Can’t believe it, but here we are on Thread 5!

Thread 4 here

Just back from a 4.5 mile run - bit cold this morning! I’ve sea monkeys growing in the kitchen, soaps hardening in the bathroom, and the carpets are full of glitter. They had a great weekend!

The thumb also seems to be improving. Phew.

All on today to prep for tomorrow’s meeting with Geller. He really does seem broken. But I will not waiver.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and all health ailments are on the mend. Time to slap on some moisturiser - caught the sun this weekend - but look much better for it!

Another person seconding The Good Place. Also the Unbreakable kimmy smidt is amazing. (Woman captured and held in a bunker with 3 other women by a self styled doomsday 'Reverend' for most of her teenage years then released and figuring out her life and who she is in new york. Its a comedy series, very funny but also female empowering with a throughly likeable main character. Also John Hamm plays the reverend. And Daveed diggs plays a brief romantic interest in a later series

I have asked DH and apparently we are having Roast Turkey today, often the response is "food" or "surprise" Grin

I think most of the things we've watched and enjoyed have already been mentioned although we did work through "The Good Wife" from start to end very recently & "Only Fools & Horses" which has plenty of jaw dropping moments at how inappropriate/offensive it is ShockShockShockShock still clever and funny though.

Soon I need to do week 4 run 3 of couch to 5k, I am just not dealing well with wet feet. When I wear waterproof socks I just get sweaty feet and you still get that cold sensation??? Slightly better with thin cotton socks underneath. As my knees were so unhappy why I tried last year I've been trying to stick to running on grass, the field may be like a big today after yesterday's rain!

Late afternoon will be a long dog walk on the beach unfortunately high tide is 11am which is rather inconvenient.

Being back at work is pants. WFH doing training all very part time and phased but very lonely whilst the rest of team are drowning in stress and deadlines which makes it tricky for me to ask "how do I do x, where do I get y from?"

At my therapy appointment the other week the building security guy decided to open up the conversation "it's taken you ages to write that" with reference to the sign in book 🙄 I wish I had been feeling in the right frame of mind that post stroke I struggle to remember things and struggle to write Angry perhaps next time I will say something in the hope that he engage his brain and just says positive things to visitors/patients/clients!

DD2 and I are having ribs, and I am thirding The Good Place and also Lucifer and Outlander. I'm going to make a cake today and sit in the garden for a bit but not do any weeding. I installed our new mattresses yesterday and those beasts are heavy so I ache - but I had the most amazing night's sleep. DD2 is still down so it looks like hers is turning out good too.

LannieDuck · 09/05/2021 10:45

I second the Good Wife recommendation - absolutely adore it. I've seen it three times! (I also love Big Bang and couldn't get on with Schitt's creek, so we maybe have similar tastes...)

I also enjoyed 'Staged' - a Covid show with David Tennant and Michael Sheen. Whimsical and very funny.

RandomMess · 09/05/2021 10:53

DH and DD3 are totally in to the Good Place but too far ahead for me to catch up and join in!

DH watches a lot of films/series whilst at working so long as they aren't too
Complicated or subtitled Wink

SpringCrocus · 09/05/2021 11:15

👍 to Staged, both series. Fabulous stuff.

Twitchynose · 09/05/2021 12:43

* Doesn't It Always Run Really Horribly Over Each Ankle
Genius! I used to have diarrhoea on a piece of paper in my desk drawer, this is much better (I often needed to write it at work). Polly - I’ve been following your threads (lurker not stalker, honest guv), I can’t believe how far you’ve come in such a short space if time. You’re doing amazingly.

Meet the Goldbergs is fab, I'm also strangely enjoying The Great British Sewing Bee Confused

tiredvommachine · 09/05/2021 17:10

I had roast lamb, cooked by DH. Was yum 😋

Raindancer411 · 09/05/2021 17:27

I love Gilmore girls

ElGuardiandenoche · 09/05/2021 19:42

DH is cooking marinated chicken wings on the bbq along with corn on the cob and doing a lovely mixed leaf salad ( my eldest was in Tesco earlier and spotted bags of different salad’s that were yellow stickered and picked up a few different ones for 10p each)

Prodigal Son is a really good Series as is Staged, both have Michael Sheen in them. Lucifer and The Good Wife are a nice watch as well. The Sewing Bee is my happy place.

I’ve had my second injection and compared to the first dose it’s been a walk in the park. First I was as ill as an ill thing, I’m disabled anyway and it exacerbated a lot of my problems plus added more on top. I wondered why the hell I’d agreed to have it. The second I’ve had a bit of a sore arm and that’s it.

drspouse · 09/05/2021 22:05

We had sausages from the bottom of the freezer (ssh) and wedges. Way too much in our freezer.

StuckInPollyannaMode · 09/05/2021 22:35

Ooh I LOVED Staged!

Damn, been chatting to Date Yoga Dude and missed The Pursuit of Love.

I met a racehorse earlier today. Took the Dollies for a bike ride and there’s a field I always pass on my runs which has just been cut and every time I go past it I think god, I’d love to gallop on there. Then this horse materialised (there’s a stud just round the corner) and did just that and it was beautiful - totally balanced rider and talk about man and beast working in harmony, it was stunning. They walked back to the stud with me and we were chatting away, it’s racing this week in Somerset and if I knew how to do it I’d put a fiver on!

Had an absolutely super weekend with the Dollies. They’ve been brilliant and we’ve had lots of fun. Until bedtime.

If a mermaid was injured would she go to a human hospital or a vet hospital?

Apparently not being able to figure out the answer was stopping them going to sleep.

I yelled they’d cut her in half but who knew that isn’t the right thing to say?

VinylCafe · 09/05/2021 22:55

Just delurking to say I think the mermaid would go to a marine mammals hospital!

BTW, I've been quietly cheering on you and your DDs.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 09/05/2021 22:56

I yelled they’d cut her in half but who knew that isn’t the right thing to say?. 😂 😂 😂

RandomMess · 09/05/2021 23:18

😂

Sunbird24 · 10/05/2021 00:19

I’m going to go with either ‘it depends whether the injury was in her human half or her fish half’, or ‘a mermaid hospital obviously, as both vets and human hospitals are on land’ 🤔

CliffsofMohair · 10/05/2021 02:24

TV recommendations
Mrs Maisel (Amazon Prime) same writers as Gilmore Girls. Afraid I had the same response to the GG reunion as @Justilou1, in that it was wrong wrong wrong.

The Durrells (Netflix) v gentle and beautiful to look at. Keeley Hawes and family move to Cyprus. Her Durrells life is a damn sight happier than her Line of Duty life.

Offspring (Netflix) Aus family drama about an obstetrician. Very funny and sad in parts.

Polly, you’re nailing this post Geller life.

Pashazade · 10/05/2021 07:03

Why are the hard questions always at bedtime?! But your response made me laugh. 😁

Justilou1 · 10/05/2021 07:41

Well, if it makes you feel better, if they’re coming up with questions like this, they’re very bright little people. That’s very creative thinking!!!

Shouldbedoing · 10/05/2021 08:57

All children become dehydrated philosophers at bedtime.

Outofexcuses · 10/05/2021 10:43

Delurking to recommend a couple of French tv series (pretentious? Moi?).
Arsene is a brilliant crime/mystery, a bit like Sherlock, with the most gorgeous actor in the lead role.
Call My Agent is silly and funny and has lots of excellent swearing in French.
You can tell yourself you’re watching them to improve your language skills.
Otherwise, Derry Girls is one of the funniest series I’ve ever seen. There is a headteacher nun who is just superb. Love it. (That said, it shows teenage girls in all their gruesome glory, so might be too scary for you.)

Mix56 · 10/05/2021 11:04

I recommend the Queens Gambit
The Serpent (kind of dark though)
both on Netflix

Mermaids have to obviously go the sea mammals vet mermaid specialists in Marineworld. (they need to be in water surely ?)
