Guy stopped replying when I said I had gained weight

I am 5'7 and in my early 20s I weighed almost 2 stone less than I do now. I was a size 4 and admittedly very light for my height, I always had comments about how thin I was.
Now i'm a size 6 and gained a lot of muscle but also some fat which I find harder to shift, i'm still slim but curvier.

I have been talking to a guy since Xmas and we were supposed to meet tomorrow night. We were talking about exercise and finess, I mentioned this in a jokey way how I had gained almost 2 stone since I was 24 (5 years ago).

Anyway he just stopped replying and hasn't replied since. You can see from my pictures I am clearly slim, he may think they are old pictures but I think I look my age on them. They are also the pictures I have on social media so he could have looked me up if he wanted.

It may be because of something else entirely but just seems coincidental. Should I text him to ask if it's still on ?

You’re the same height as me and I don’t think I could ever be a size 4 or 6 without having an eating disorder so gaining 2 stone was probably for the best...

Anyway, you have dodged a major bullet with him so be thankful. He sounds like a total prick.

saying gaining a certain amount of weight sounds a lot is not fat shaming.

It may be a very bad message to be giving someone who was very underweight tho.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 10/01/2020 13:26

@category12 not disputing that

ChristmasFluff · 10/01/2020 13:29

I bet it's nothing to do with anything you have said about your weight, or anything you have said at all.

He's way more likely to be one of those time-wasters who only want a penpal/ego-stroke and have no intention of meeting. So it is the fact of an upcoming meeting that has had him disappearing. It's so common.

At this stage, it's never worth wondering why a person does anything, because at this stage it's never really anything to do with you or what you have or haven't done - it's all them and their stuff (on both sides).

Where's OP gone? I really want to know if she is US or UK...

NameChangeNugget · 11/01/2020 00:22

He probably feels deceived. Move on

Phoenixxx · 11/01/2020 17:23

Thanks for the replies, i'm in the UK. Also weighed myself today and not actually 2 stone gain only 1 stone 5 if that makes it any better 😁

Also I had a BMI of 18.4 or something before, now around 21. I am 169cm too which is 5"6.5 or something !

And I think it depends on the shop. I'm wearing a size 4 Primark Blazer now and it fits !

ScarlettBlaize · 11/01/2020 17:32

Primark, peacocks etc. come up HUGE. I'm also a size 4 in those shops but an 8 pretty much everywhere else.

21 is a good healthy medium BMI. 18.4 is underweight. Mine is 19.6 at the mo and I prefer it below 19 but it's hard to keep it there.

Phoenixxx · 11/01/2020 17:35

It's crazy how it can vary so much between shops ! You are right, it was unhealthy before ! How much difference in weight is there between 19 and 19.6? I'm sure you're great as you are !

He doesn’t deserve your time.

ScarlettBlaize · 11/01/2020 17:53

How much difference in weight is there between 19 and 19.6?

Not much - roughly the difference between 8 st 11 and 9 st 1. Probably no one else can see the difference, but I can!

He definitely isn't worth worrying about. I'm sure you look lovely Grin

Phoenixxx · 11/01/2020 17:55

Haha, I get what you mean !

Thank you :)

Talking about weight and appearance is vacuous. It’d put me off someone; get some better topics.

Phoenixxx · 11/01/2020 19:48

I understand why you say that. I like to think I talk about other topics but I will admit I am a little shallow and into my looks. Maybe that comes across but that's who I am.

You are still very slim so wouldnt care what that guy thinks u can do so much better. What is that guy going to do when he gets a wife and she gets pregnant and puts weight on ?leave her, guys like that are such a waste of time ,so many other nice ones out there.
