So he has a different company coming on Saturday to take what’s there plus the garage contents

All of his stuff? Have the company come to estimate for the job?

Glad there's progress though Smile

Taliskerskye · 01/06/2021 19:25

It will be hilarious if he’s ballsed up the second lot of movers too.

RandomMess · 01/06/2021 19:32

Take anything you want out of the garage and fill it with ALL his stuff. Empty the cellar, loft and shove it all in there.

He will have to pick through it if he doesn't take it all.

@Skiptheheartsandflowers

I have just spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for suitable ringtones for John.

You will be surprised, if not shocked to the core, to discover that the removal company were not prepared to remove twice the amount of items / boxes and furniture that they quoted for. Who could have guessed?

And for some reason I can’t fathom, they are not prepared for come back for them. Obviously nothing to do with John arguing with them and calling one of them a jobsworth.

So he has a different company coming on Saturday to take what’s there plus the garage contents. So progress is being made.

Now I’m off to take the kids to the park for ice cream. You are never too old for ice cream in the park.

Sadly not all of his stuff - just the extra things from today and the contents of the garage. He will still have the basement and attic to go.

It’s turns out that Saturday’s men are not a removal company - its two men with a van. Who are going to take most of the contents of the garage for recycling.

For at least 10 years I’ve been asking him to clear it out as it’s 80% his junk. The kids can’t get their bikes in properly and I have to climb over things to get the lawn mower out. He has repeatedly refused, saying they are items of sentimental value and I’ve not to move them.

Yet now, quite miraculously, these items of great sentimental value have now turned into a load of junk which can be disposed of. A miracle indeed.

Taliskerskye · 01/06/2021 22:03

Well I hope he’s sorted it meticulously!! I’m not sure they’d be happy for him to faff around.

SpringCrocus · 01/06/2021 22:11

Make sure you have removed anything you value and want from the garage, then!

He is such a twat. Just as long as the two men with a van don't take the kids' bikes and the lawnmower...

Tempting as they are I need a ringtone that’s suitable for work / children Grin .

Not a ring tone but a did have an epic fail on my phone when I changed my (physically, emotionally abusive and cheating ex) husbands name.

Cheating Unreliable Narcissistic Twat didnt fit, so I shortened it.

Which I totally forgot about until last year during lockdown (a year ago today actually!) he called to speak to our DD. My teen DD was hissing at me as I passed the phone over "MUM!!!! His name on your phone!!!"

Luckily, DD was only 9 and didnt know what a Cheating Unreliable Narcissistic Twat is .....:o

AcrossthePond55 · 02/06/2021 03:05

How 'bout a bit of Nilsson?

So the garage contents resemble their owner?

Well that sounds kosher 😳 I trust he checked their waste collection certificate and it’s not going to end up fly tipped with things with your address all over it, that could get you as well as him in trouble.

I hope there's nothing with your name & address in there Op.

But possibly something with his name & new address...

chesterelly · 02/06/2021 08:16

diddl makes a good point. Print off loads of labels "property of/deliver to John, new address". Just for the avoidance of doubt when it's fly-tipped. Karma would be served if it was dumped in a field belonging to a farmer at the end of his tether that goes round to the owner with his muck spreader and turns it on.

BruceAndNosh · 02/06/2021 08:57

Also large neon labels for things you DON'T want removal men to take, like law mower and bikes

I did enquire and he says they have all the right paperwork /certificates.

I will of course take photos of them and their van etc. But he’s doing what I asked him to do - clear the garage of his things - and I don’t want to start being too difficult about it. It’s not really up to me to approve his contractors.
