Partner doesn’t believe I was raped

I’m in a state of disbelief so forgive any mistakes please. I need to know how to understand what has just happened or gain any insight into any of my own wrongdoing.

Partner was cross at me this morning because we made plans which I still wanted to go ahead with but he’s a bit hungover and reluctant. That’s the context. We were bickering.
The subject came up that I needed him to come with me to the shops (as planned yesterday), hinting that I’m some kind of dependent on him (I’m not). This descended into nastiness related to me being a sponge (I’m not). I made the point that if I were a goldigger or a sponge, I would’ve set my sights on a rich man. He then said I couldn’t do any better than him and why don’t I try (insert Rapist’s name here), which absolutely floored me. Why bring it up? It didn’t make sense in the context of the argument as he is unemployed.
I asked why my partner had brought up such a subject and he said ‘we both know it never happened anyway’. I’m sick to my stomach. I was then told that I loved every minute, that if it were true I’d have gone to the police and that if I wanted to I could’ve stopped it and shouldn’t have been at the rapist’s house in the first place. I said everything he just told me is the reason I didn’t want to go to the police.
I told him I would have no reason to have ever made this up and confided it was anal rape. I’ve been with my partner for 10 years and he knows I’m not into it. I thought he would think twice, but he doubled down and said that back in the day, his friend had told everyone in the pub that I’d had anal sex with him and that he was going round high fiving everyone about it. I didn’t even know this! And it’s not even true.
Why is my partner doing this? he has never forgiven me for having a short relationship with a friend of his, prior to meeting him. Tells me I’m a slag because of it. He called me a slag in the above exchange about the rape, as a reason for not believing me. I asked him how he could be with someone who he thinks would lie about something like this and he said he doesn’t know and is ‘rethinking everything’. I walked out of the coffee shop in disgust and am now dreading him coming home. What the fuck am I meant to do with all this information he’s given me about myself? I didn’t realise he was sitting on all these horrible thoughts.

You said earlier he doesn't understand, it's not they don't understand, it's that they don't agree. Please do not discuss the situation with him at all, it will give him more chance to bully you and won't help.

All the best, it won't take long until you wonder why you've put up with him as long as you have.

I have NEVER read a clearer LEAVE THE BASTARD on this site!!

Pack his shit ad put him out TODAY.

What he said was 100% unforgiveable.

The utter, UTTER cunt doesn't deserve one more solitary second of your time.

His mum has met him for a coffee. I’ve told him to speak to her about moving in with her as I could never move past this. He said I’m making it into a big deal and he’ll be home I soon. He doesn’t care at all

What he thinks, wants or does not want no longer matters to you. Don't engage with him anymore.

Maybe he raped someone himself, some men who are rapists like to side with them. At best he's a rapist apologist. What he said is, actually, completely and totally unforgiveable.

I'm very sorry for what was done to you, and that someone you thought you knew has now betrayed you so badly.

Can you get the locks changed?

There is no way back from what he said. You will never feel safe with him or respected by him again.

You need to kick him out. He will try to minimise what he said, and gaslight you into thinking that it wasn't a big deal.

It is a massive deal though. He weaponised your deeply traumatic experience in order to attack you.

Please get him out of your life. And your daughter's too, if you can. He is clearly a raging misogynist and you both deserve better.

I don’t know how I’d carry on with this relationship either but I’m in a state of shock right now. It seems like he actually hates me and wants to hurt me as much as possible but I don’t know why

It doesn't matter why, he's just a nasty piece of work, dump him. you could surely never have sex with him again after that. You can do much better. The thought that he doesn't believe you about such a traumatic episode and trots out the old rot that you enjoyed it makes him absolutely dispicable.

Petrie999 · Yesterday 14:23

If he manages to convince you that this isnt what he thinks, that he said it in anger because he has a wounded ego, don't listen. Even if that were true, it is disgusting that he could weaponise these things to intentionally hurt you, and it shows him up for who he is. I cannot comprehend how he thinks it is not a big deal, perhaps hes just trying to avoid consequence. I could never even look at a person who said those things to me nevermind forgive/move on

Shoxfordian · Yesterday 14:23

Don't take him back, he clearly has no compassion or respect or love for you at all

Eviebeans · Yesterday 14:25

Please leave- there’s nothing to work on here

Fernticket · Yesterday 14:26

Oh OP, please LTB. He is an utter, weapons grade, POS.
You deserve SO much better than this.

malefields · Yesterday 14:27

My DP comes out with some seriously dumb things every now and then but this would have been break up worthy, right there and then.

CaptainMyCaptain · Yesterday 14:27

itsadlibitum · Yesterday 12:44

errr leave OP. I could never consider continuing a relationship with someone who thought or said these things about me.

I agree 100%. There's nothing else to say.

BibbityBobbityBuggerit · Yesterday 14:27

That was an instantly dumpable offence. No ifs, no buts. He needs to be gone now. This is what he really thinks of you and he was so cocksure of himself and that you wouldn't get rid of him that he actually told you to your face. There's really no coming back from this whatsoever. I appreciate you have a child together so there will be complications but he needs himself and his utterly repellent attitude gone from your home now.

If your relationship was a job and he had said the workplace equivalent it would be an instantly sackable offence for gross misconduct. He'd be escorted to his desk, told to get his stuff and then escorted from the building. What he's just said to you is that level of seriousness.

Gobbledegoo · Yesterday 14:30

He is a vile guttersnipe. Kick him to the gutter of shit where he belongs.

You are far far better than him. Black rubbish bags of his on the doorstep on his return. Never ever let him have entrance to your door again. Do not sully your mouth with discussing anything else ever directly. All arrangements over text regarding your DD or through your solicitor.

Scout2016 · Yesterday 14:30

It's your house and he's not welcome anymore. Keep it as simple as that. He knows why.

You don't have anything to discuss about this aspect, picking at old wounds will only hurt you and he is worth you sharing any more deeply personal information with.

OP it’s hard but please don’t let this man back into your life - he said all this stuff to you either because he believe it (vile) or he’s trying to hurt you as deeply as possible because he can’t be arsed to go to the shop when he’s hungover (on a Thursday…) and do what he planned (equally vile).

The little bit of background about him never letting up about a previous partner and how he clearly feels you’ll just permit him to treat you this poorly and he can swan back in whenever he’s ready just goes to show what a controlling, arrogant arsehole he is.

Please put your big girl pants on and wipe the smile off his smug face by never letting him near you again

theemmadilemma · Yesterday 14:31

Please don't back down. Stay firm on it being over.

What an absolute cunt. There's really no coming back from that. There really, really, shouldn't be.

Rosepinks · Yesterday 14:32

Please contact Women's aid for support.
Gather his stuff together.
Never allow him into your home again.
Locks changed.
Call 101 and seek support.

He is a whole new level of vile.
He sounds positively evil and that he really really hates you.
Therefore he is dangerous.

I would never be alone with him again.
How awful that you share a child with this vile scum.

Comeondoreen · Yesterday 14:33

it may sound like an odd thing to pick up on but… this argument happened in a coffee shop? In a public place?! Have I understood this correctly? This alarms me because I think most men who are vile enough to say such things would at least have the shame to only say it in a private place. The fact he’s willing to say it in public makes me wonder if he’s a little unhinged… is he? Genuine question??

That aside, yes an unforgivably disgusting and cruel thing to say. You will surely never be able to move past this, and you shouldn’t want to. Get rid asap. I’m just so very sorry that you share a child as this makes life more difficult. I do normally empathise/understand why women stay when a child is involved, but what he has said to you makes that option untenable.

goodnightssleepbenice · Yesterday 14:35

Do not even try to understand this vile behaviour, leave him immediately he is a horrible horrible man

AllTheToddlers · Yesterday 14:35

So sorry you were raped. it wil hurt just as much again for the person you love and trust to say those horrific things to you.
Od course there is no living past this and asking him to leave is the right thing to do. If he doesn’t leave and has no rights to your house then a make family member or friend to move his stuff into bags and on the front step or police if he kicks off

TicTac80 · Yesterday 14:36

My god, he's vile. I'm so glad that the house is yours (and that you're not married to him).

In your shoes? I'd make plans to get him slung out ASAP: call the police to let them know that you'll be throwing him out (in case he turns nasty - well, more nasty than he already is). And get some support from trusted friends/family of yours to get his stuff out. And don't let any of what he said be your shame - none of it is. None of this is your fault or your doing. He's the one with the massive disgusting problems and thoughts. End the relationship OP, and the hell with what anyone thinks. You deserve better than this nasty bastard.

HellonHeels · Yesterday 14:36

I believe you and I am so very sorry for what has happened to you. It was not your fault. Rape is the fault of rapists.

Your (now EX I hope) partner is a POS and an abuser. I hope you can gather the strength to get him out of your house and keep him out. Do you have family or good friends who can help you and support you?

Playinwithfire · Yesterday 14:37

Why are you trying to prove yourself to this thing you call a partner? You need to leave... He ain't worth shit!!

Op, please get rid of him. How would you feel if your daughter told you her partner had treated her like this? He needs to be your ex now. It really doesn’t matter who likes him or not, they don’t have to live with him and tolerate this abuse, you do.

AcrossthePond55 · Yesterday 14:39

@amigoingmadd

This is not 'leave at your leisure' bad. This is 'GTFO RIGHT NOW!!!' bad.

If this was me I wouldn't give a shit if he had a place to go or not. I wouldn't care if he moved into a mansion or slept on a park bench, I would just want him gone, now. So fuck if he can move in with his mum. He needs to leave.

So, my question for you is, are you afraid of him? Is there a reason why you don't just throw him out? Don't say it's because you have a child together, in this case that's no reason to be 'kind'.

I'm 8 hours later than you, so he may already have come back. But if not I agree with packing his shit (or at least a bag) and leaving it on the porch with a note. Then leave your key in the lock. It's your house and you aren't married (thank God). You can make arrangements for him to get the rest of his shit later.

Do NOT blame yourself for this man's attitude. He's a pig. (with apologies to real pigs)
