Hi there - previous thread started with DH AWOL , arrested for drink driving . Final straw for me in out marriage , planning to leave in secret on Thursday. 6 days to go . Feeling shit about everything - pain the kids will have to go through , pain and upset his family and him . Wishing he was a reasonable person enough that we could separate amicably. Wishing I could predict which way this is going to go- hating the double life I am currently leading .Sad started this thread just for the hand holding whilst the proverbial hits the fan over the next 7 days !

Do you have his location on an app? If you manage that. I worry he may forget something and pop back, if it's at lunch I wonder if you can spend a few minutes on the phone with him just chatting about something, that way he would likely tell you if he forgot something and is turning around.
As long as you're not alone though, it should be okay. I hope you have a big guy helping out (I think you previously mentioned your boss' husband is aware?) in case he shows up. Just be aware if you can't track on your phone.

Good luck OP, I hope it all goes smoothly. Are you getting the keys today? I mentioned on your previous thread that moving day tomorrow is my birthday, and it would be a fantastic present to know that you've got out Flowers

Cherrybakewellard · 08/07/2020 10:08

@Mydoghasbettereyebrowsthanme good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

One thing. Just so you can see some humour in this one day when you look back. I helped a friend 20 years ago get out in a secret flit from an abusive mother. If you have time, take the lightbulbs. That'll piss him off majorly and he won't notice until later. Petty I know but I'm trying to inject some humour Grin

Really rooting for you.
Given it's likely to be wet, can you find something to put over the carpet of your new house to minimise the damage by wet feet.
This happened to us and we were lucky enough to have some large pieces of cardboard and some decorating sheets to hand - saved us from having a huge clear up mess.
Flowers

Good luck. Won't be expecting updates or checking tomorrow until late because you need to concentrate on getting out!
Just remembered, I found the easiest way to move the bedding and remake in the new house was to turn up the edges of the fitted sheet so it holds the duvet, pillows and everything in one and just fold then roll. Once in the new place you put the bundle on the new bed and unroll and pop down the edges of the fitted sheet and do a quick smooth and place the pillows. Worth doing so the kids beds are sorted and familiar as quickly as they can be.

Wishing all the luck in the world for tomorrow OP. With so many of you please grab everything you can inc sentimental items as anything left behind he may destroy.
I know it's against rules but can anyone else come and help too, as many hands as possible!

rayoflightboy · 08/07/2020 13:27

A couple of prawns stuffed under the fridge is brilliantly effective.

AcrossthePond55 · 08/07/2020 13:41

Independence Day is almost here!

Will have fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that all goes smoothly.

Ajoor · 08/07/2020 13:56

Mountainpika · 08/07/2020 14:01

Be good if his car battery went flat while he's at golf. Or a tyre - as long as he noticed before driving off. (That would be too dangerous.)

Hope all goes well.

BitOfANameChange · 08/07/2020 14:10

Oh, my fingers are crossed that it all goes smoothly for you.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but if you are paying the utility bills, get photos of the meter readings when you leave, so there's no argument.

And don't feel guilty about taking all the food. You and the Dc need it. My ex had been so insistent that it was his house and He made the decisions, that I thought "fuck it, I'm taking the things I bought". Which turned out to be a lot of the interior stuff, and the food. The only thing I wish I'd done at the time was I wish I could have taken cuttings of the plants in the garden. I'm learning about gardening now, since he never let me do anything or decide anything.

Georgielovespie · 08/07/2020 14:11

Good luck for tomorrow. I hope it goes really smoothly. Just chuck everything you can into the van, you can sort it at the other end.

It is a shame someone can't give him a flat tyre at the golf place to slow him down Wink or meet him for a soft drink in the club house afterwards.

LightUpLetters · 08/07/2020 15:39

I hope everything goes to plan
