I would ask him to go first OP.

For the wax, I mean, not IKEA.

It isn't pain free but you need a waxing specialist would be my advice! And
Prepare to be in some unusual intimate positions...

Yeahmetoo · 03/10/2020 15:59

Yes it hurts. But it gets easier over time if it's something you keep up to.

If you fancy it, plan to go in a few weeks and use a sensitive moisturiser on your skin where it will be waxed (obviously not too close between your legs as could cause irritation!) and that makes it a lot easier and less painful. But don't moisturise on the day otherwise it's harder for them to do it as even hours later your skin can still be a bit slippy!

Yeahmetoo · 03/10/2020 16:00

And after your first time I wouldn't bank on action that night. That area will need a little rest and recovery time!!

StarlightLady · 03/10/2020 16:13

It stings rather than causes pain, less so the more often you have it done. And as someone more subtly put it, the first time at least, avoid sex on the same day.

The upside is that for me, it pleasantly increases sensitivity.

The downside is that, unlike shaving, you have to allow regrowth.

If he wants to have a go, l’m told (by a friend!) that it makes it look bigger.

StarlightLady · 03/10/2020 16:14

Sorry, pressed send to soon. Can’t comment on the food thing. For me, no thank you.

BikeTyson · 03/10/2020 16:16

Lycon wax is great, hardly hurts at all. I can’t comment on food play though!

Clymene · 03/10/2020 16:18

It's your body, why would you put yourself through a painful, expensive and humiliating procedure to look like you work in porn?

@Clymene - And do you apply the same rules for legs, underarms and men who shave their faces? It’s all body hair.

TableFlowerss · 03/10/2020 16:47

I just use the hair removal cream

Newnamenewopenme · 03/10/2020 16:48

Why would you want to give advice about something you clearly know nothing about. It’s £30 a month that saves a lot of effort when it comes to going swimming etc and I feel a lot cleaner, nothing to do with porn. At no point have I felt humiliated as I am having a treatment done by a trained professional.

Yes it is your body, so yea you only do what you are comfortable with. But if you are in a loving relationship it’s important to share what you would both like and try it if you feel happy to do so. You could always have it done once and decide if you want it done again or not after. Avoid strip wax for bikini though, hot wax is best because it doesn’t hurt as much! The positions aren’t too bad either, I lay with my legs down throughout and then lift them to my chest for 20 seconds at the end.

workhomesleeprepeat · 03/10/2020 16:49

So he only want to do food play once you have a bald vag? They wax your bum hole too FYI.

ColleagueFromMars · 03/10/2020 16:59

This is my own position - no way in hell I'd put myself through that pain and lack of dignity in a salon for somebody else, and the fact that it's been popularised and normalised by porn, is fucking problematic.

If I wanted to for myself, I would. But I don't ask a partner to go through painful and humiliating hair removal from their most sensitive and private body part and I find it really weird for anybody to ask that of somebody they love.

@StarlightLady if leg/arm/face hair shaving was only popularised by porn then you betcha I'd have a problem with a woman being asked to do it by a man, too. I do believe they're fairly common regardless of porn though - but also yes, people absolutely should only shave off whatever body hair they want to. I know a few women who don't remove underarm hair, and it becomes boringly normal once you've seen it a few times. Whilst I do shave my pits (I find smell lingers on hair) it's literally been about a year since I shaved my legs.

LadyIronDragon · 03/10/2020 17:14

It would be a hard NO from me on the waxing. I don't like pain for a start, and I also like to look like a grown adult female. It's not popular on MN but I would find it a bit ick for a man to express a strong preference for complete hairlessness. Neat and tidy and short is one thing but totally bald, is not for me. It's really up to you on that front though.

Food play maybe. Can't see the appeal particularly but since it wouldn't be painful (presumably?!) And could be tasty I would consider it.

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 03/10/2020 17:18

There's approximately 34,732 threads about pubes on MN. Opinions range from pearl-clutching horror to the enthusiastic embrace of improved hygiene, appearance and sensation (guess which camp I'm in!)

My best advice is to try it, and see what you think. If you like it, great, keep doing it. If you don't like it, the plus side is, it grows back!

I wouldn't wax though - waiting 4-6wks for the hair to get long enough is a total drag. Just shave. Use the best quality shaving products (ie mens) because a crappy disposable razor is it going to be nice.

I've shaved my pubes for the last 15 odd years, after leaving my ex, who was really into hairy women. What a relief.

I feel sad that so many women want to hide their beautiful body parts under a carpet of hair. And when I sleep with a woman, I prefer not to get a mouthful of hair. (And equally, I prefer my guys to remove the hair off their balls.)

Food sex to me though - hard no. Putting down rubber sheets before sex is not my idea of romance.

I've shaved

LuckyAmy1986 · 03/10/2020 17:25

I don't get rid of my hair but I don't get this at all... If I prefer a man clean shaven does that mean I want a little boy?! (I don't by the way) Such a stupid argument.

Oh but I do shave my legs and underarms... I am guessing the women who think getting rid rid of pubic hair makes you look pre-pubescent also don't remove hair from these areas? Other that would be hypocritical.

DeliaOwens · 03/10/2020 17:26

I get full wax regularly, it's a personal preference for me. I am from a family with strong hair growth and waxing makes me feel better. You need an expert. I mean this, a true expert. Preferably a salon that only does waxing and uses a good quality wax (Lycon and Caron are good)
I take a sting painkiller about 40 mins before and it fills but dies not kill the pain of such an intimate wax.

It is an intimate wax but you will provide nothing a good therapist has nit seen or done before.

I can't comment on food play, that is not my bag. I don't want to have to set up plastic sheets before sex and clean up these same sheets after. I prefer things to be less constructed.

Huh? The same applies in reverse, I'd find a totally hairless man unattractive as well. Because that's my preference, that I'm allowed to have... And yes it's because I like a man to look like a man.

It's not pearl-clutchy to not want to put myself through something painful for reasons I find unnecessary. It's not pearl-clutchy to apply some thought to why woman do this nowadays and why men expect it.
