Underwear not mine

PeppyBlueFinches · 06/08/2024 16:22

I am looking for some advice about what to do now please, as something doesn't make any sense. About a month ago I found a pair of knickers that weren't my size. I had managed to wash and dry them without noticing, it was only when I went to put them in the drawer that I noticed they weren't mine. Not my size. At the time I assumed that they had been my son's girlfriend's and that they had been somehow mixed up with his stuff. My son and his girlfriend had recently returned from a holiday so it seemed likely that is what had happened. I mentioned to DH that I had found a pair of knickers which I assume were her's.

I was waiting to see my son's girlfriend to ask her if they were her's. In the meantime, I had put them in my underwear drawer. She hasn't been round since then although I have seen her away from the house but I forgot to ask her if she had lost some underwear.

This weekend, I went away without DH. Putting away the washing today I notice that those knickers are nowhere to be seen in my underwear drawer.

There is categorically zero chance of my son going into my underwear drawer. I hadn't even told him about the knickers. The only other person who could have taken them is DH but then wouldn't that be a stupid thing to do as I had told him that I had seen them? What do I do now?

It's not hard for a pair of knickers to get swallowed up by other laundry.

MtClair · 06/08/2024 20:15

My point is, because he knows that I had seen them, wouldn't it be foolish to then get rid of them?

No knickers means you can’t confirm they weren’t your ds’s gf.
In which case, you’d be wanting to investigate more wouldn’t you?

Someone thought it was safer to get rid of them.

MtClair · 06/08/2024 20:16

Sunshineafterthehail · 06/08/2024 17:59

Would they fit dh or the gf?

I think that’s a good question.

Do you remember what size they were @PeppyBlueFinches ?

GF hasn't been round since I found them. She would ask me anyway, if she asked DS there's no way he would go into my drawer.
When I said something like, 'I've found a pair of knickers that aren't mine, they must be (DS girlfriend's)' I don't think he actually said anything. I can't remember what his reaction was. I said it in passing because I had assumed they would belong to her.
My point is, because he knows that I had seen them, wouldn't it be foolish to then get rid of them?

Nah, I once watched my ex smash something up with a hammer then he immediately claimed he hadn't. It was literally still on the floor smashed up, but it had fell apparently. He also consistently lies, then tells a completely contradictory lie immediately after. "I've never spoken to that person.... me and that person have been friends for years I see him every week." It drives him mad that I see straight through it now becuase for 10 years I just accepted his word as gospel.

Re the knickers. Obviously DH took them. So he knows what they look like. So they're either his or his girlfriends. Are they his size?

NigelHarmansNewWife · 06/08/2024 20:22

Maybe they belong to someone DS has been seeing behind his gf's back.

amyboo · 06/08/2024 20:23

Is there any chance they could come from a multipack (of yours) and had the wrong size label in them? Happened to me once with a pck of 5 pairs of bikini knickers from M&S....

JJathome · 06/08/2024 20:35

I don’t really understand how this is a repeated themes on here. Who goes home without their knickers on, I mean cmon.

Ihopeithinkiknow · 06/08/2024 20:43

I found some knickers once and that's when I found out my now ex husband had been stealing my friends underwear out of her laundry basket in her bathroom to wank over.

I rent out a photo studio and knickers get left all the time.

letsjustdothis · 06/08/2024 20:59

To me the weird thing is that you put them in your own underwear drawer. When people have left their underwear at mine I put them in the utility room or airing cupboard, it would never cross my mind to put them in my own drawer. Too easy to get mixed up or lost or forgotten, might seem a little odd/fetishy to the actual owner, etc.

I was walking in the woods a few months back and there was a single abandoned running shoe, that didn't look like it had fallen apart. One logical explanation is that it fell off a body that was being dragged to be buried in a pit somewhere, but I suspect that — as in the OP's case here — the truth may be a little bit more mundane than the worst-case scenario.

That’s the weirdest thing, it’s all weird. Not asking your husband, finding someone else’s knickers in your wash basket. Thinking someone was in your house, shagged yer husband and then left forgetting to put their knickers on, not askin your husband, and yeah, putting them in your underwear drawer.

its all batshit.😂

How's your marriage, any suspicions he's having a woman round, is he the type to gaslight you.

She’s hardly likely to forget to put her knickers back on is she?

Choochoo21 · 06/08/2024 21:20

There’s only 2 possible answers surely..

Either it’s an OW and your DH has got rid of them (no evidence, no case).

Or your DH thinks they’re his son’s GFs and he’s kept them for himself.

Yes but someone coming for a photo shoot would be likely to bring extra pairs. An illicit lover would not.

socks1107 · 06/08/2024 21:26

I had a family member visiting our house and leaving her mums knickers in my washing in an attempt to accuse my dh of an affair...

Cinai · 06/08/2024 21:26

I think the OW theory has 2 issues:

  1. the OW surely wouldn’t have gone without knickers. It’s not something like an earring that’s easily forgotten.
  2. DH would be a right idiot to make them disappear after you’ve already told him you’ve seen them.

Any chance you’ve picked them up at a gym or similar by mistake? I’ve done so before.

5475878237NC · 06/08/2024 21:37

The AMA I had an affair threads repeatedly have women post to say OW left something accidentally on purpose to force a cheating husband's hand in the car or home.

Your son would never feel the need to go hunting for his girlfriend's knickers. No self respecting girlfriend would want their potential mil hunting for or being asked about underwear so she'd have asked your son to look for them then said just leave it if he'd suggested anything else.

Your husband went looking for them.

This sounds like there could be a reasonable explanation. First thought was like a pp said, your ds gf asked him to retrieve them from the drawer...maybe they were embarrassed to ask you

That’s what I think.

How you could categorically know DS wouldn’t do so if his gf asked and said “don’t ask your mum; I’m so embarrassed.!” Teenagers are like that.

Also why not just ask DH? How did he react when you said you found them?

Perhaps the husband's cock is so amazing it can render women a bit senseless.

I'll wait for the op to confirm.

SoreAndTired1 · 06/08/2024 21:43

It doesn't look good OP, sorry. If your son wouldn't go to your underwear drawer, your husband has. Or a woman that was over again when you were away went there to look after mentioning to your husband she left them there, husband recalled you mentioning underwear to him and she went looking. It really doesn't look good. I'd get your son and your husband together and ask both outright, and watch their reactions. Flowers

Calliopespa · 06/08/2024 21:43

Also you said not your size. But were they more DH’s size ? Or DS’s girlfriend’s size? Or someone else?

All these details would help give sensible advice.
