Tick tock: the one where Geller discovers Polly is no longer a doormat

AKA Co-parenting: I do not think it means what you think it means

Here we go again my lovelies! Will this be the one where I finally get divorced?!

Previous thread here

I have clock news! Turns out, no one wants it. Quelle surprise. Could I sell it? No, sez I, it’s worth ha’penny tuppence on a good day. Plus, no time.

Ha ha.

I suggested, because I am a kind hearted soul and because it’s already in a box and I don’t know which one that they keep the clock face and I get rid of the mechanism and the case. That appears to be a reasonable compromise. Pass me an axe.

The reason for the clock conversation? My brother phoned. My mother has given away my grandfather’s WW1 medals to a museum. WTF?! We’re going to try and get them back. She can’t see what she’s done wrong.

Solicitors on the other side for the house purchase are useless. Estate agent spoke to them today. They are awaiting proof of ID and funds on account?! WTF. I lost my shit a bit. I’d just come back from having a filling so I sounded three gins down, which I’m sure added to the effect.

Oh, and I haven’t stopped laughing for the last hour. A friend has found Geller’s profile on a dating app. It contains such gems as ‘addressing climate change one word at a time in my career as a professional’ and goes on to claim he ‘always has time’

Given me the best laugh I’ve had since my solicitor said she’d call me just to be sure that I wanted to file for absolute once the finance order is made…

Anyway, buckle up loves. It’ll be a ride, as ever…glad you could join me.

Oh that’s so kind of you @NCgoingdry - I may well take you up on that

just hopping on to say DD2 has just been given the annual school award for her year - so SO proud of her - she works and tries so hard!

Geller’s response? Fantastic. I have been thinking in recent weeks that I could see either of them being the head girl in Y6. There’s a maturity there in school that’s been evident to me in the two events I went to.

erm…there IS no head girl / boy at school…

He's really got his finger on the button hasn't he?

So very well done to DD2! 🌹

RandomMess · 21/07/2022 14:13

😳🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Well done Dolly what an award!

Fraaahnces · 21/07/2022 15:17

He’s been reading Enid Blyton books again, hasn’t he?

pointythings · 21/07/2022 20:48

Of course you know full well that the Dollies' achievements are down to you, right?

Quick brag: attended DD1's graduation today. So proud - she got a 2.1, only a hair off a First (which only 1 person on her course got) and over the past 3 years she has overcome mental health issues and trauma and matured into a wonderful person.

Newestname002 · 21/07/2022 21:18

Congratulations on your DD1's achievements @pointythings. You've all come such a very long way. 🌹

comfortablyfrumpy · 21/07/2022 22:04

Massive congrats to your DD on the school award @StuckInPollyannaMode - that's brilliant, well done her! (And facilitated by your parenting, despite being hindered by Geller's ...).

Massive congrats to your daughter also @pointythings - and I bet you've been a wonderful support to her through it all.

@StuckInPollyannaMode love the Head of Year comment! Only Geller....

And I do think the suggestion earlier on is spot on - that all that huffing and puffing and parking fail malarky is to prompt you to avoid him having to drop them up or pick them off... Don't fall for it. He will just have to be less lazy and learn to drive. Properly. Maybe the Dollies could give him some driving school vouchers ( hill start/parking lessons) for his birthday? Grin

Mix56 · 21/07/2022 22:24

Both the girls have made giant steps since you split from their catastrophic father
Well done all 3👏👏

LadyDanburysHat · 22/07/2022 16:21

Great news on your DDs award. Your girls are a credit to you.

StuckInPollyannaMode · 22/07/2022 18:30

@pointythings so delighted for your DD, huge congratulations! You must be very proud, and deservedly so

@StuckInPollyannaMode I really am. We also recently found out that despite her massive struggle with physical ill health (which has landed her in a wheelchair) and PTSD (long term carryover from abusive dad), DD2 has passed first year Marine Biology. It just goes to show what young people can do when they have at least one good parent - the other one matters so much less. (Not a swipe at Geller, oh noooooooo).

AcrossthePond55 · 23/07/2022 20:51

I'd have told him to move his own damn car.

Either he did it to show it isn't 'reasonable' to expect him to do drops and picks because you moved to such an 'inconvenient place or he did it to prove to himself that he still has some measure of control over you.

I'd expect he'll use the former in any access paperwork to try and force you to do all transport.

HannahSternDefoe · 24/07/2022 06:07

He could always use a taxi or stop acting like a buffoon 🚕

Fraaahnces · 24/07/2022 08:44

Or tell him that the Landrover is too much for him to handle, and perhaps he needs to get something more practical for his skill set. Maybe a Mini with an autopark system.

Mix56 · 24/07/2022 09:01

What he will do is refuse to come to the address & insist you pick them up from a local lay by !!!
Telling you it's unacceptable, but not accepting he has a completely dickish giant car for a town dweller.
Nothing is ever his fault after all !
He will also be likely to blame dd1 for his lamentable parenting as she has an official "autism diagnosis"
This he will blazon around

Fraaahnces · 24/07/2022 11:36

Or he will tell the girls that “Mummy promised” them Mc Donald’s and make that the drop off point, leaving @StuckInPollyannaMode dealing with girls’ expectations and the bill.

Mix56 · 24/07/2022 13:36

Oh God, Yes totally plausible, thus saving having to cook, & filling them with repulsive industrial poison food, to make his life as simple as possible.
Obviously Polly will say "fine drop them home afterwards" & absolutely refuse to pick up ....

IncompleteSenten · 24/07/2022 19:10

If he tries that shit, attack his pride.

If he is not very good at hill starts perhaps he should have some extra lessons. You managed it perfectly well so clearly it can be done.
Maybe he just needs extra help. Or a smaller car, perhaps he really isn't cut out for whatever he's currently driving.

Yes... maybe suggest he has overhorsed himself, so to speak, and should try a smaller car.

Mix56 · 25/07/2022 08:55

Over horsed😂😂😂😂😂
Trade in his stallion & get a Dobbin !!

Oh, dear. Wesley could always park there without any problem. Perhaps you'd be better off with something more sensible, like a Fiat 500 or Suzuki Ignis? I hear they're really easy to park.

StuckInPollyannaMode · 26/07/2022 16:29

Talking of donkeys…I fucking love rural life. Had a phone call this morning asking if I’d lost a pair as they had found a couple
walking down the street in the next village and someone thought they belonged to a lady who had recently moved.

was quite sad to have to say no! Never a dull moment 🤣

erm. Westley and I are back on. Have been for a couple of weeks. Was quite apparent that we didn’t want to be apart so…let’s see what happens.

Geller isn’t driving my beloved Landy. If he had been I’d have taken the keys off him for crimes against driving 🤣 he traded it for an entirely boring and nondescript mass produced motor of no imagination.

RandomMess · 26/07/2022 16:55

So he has a smaller car and still couldn't manage 🙄😳
