application. Would like her to try another school sometime.

Kr1stina · 26/05/2016 02:48

Hope the brain scan goes ok ( yikes, sounds scary ) .

And good luck to those still sitting exams .

We are finished exams and DD is doing some work experience before starting 6th year on Tuesday and not a moment too soon

Uniform - nothing new here , just ties for prefects and various captains

Went to a school parents meeting about UCAS / apprenticeships etc . Was a bit concerned to see that the presentation contained wrong information about the entry requirements for at least one course . So be sure to check anything the school tell you with the university / college website .

Dd1 is revising for Art today, so its pretty quiet here. Its been nice having her around during the exams (I'm only out very part time).

She needs a senior tie - 5th and 6th years do at her school. Blazers are optional and she's never wanted one. School shirts/trousers are a real problem with ds who is just starting S3 - he's 6 feet tall, has size 11-12 feet, and needs adult shirts for the arm length but he's still a small neck size. M&S do 3 packs of shirts with 2" longer than normal cuffs, but they cost £30!!!!! he's been getting away with black jeans mostly for school.

Congrats to all those who are finished, hope the scan went well Yo and good luck to those that remain. DS studying for Computing tomorrow and then he is away all weekend so it will be a quick study on Monday for Art next week.

Might go look at those shirts weegie but not relishing the prospect of 3 packs and still being one short... I'll need to shop around I think.

prettybird · 26/05/2016 14:36

Gosh Weegie - can't believe your ds is so tall nor that he's going into S3 Shock I can remember when he was a wee P3/P4 Grin He'd tower over my ds now Shock

Quiet here too. Computing Science tomorrow and then we're he's all done. Planning on a treat of Sarti's pizzas tomorrow night.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 26/05/2016 14:38

Poor DS is camping/DofE expeditioning for the next 3 weekends - his body will wonder what to do with the daylight and fresh air.

prettybird · 26/05/2016 14:44

Good news for some is that the U17 trials on Monday gave been moved to 5-7pm. (U18 trials will be 3-5pm - bad luck on any S5 or S6 who's doing Nat 5 Modern Studies - but hopefully none are in this category).

Bad news is that 8 scrum halfs have been put forward and they'll only want 2. Ds will just have to do his best and hope that he has a decent stand-off and pack to work with in the "trial" games. He may just have 15 minutes to prove his worth.

weegiemum · 27/05/2016 09:12

Good luck for the computing students today!

Thanks Weegie. Ds is up and showered. He says he got bored studying for it - I hope he's not got complacent. He got 46/50 for the practical (40% of the final exam) so he doesn't have to do much to get a pass. He's predicting a B.

wigglybeezer · 27/05/2016 09:58

DS is up and already in his school uniform, making him a black pudding roll to keep his strength up!
had to help him with his prefect application this morning as the deadline is today, he is really uncomfortable talking about himself and bigging himself up but he need to practice this for job applications etc. so I made him do it!
He is fairly confident about the exam today, hopefully not misplaced as he has chosen it for higher and needs a good mark.
Good luck everyone else..

OneMagnumisneverenough · 27/05/2016 10:12

DS is up, had breakfast and is in the shower and counting down until he can have lunch (hollow legs). He tells me he did some past papers yesterday but I'm not sure if he has or hasn't. Oh well.

Good luck everyone.

hidingwithwine · 27/05/2016 11:28

Good luck today folks. DS is up, has cleaned his room procastination and will start studying "after 12"

He's currently yapping to his mates on the Xbox. They've all finished their exams of course Hmm

Groovee · 27/05/2016 12:12

Good luck everyone X

prettybird · 27/05/2016 15:07

That's ds in: all finished. Smile

He says the exam went ok, as much as Computing Science would go, for him.

He says the whole class became disillusioned after the prelim when they all got the answer wrong to "What piece of equipment do you use to present to a large number of people" (or something like that). They answered "Projector" and the answer was "Data Projector" Hmm

hidingwithwine · 27/05/2016 15:11

DS is stressing over his Mods higher on Monday. He's just told me he's off to google how to break your leg, so he can miss the exam and get an A based on his prelim. And I thought DD was the drama queen 🙈.

It's been his best subject all flaming year, FFS!!

Groovee · 29/05/2016 00:05

I've agreed to host a BBQ for dd's group of friends from school on Friday as an end of Exam party. Just a shame Dd has to work at 7am the next day!

My niece is grumpy about it because she's not invited. I pointed out she goes on her school trip that day before the ditziness clicked why she couldn'5 come.

Kr1stina · 29/05/2016 13:47

You are such a nice mum grooveee

Groovee · 29/05/2016 15:27

MM. I can be Kr1stina. We're very fortunate to have a huge garden so hoping it's a cracking night!

prettybird · 29/05/2016 15:44

Dh tells me that the good weather is due to break on Friday. I hope the weather forecast is wrong for you and your dd's sake Grovee. - and mine as I'm planning on going to Gardening Scotland that day Hmm
