Can’t believe it, but here we are on Thread 5!

Thread 4 here

Just back from a 4.5 mile run - bit cold this morning! I’ve sea monkeys growing in the kitchen, soaps hardening in the bathroom, and the carpets are full of glitter. They had a great weekend!

The thumb also seems to be improving. Phew.

All on today to prep for tomorrow’s meeting with Geller. He really does seem broken. But I will not waiver.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and all health ailments are on the mend. Time to slap on some moisturiser - caught the sun this weekend - but look much better for it!

Good luck with your meeting, Pollyanna.

I just want to remind you that you have put a lot of time, effort, thought and consideration into this meeting. Stick to your guns, don’t let Geller get under your skin or sway you. You are right.

pointythings · 27/04/2021 07:54

Good luck with the meeting, Polly. Cool, calm and collected - and if he's an unreasonable shitbag which is the likely outcome you walk away with a cheery 'See you in court!'

ItWasAgathaAllAlong · 27/04/2021 08:31

Ha ha - I've got Samsung washing machine and tumble dryer and I've had good old Schubert going every day for 2 years! Sometimes, I've even got both machines to (accidentally) finish at the same time in unison... but when it's 'just off' unison (being a bit of a musician) it really makes my ears hurt!

I know I could turn it off, but it does help to know when the next loads are due in. I wonder why Samsung chose a whole tune rather than just a beep or 3-note scale or something like other brands... but on the whole, can't complain, they're really good appliances, albeit more expensive at the point of sale. I love the 'add wash' door in the washing machine so I can add in those pesky stray socks once the machine has started, and I've had the condensing tumble dryer plumbed into the mains drains so that I don't have to empty the water tray any more. I'm not sure if that's normal across other brands, but at the time I'm pretty sure only Samsung had this as s standard option.

Schubert was just an unfortunate added extra! Grin

(Sorry for the laundry derail!)

StuckInPollyannaMode · 27/04/2021 09:41

I so miss my 10kg Zanuzzi! Love line dried laundry. I made the beds yesterday and there is something about fresh bedlinen.

Not that it helped me, only got about 2 hours sleep.

I've a presentation to give at 11 and then I'm going to reread my notes and through all the sums one last time. Cool, calm and collected. The law is on my side. He has far more to lose than me if we end up in court. I think my stock phrase is going to be 'so what are you going to do about it?' As Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks said in You've Got Mail, it's not personal, it's business.

It's not personal, it's business. If he can't separate the two and make me an offer - and I want him to be the first to concede, psychologically that's better from my point of view - then I'll just hand it back to solicitors.

I'm not taking any shit about what I should be doing or living. This is about money, pure and simple.

I've my commercial head on and I'm going for it.

You have the right attitude. This is for your children and you. You deserve the best settlement you can get.

This is what you have regained since you left Geller. I hope for his sake he works this out! Thinking of you today!!!

Wonder what Gellerclone thought a ‘tune’ was a good idea on a household appliance??

DartmoorDoughnut · 27/04/2021 14:57

It's a Korean thing. We lived there for a year and everything made cheerful tunes - even the giant cranes reversing in the construction yard.
StuckInPollyannaMode · 27/04/2021 20:48

Oooh I’d LOVE to go to Korea (south not north!) lucky you.

Perhaps I’d pack earplugs.

Well. I’m on my knees. Had to have 2 strong gins straight after each other when I came home.

He was actually shaking. I basically chaired it. He hadn’t prepped at all.

He has conceded 50% of his pension for the time we were together, 82% of equity and savings, and a small spousal payment each month for the next 3.5 years until the start of secondary. He is increasing the child maintenance marginally.

This draws a line under it. It means I can buy a house. A sensible one. It leaves him with the bulk of pensions and me with the bulk of equity, but when you look at the balance of the figures I actually come out slightly on top. I won’t be swanning around in a Range Rover any time soon, but that’s ok. The girls and I will be alright.

It saves court and the stress and means I can move on. Yes, I’d get more pension if I went to court, but then I might have to drop on the equity.

I just hope my solicitor thinks it’s a good deal. Because I’m done.

He tried to pull the emotional cards several times. I just shut him down.

Cried all the way home. I just feel empty and so tired. Heading to bed soon.

Well done for standing firm and not caving to his emotional blackmail.

Thanks
