Light-hearted - What's the most trivial reason you've broken up with someone/declined a date?

Inspired by a different, more serious, thread but thought there must be some great, light-hearted stories about ridiculous, trivial or unreasonable things that have given you the 'ick'.

Gotta pass the time while we're all stuck inside.

This thread has me in tears 🤣🤣
First date; he was a messy eater, I said I was off to the loo and he should choose dessert, I never came back.

JKScot4 · 29/03/2020 18:07

@Inappropriatefemale
Agreed 😉

Baxterbear · 29/03/2020 18:33

I had to get rid of a guy I was seeing cos his idea of foreplay was whispering "are you awake!".

Inappropriatefemale · 29/03/2020 19:05

@JKScot4 aren’t us women with Scottish guys ever so lucky?! Grin

tinytemper66 · 29/03/2020 19:25

Too tall

deste · 29/03/2020 20:31

Hé turned up for the date wearing black leather gloves.

Giggorata · 29/03/2020 22:04

He wore brown cords to a date and they were too short
Another one used to suck my tongue like a Hoover when we were kissing.
Another one used to put on silly voices. All the time. Excruciating.

Wauden · 29/03/2020 22:32

Ginsmything · 29/03/2020 22:35

Bloke here. Having laughed at these over the last few days I've realised there are two I'm really quite ashamed of....

1970s, older very attractive girl asked me out. Even though I liked her I didn't see her.... because she worked at Woolworths.

2017, very attractive lady via OLD, an alternative type but very lovely nonetheless. We saw each other once and spoke a couple of times. Last phone call, I asked her what she'd been doing and she said.... "singing from the top of hills". Oh dear.

I am truly sorry about both.

Baxterbear · 30/03/2020 18:47

Can someone please explain what OLD means? I've seen it on a few posts now but haven't the foggiest idea what it is! It's driving me nuts!! 😕

takeanotherchillpill · 30/03/2020 18:48

OLD = On Line Dating

ItsABitOfAShitFightMate · 30/03/2020 18:49

I have been put off guys who have the wrong kind of handwriting. Especially those who mix their capital letters with their lower case letters in blatantly the wrong place. It screams 'never got to joined up writing' to me.

Baxterbear · 30/03/2020 22:56

On-line dating!! It's so obvious now! Thanks guys 😘

Sparklynails7 · 31/03/2020 04:28

@ArthurDentsSpaceTowel nah that's not dyslexia. I know a few with varying sevetities of dyslexia and they don't do that. Those guys you've seen are just uneducated Grin

Sparklynails7 · 31/03/2020 04:30

*severities idk why my phone changed the spelling Hmm

Tomasinabombadil · 31/03/2020 07:27

Only did OLD once and met up with a nice bloke for a coffee. Getting along really well until he said 'it's great you don't live to far away, I can pop in and see you on a week night' followed by 'I can't wait for you to meet my children'. I made a quick exit at that point.

A while later one of my mates set me up on a blind date. Had a good evening with him and had a laugh. Seemed nice. He then admitted at the end of the evening that he had a season ticket at Man Utd and our mutual friend had told him not to tell me. Told him straight that I wouldn't be seeing him again.

Needtheadvice · 31/03/2020 13:49

@ArthurDentsSpaceTowel Grin actually my dyslectic child does do that!! Working hard to get rid of that habit> wish me luck!

There was this tall, blond and very good looking guy, went back to his place to party with my friends as one knew him and soon he was showing me a lot of interest. Not single so I am polite, and let him know that I am not available nor interested. All good, still chatting along, no problem. As I get ready to go he wants to show me something and drags me into his little daughters bedroom who is at her mothers! Starts talking about her, she is a lovely girl as there is pictures, but at this point even if I was single I would be over the hills and FAR away. He kissed me before I knew what happened and I hop out the door dragging my friends with me. Any kids was a no go for me at that time. Word got back to me that if I became single that I knew where to find him.. Never took him up on that.

Whoareyoudududu · 31/03/2020 15:14

He turned up to the first date with gifts but not just a bunch of flowers or something, he’d bought me a record and a book and actually gone to the effort of wrapping them up for me. I didn’t have a record player so that gift was useless. I just found it weird so blocked his number on the way home.

Discodancingdiva · 01/04/2020 13:39

These are brilliant!

  1. He'd caught my eye at college and my friend gave him my number. He called. And his voice just killed it dead. He sounded like Milky MilkyShock. I did meet up with him though, just to be sure. He walked like Herman Munster. Confused

  2. Budding romance with a lovely bloke first term at university. We had loads in common and got on like a house on fire. First time I stayed over at his he casually mentioned that he didn't need to go to the laundry that often because.....he wore all his underpants twice: once the right way round, then inside out.Envy (not envy)
