H ‘gone fishing’

Muggymcmug · 19/11/2025 18:32

H disappeared first thing this morning muttering something about going fishing. By the afternoon I tried to call then sent a message to remind him of something we had on in a couple of hours. Eventually responded to say that he was going to be night fishing & would be back in the morning. In this weather.

On a scale of 1-absolute bullshit, he’s a massive liar isn’t he?! There has been infidelity which he would swear is over.

Good luck with the viewing OP. Might be worth ringing around all the letting agents. Definitely get copies of everything you need. It sounds like it’s time to go unless you want to live like this (presumably he’s be happy to carry on having his cake and eating it)

We have never even thought of tracking each other, I'd find it very weird of he asked as well. If we are out, we give an idea of home time or just arrive whenever. If one of us is worried, we ring or text and the other replies. Even when he goes away I'd get an evening video call for the kids and probably nothing else, I don't need anything else either.

@Muggymcmug hope you're doing okay, it's one type of feelings for you but when kids are involved that's when it's especially cruel the way he's going on.

This sounds like exactly the same argument to not have some level of shared finances which I do believe most married women are against.

you do you. But it’s a clear truth thing. As the OP is finding out sadly.

Lennonjingles · 21/11/2025 07:10

You will know if he really went fishing, as it will take him all day to warm up, if he comes in and he’s not blue, then he’s definitely not been outside for 2 days.

I was being terribly sarcastic. If you have things to hide I totally understand why you wouldn’t want the 2-4 people nearest to you to know where you are.

Oh I know you were being sarcastic! Hey, if you and your 2-4 people need to see where you are on a live map, instead of just taking each others word for it, because you know ‘trust’, then I guess I’m happy with my far more trustworthy set up!

Not really. But also yes. Had a nice evening with the dcs. Currently watching shite on tv to try to turn my brain off. Think it will be a while before I manage sleep!

I hope you managed to get some sleep, OP. This is all very unfair, I really feel for you. Sending hugs x

My dad was a national champion angler, absolutely obsessed with it and fished in much of his spare time all my life. He never did 24 hour stints!

And doing all day and then the night in this weather is really not credible.

That’s odd in itself.

My brother has written articles for fishing magazines, so pretty good himself, and often away for four days at a time until he runs out of food.

Please do leave him. As quickly as humanly possible. Good luck.

We use life360, we have a whole circle of all of my immediate family, My mum, her husband, my DH, SIL, DB, Dsis, plus our pets 🤣 We can all see where we all are all of the time and we love it 😂 no hiding in this family!

my mum especially loves it because she worries about us while we’re out or driving, she even pays for crash detection on it so she’ll receive a notification or something if any of us have an accident.

I mean yeah? Right? Me, partner, all three kids, my mum. Little map. Get notifications when people arrive home if we want so we don’t worry anyone been kidnapped. Or skipped school. Or got stuck in traffic whatever.

DeQuin · 21/11/2025 07:28

Thinking of you and sending strength for today. x

I also like knowing how far DH is away from getting home so that I can start dinner (how tradwife of me?!)

people who don’t like location sharing with their family (maybe with the exception of Christmas shopping?)!are a bit weird 🤣

Pack his bags and put them outside the front door.

Sound advice.

Even if husband does turn up today and it really was just a fishing trip, it would still be an unacceptable way to treat your spouse and children.

OP, I hope you can get away from the person you are married to. You and your children deserve so much better.

What an idiot. You sound very sensible though and sure you'll come out stronger (eventually).

On trying to get to sleep without thinking, I find audio books really helpful. You can usually get a free trial of audible. I put them on a sleep timer and it blocks out other mental noise very effectively.

Muggymcmug · 19/11/2025 19:04

Quite honestly I’m not sure. He left while I was coming back from the nursery run & l’m not sure whether anything is missing from the garage. What he definitely didn’t take is his wellies or any boots…fishing in white trainers in November anyone?!

That is so weak that it almost sounds like he wants you to know he's lying OP.

Words · 21/11/2025 08:51

Sending strength OP.

ApolloandDaphne · 21/11/2025 09:07

He really isn't bothered about you or the kids is he? I hope you are okay.

Agree completely. He can go back where he was until you’re packed yourself and have somewhere to go away from him.

LoudSnoringDog · 21/11/2025 09:43

Has this selfish prick turned up yet?

Dweetfidilove · 21/11/2025 10:19

I'm sorry you're going through this, @Muggymcmug 💐.

secretrocker · 21/11/2025 10:25

Interested to see what he says for himself when he does turn up.

MyKindHiker · 21/11/2025 10:27

Hope you’re ok. It will be so much better when you are free from him. You have your lovely kids x

JFDIYOLO · 21/11/2025 10:39

Great idea to start looking at rentals - getting your mindset into 'I COULD do this'.

A thought - are you absolutely certain he is on annual leave? Men have been known to lose their jobs and hide it then go into a breakdown.

Have you any concerns re his behaviour otherwise?

Perfect28 · 21/11/2025 10:45

Grim. Why are you still together?

Whatsappweirdo · 21/11/2025 10:49
