How old are your boys Ginny?? I could bring DD1 if we could make it and leave the little one with sis - she would love that??

Tannee - so very hard, I think you know what you want to do/whay you need to do, but its very hard!
I dont think you can "help" DP, he has to want that, but is it worth risking your relationship with DD for

ginnny · 17/11/2009 10:30

It is isn't it TFM. Its helped me loads!
DS1 is nearly 10 and DS2 is 6. I took DS1 to the first meetup we had in London and he really enjoyed it, although he didn't speak for the entire day - he's so shy!!
Tannee - hope you are OK this morning x

HappyWoman · 17/11/2009 10:48

my dd would love to meet up - she is a young 13 - I think she just wants to be nosey and cant believe her mum actually has any friends .

Tanee58 · 17/11/2009 14:45

We could certainly take the children to the pizza place, and they do nice ice cream - but we'd need to book if we go on a Saturday. Any dates suit you?

Still haven't spoken to DP - it's so hard to bring myself to it, and he was being so nice last night - made us dinner and even washed up - which is RARE! It's as if he senses something's building, and is trying to deflect it by being more like the person he used to be.

Ginnny, that is a fantastic piece on detachment. I have printed it off to read at leisure. I can see many points with which I identify. It does sadden me but if detaching myself forces DP to take responsibility for getting himself better, that would be so marvellous - and may even bring us closer again. We used to be able to talk about just everything - and now there's this huge elephant in the room, and the most important thing in our lives, that isn't referred to, and yes, it is destroying us even while we're nice to each other. I have to remember that an 'elephant' killed my marriage - and I don't want that to happen again.

HappyWoman · 17/11/2009 14:50

I work fridays so it would be a push to get there but i could do it. Saturdays are not so good as we have too many birthdays in Dec.
I am fairly certain that i will up on the night of mon 21st Dec and all day on the Tues - will have dc and i know it will be a complete nightmare being so close to xmas - but just a thought.

Tanee58 · 17/11/2009 16:20

Any other takers for Monday 21 Dec? Otherwise, a Friday or Saturday and we'll try to meet up with HW in the new year?

ginnny · 17/11/2009 16:32

Its ds1's birthday on the 21st but it is also my day off. I'm wondering if I could turn it into a bit of a birthday treat for him too. He will have had his party on the saturday and the family do on the sunday so it might be a nice way to finish off his birthday.

Tanee58 · 17/11/2009 16:54

Good. Any other takers for Monday 21? Dior? My spare room is free, remember, for anyone with/without a dc. We'd get pizzas for a fiver! McD - I don't suppose you could make it, as you work Mondays ? If not, we'll just have to do it again on a Saturday next year to get you in - and we MUST get TFM down sometime!!!

TimeForMe · 17/11/2009 17:21

Diormissesyouall · 17/11/2009 18:21

I could prob do 21st Dec, although I would leave ds at home with h. The offer of a room would be nice thanks Tanee x

Sorry to read all your troubles Tanee

Anniegetyourgun · 17/11/2009 18:45

I could do 21st, I'm sure. May bring DS4 (12). Haven't met any of you before so maybe you could have a notice at the table: "Teabags' Tea", or something less naff

HappyWoman · 17/11/2009 19:01

I will only be able to do the evening of the 21st - and thats not certain yet - 22nd would be best for me - sorry.

But if you do the 21st will do my best - promise.

macdoodle · 17/11/2009 19:34

Ah sorry all am working 21st and 22nd - very busy week for us and we will be closed Friday
But no worries will have to plan a meet up early next year, if I have a bit of notice, I can book a day off or 2 Maybe half term??

Lilyloo · 17/11/2009 22:39

Ladies can i ask you all a favour if anyone sees a go go hamster around please will you get it for me and i will pay you postage for it.
DD has now asked for one , typically i saw them in Tesco couple weeks ago.
Now they are virtually impossible to get hold off.
Thanks

ladylush · 17/11/2009 22:40

I can do 21st and would bring both dc if that's ok If you decide to meet in the evening let me know and I will see if I can make it.

ladylush · 17/11/2009 22:41

Tanee - very sorry to hear how sad you are. I totally agree with TFM - her advice as ever is very sound.

ladylush · 17/11/2009 22:43

I particularly agree with her point about your dd. DP is on self-destruct and dragging all along for the ride. You are right - he needs to hit rock bottom for a wake up call. You can't protect him from himself.

ginnny · 17/11/2009 22:55

Lily - I'll keep an eye out for you. There's always something that's suddenly hard to get hold of at Christmas isn't there.
I might bring the dc up on the 21st anyway for a birthday treat so if anyone is going to be around let me know and we could maybe have a coffee or lunch during the day.

TimeForMe · 18/11/2009 11:22

Lily have you tried Amazon? [http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_0_3?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=go+go+hamsters&sprefi x=go+]] are these what you mean?

Hi everybody It's lovely to have us all back together again.

TimeForMe · 18/11/2009 11:23

Oops www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_0_3?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=go+go+hamsters&sprefix=go+ hope this works!

Lilyloo · 18/11/2009 11:26

Thanks TFM but the rrp for the hamsters is £9.99 so they are really overpriced there , the only place that has any stock
or rip off ebay too!

ginnny · 18/11/2009 11:31

Lily toys r us sell them.
I'm going to ours on Sunday so I'll have a look there for you .

ginnny · 18/11/2009 11:32

Oh - just seen they are out of stock there too.
How annoying!

Lilyloo · 18/11/2009 11:43

Maybe they might get some more in
Hopeful emotion , thanks Ginny

TimeForMe · 18/11/2009 12:04

Good gracious! I see what you mean. The sellers on Amazon are really taking advantage of the 'out of stock' status of other stores. I've just checked around here and they are out of stock I'm afraid, you might have to buy a real one instead, might be cheaper!
