Guy stopped replying when I said I had gained weight

I am 5'7 and in my early 20s I weighed almost 2 stone less than I do now. I was a size 4 and admittedly very light for my height, I always had comments about how thin I was.
Now i'm a size 6 and gained a lot of muscle but also some fat which I find harder to shift, i'm still slim but curvier.

I have been talking to a guy since Xmas and we were supposed to meet tomorrow night. We were talking about exercise and finess, I mentioned this in a jokey way how I had gained almost 2 stone since I was 24 (5 years ago).

Anyway he just stopped replying and hasn't replied since. You can see from my pictures I am clearly slim, he may think they are old pictures but I think I look my age on them. They are also the pictures I have on social media so he could have looked me up if he wanted.

It may be because of something else entirely but just seems coincidental. Should I text him to ask if it's still on ?

How shallow. I would just move on... after I'd sent him a current photo (clean) clearly taken today, lol.

Mandarinfish · 09/01/2020 18:47

He probably thinks they are old pictures and feels a bit deceived.

Phoenixxx · 09/01/2020 18:47

Yeah. The thing is he knows i'm a runner and i have said i do a lot of exercise, just find it amazingly shallow if it's that.

Just so he sees what he's missing!

unbaffled · 09/01/2020 18:48

He's a prick. Move on.

Phoenixxx · 09/01/2020 18:48

He may do but my surname is on the dating app, he could easily look me up on Facebook and see that they are recent pics. Also he can't actually know until he meets me in person.

He's shallow but 2 stone does sound like a lot

Phoenixxx · 09/01/2020 18:48

When he's a mixture of Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt then he can afford to be that shallow 😂

OP posts:
KylieKoKo · 09/01/2020 18:49

And people do use deceiving photos. Chalk it up to experience

Phoenixxx · 09/01/2020 18:49

It is a lot but I was underweight before and am still a size 6 now. Even if I had gained 2 stone from my 'now' pics I wouldn't be overweight.

It's crazy that he can't even meet me in person to know.. Ah well, it's online dating, what do you expect 😂

Phoenixxx · 09/01/2020 18:50

Some shops still don't even stock a 6 these days !

OP posts:
Peterspotter · 09/01/2020 18:51

Come off the dating app.

You are clearly not fat of your a size size 6.

Peterspotter · 09/01/2020 18:52

Some shops still don't even stock a 6 these days !

Oooh get you...

Phoenixxx · 09/01/2020 18:52

Just makes me think he's shallow. He didn't exactly look like a perfectly honed Adonis by any standards, but he seemed really nice. Maybe i'll just not mention it again 😂

Sure it might be shallow but the chatting stage of OLD is only about superficial attraction anyway and it’s a chance to rule out dealbreakers for people. Ok so you know you’re still very slim but it would be unusual to put on two stone and still be a size 6, and if he’s into health and fitness he clearly values body image and being lean. That’s his thing, he doesn’t have to change that for anyone, least of all someone he’s never even met. We’re all entitled to have our turn-offs and that doesn’t make us shallow!

Butterfly98 · 09/01/2020 18:53

OP I really wouldn't waste any more time wondering why he hasn't replied! It's probably unrelated to what you said about the weight gain but even if it is then he can't be that bright as most people know if you're a size 6 and work out a lot then the weight is from building muscle and not from fat! He sounds like a right thicko if you ask me!!

HollowTalk · 09/01/2020 18:54

I think he's shallow, too. And a complete idiot. There are better guys out there for you. But why is your surname on the site?

Phoenixxx · 09/01/2020 18:55

Thanks. It's on Hinge where you have the option to put your surname, but might take it off. Anyway i'll forget him.

Lucky escape I'd say

MikeUniformMike · 09/01/2020 18:59

2 stone on a size 6 might be a lot but 2 stone on a size 6 runner might mean really fit and a terrific figure. What a tosser.

Embracelife · 09/01/2020 19:02

Dont tell anyoneagsin you put on two stone it sounds a lot
Even tho you are clearly slim
But yeh no loss

lifeisgoodmostofthetime · 09/01/2020 19:05

Probably thinks he's being catfished

aroundtheworldyet · 09/01/2020 19:08

Why on earth did you mention weight gain. It’s going to either make him think your current photos are not real.
Or make him think you have body issues.
Or make him think that you’ll be judgey about him in some way.
Or you’re really into fishing for compliments

I don’t think it’s about being shallow if your pics are up to date

My friend was chatting to someone and they said they had put on weight in the last year and she was a bit put off by it. Not because she’s shallow. But she thought he clearly had issues to raise it in the first place.

People who are comfortable don’t really say things like that.
