Light-hearted - What's the most trivial reason you've broken up with someone/declined a date?

Inspired by a different, more serious, thread but thought there must be some great, light-hearted stories about ridiculous, trivial or unreasonable things that have given you the 'ick'.

Gotta pass the time while we're all stuck inside.

His face annoyed me

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/04/2020 19:52

Has his jumper tucked in to his jeans.

Another one turned up to take me out in a three wheeler car.

I was so shallow as a teenager!

teejayem · 07/04/2020 20:24

Took me to a pretty rough but cool pub On first date, I got a beer, and ordered for himself.....
Amaretto and coke.

All his muscly man appeal withered and died in that moment for me. There was no second date.

catsareme14 · 07/04/2020 20:28

His name was Gordon ....

Lordfrontpaw · 07/04/2020 20:49

Was he a moron?

Lumierecandle · 07/04/2020 23:40

I was turned off from the start by his suction/stabbing kisses. He ‘joked’ about me being his future wife on the second date. We were only 17. After I dumped him he sent me a long email accusing me of ‘not knowing god’ when neither of us ever professed to be vagueness religious.

Lumierecandle · 07/04/2020 23:40

vaguely* religious.

Worked with him. Went on a couple of dates but he was just really feminine and very theatrical.

When I said I just wanted to be friends, he came and dropped a load of birthday presents he'd got me at my door and shouted 'well what else am I going to do with them now' as he walked back to his car.

He called into work sick for about 4 days afterwards. He rang me drunk on one of the days he was off, crying about us 'breaking up'. It had been no longer than a week.

LittleMcJiggle · 08/04/2020 01:46

He ejaculated up my nose

Oh you've just reminded me of my high school boyfriend who ejaculated in my eye during our first foreplay attempt Smile

We actually stayed together through the rest of high school and college, he was lovely.

We would still laugh about it now I'm sure Grin

He kept putting a sort of roll on lip balm on his lips. Yuck. Very effeminate - into japanese fashion. Asked me after 15 minutes whether I was going to see him again.

Another one kept picking up his mobile and having long chats. I just got up, waved and left the pub and crossed the road to the bus stop. He was surprised and shocked.

Another one met me in a pub and ordered a glass of water. I ordered a half of lager. When i asked him how his week was he said it was shit, because his whole life was shit. After 20 minutes he ran out of the pub.
A month or two later he contacted me again on OLD forgetting he'd asked me out before.

Another told me he usually only liked skinny girls. He was extremely surprised when I walked out and got a taxi.

Bouledeneige · 08/04/2020 02:02

Oh another one worked in an international development charity. His flat was fully of very dusty fusty african artifacts. It was quite dirty. He had worked on an AIDs project in Africa but wanted to have unsafe sex.

avocadont · 08/04/2020 02:10

It was when I met my fiancé so nothing would have progressed anyway but I went on a date with a very sweet and genuine guy who's only downfall was that he clapped whenever he asked a question. A first date, where all you do is ask questions.

Snoooozzze · 08/04/2020 02:33

DH and I have been together 16 years so it's a while since I last broke up with anyone but there was a guy who was such a nice person but had a huge brown mole on his forehead above his left eyebrow and he absentmindedly fiddled with it throughout the date.

It was literally all I could do not to stare at it. It looked like it was (or had the potential to be...) a hairy one too and it just made my skin crawl.

Another one ... I invited a friend of a friend to a house party and we were going together and meeting for a drink before so first date-ish. He turned up in a full Adidas 3 stripe tracksuit, no T-shirt under the zipped jacket with shoes on (like brogue type). I finished my drink quickly and left for the party without telling him. (I excused myself to go the loo) Not too kind I know but I definitely don't regret my decision...

Met him on a night out when I was really quite drunk. Had a good laugh and arranged a date. The evening of the date came and he turned up wearing a red shirt and a leather waistcoat and that was the end of that.
