Giving up on men

I think I'm giving up on relationships/dating. After seeing someone recently who just turned out to be just like all the rest of them I've figured a lot of men, especially now, really aren't worth it. Especially when you get to my age which is early 50s. Or you're forced to look at men who are late 50s/60s, no thanks.

The living in Sweden man had moved back to his mum’s house but his dad had died the year before and he was in the process of buying a property here after selling his Swedish property. I do think a few men after divorce often the woman gets the house (despite what MN would have you believe) especially if she’s housing school/college age children. So sometimes it’s cheaper for men to move back to parents houses.

@Sneezingdust I met a nice German guy once and was engaged to an Indian guy that I met in Hong Kong years ago. We had our differences but on the whole it was refreshing to be with somebody a little different and knew exactly what he wanted in life and even showed me his career path mapped out (he was a banker!).

Yeah I don't understand how people can think that's OK at all. It's disgusting, nobody wants to see that. You don't know the person you're messaging other than one or 2 lines on an OLD and a picture or 2 and then sending filth like that?

I have chosen not to put my effort into it. I did it for someone who is genuinely nice recently and even he messed me around. If even the nice ones can't figure out what they want and be respectful, there's no point.

I thought of that probably made up statistic that women over the age of whatever are more likely to be struck by lightning than get married. It's supposed to be a warning about their dire changes.but actually it's because the single men by then are the dregs and women by that age have realised they don't want or need them.

My recent ex is (was) a "nice guy". He was so nice that I was actually mildly concerned he was a bit dull (he was. But nice)
Turns out the reason he's so "nice" is that he has zero feelings. Zero emotion. Zero empathy. Zero understanding.
It's like he came off the robot production line and they forgot to put the personality chip into him.
I will not find another bloke as nice and calm as him. Problem is he's calm because he's dead behind the eyes.
So I've given up and literally cannot be arsed anymore.
Just started a new season of Below Deck and bought a packet of lemon and white chocolate hot cross buns so life isn't all bad.

A few years ago my friend wanted me to pair off with one of her boyfriend’s friends, we were stuck in a bar and a nice enough man, good looking was talking to me. After 20 mins of this I looked at him and said “you’re boring” and walked off, he trailed around following me all night trying to get me to change my mind. I didn’t want to die of boredom no matter how rich etc he was (he was rich, nice house, nice car, no dodgy ex).

Those hot cross buns and a new season of whatever piques your interest sounds good to me.
