Just curious to see where people met up.

With me and mine it was through friends. I gave it a go because he made me laugh and made me feel i could be myself.

Such a wierd coincidence. I am not going to ask which university. No. No way. That would be totally strange.

Perhaps we should have a thread for all the people who met their other halves at bridge clubs. Perhaps there are masses of other people like us out there.

Then again, perhaps not.

He pinched my bottom when I walked by him at the Union. We danced together later that night, he took my number and called me in a drunken state on a train two weeks later. He lost reception at Wimbledon and so that was that, thought I.

However, it turned out that he was house sharing with a friend of my ex. The friend-in-common mailed me to say that my now DH would be at the Union that Friday and would love to meet with me. That was the 28th of March 1998 and we've been together ever since. We married in June of last year and are expecting our first child in October

At the local am dram club. We were mates first cos he was with someone else and then just got together after they broke up

keyhole · 28/08/2007 13:57

At school - he was my best friend and the one all the girls fancied. Always knew he was 'the one' even though we never got together until we were 23. Been together 10 years, married for 6 and with two gorgeous girls. We have so much history together and still best of friends!

PEONY1318 · 28/08/2007 13:59

Via a friend at work and then contact through email and crossed sea and finally moved in together and now happily married with no. 2 on the way - the funny thing is whenever my friend suggested her brother I actually laughed and thought it was impossible!!!! Fate eh???

thomcat · 28/08/2007 13:59

At college.

We dated at college then went our own ways, did our own thing, we kept bumping into each other but i was always with someone else and then we bumped into eqach other again in a pub one afternoon, I was newly single this time and he took me out later that week and have been together ever since.

We worked in the same office for 12 months. I had lunch with him and a couple of others in the office once or twice a week. We got along fantastically well. He was funny and very single. I was miserable in a relationship, but never thought I was his type.

Split with ex in Dec. Dh was leaving work for new job end of Jan. I had a few too many at his leaving do, dragged him onto dancefloor to "protect" me from a married lech. We snogged after saying how much we'd miss each other. He found out I was single and called me the next day to ask me out. Engaged within 7 months. Married after 18 months and conceived our lovely baby (5 months old) on honeymoon. Bit of a whirlwind but it all feels right!

We met on a mutual interest site, swapped msn addresses, chatted that day, swapped mobile numbers, talked that night for 3 hours, same thing for the next 6 nights, first date the next night, 5 months later we are moving to a new town together...

HollyGoHeavily · 28/08/2007 14:18

I advertised for a flatmate and got more than I bargained for when my DP showed up. I thought he was lovely and we have been together 6 years and are expecting our first child in November

Kaz1402 · 28/08/2007 15:03

In Vietnam. I had gone travelling for 6 months with my friend and he was on holiday. He sent me some photographs, I wrote to him, and he came to visit now and again when he was back from Cyprus (where he was living at the time). He pursued me and I resisted him. Then we ended up on holiday in Mexico for two weeks after only ever spending 48 hours together (which wasn't the original plan) and that was it really!

Funny thing is my friend also met her husband on the same trip and now lives in Australia with him. Both of us have two children Our escape from reality turned into a husband hunting expedition - by accident...

lucykate · 28/08/2007 15:57

hannahmary · 28/08/2007 16:19

in Colombia, climbing rocks (not selling drugs) We hung out loads, went on bike trips accross the country but I thought he had a girlfriend. FINALLY found out he didn't and we both really liked each other so he kissed me and we were inseparable from then on. Still not sure where we are going to end up but we talk and write constantly and I really hope to be able to say one day 'crossed the sea, now together 33 years and 1 dd and we still love each other like mad'!

Squiffy · 28/08/2007 16:43

In Sinatra's bar in Puerto Banus..

DH kissed me and I fainted clean away.

Not a good look from my point of view, but he was quite chuffed.

lissie · 28/08/2007 16:45

i was a barmaid in his local and we started going drinking together, we had a competition with some friends to see who could stay on the dancefloor the longest, then he kissed me. about 2d later he asked me out and i fell down the steps.

LOVABUMP · 28/08/2007 18:51

I had just split up with my ex because I refused to marry him ( knew he wasn't the one). As a result we sold house etc. I went up to pick up some mail a couple if months later and am now married with a ds and am pg with second, to chap we sold the house to . Oh and to top it off we still live in the house I sold to him! You just never know where you are going to find love, I am so pleased I went to collect mail that day

Mamamoor · 28/08/2007 19:28

On the internet - but dh doesn't like talking about it which I find a bit upsetting. I think it reminds him of a bad time in his life but then he met me and things obviously improved no end!!!!

Peachy · 28/08/2007 19:35

First week in a new job, strange creature walks into office, after he leaves Ia sk 'is that the office nerd then'- to huge nods all round.

3 Months later living together

lou33 · 28/08/2007 21:07

well he is coming tomorrow

today she had an accident, and ended up banging her face on a door frame, so she has a lump on her forehead and a bruise on her cheek and a strained neck

she is panicking because she doesnt want him seeing her like that, thinks it will put him off

i have told her to let him know what happened, and it wont make a blind bit of difference to him, he is coming to see her because he likes her for more than her looks

BigHotMama · 28/08/2007 21:22

1998 - First met him in Magaluf but only spoke for few minutes as heard his accent and knew he lived local to me, he was doing my head in tbh as kept trying to pull the back of my top down

Few weeks after arriving back home I bumped into him and he remembered me and asked if I'd had good time in Magaluf...nothing more happened

2002 - my sister worked with his sister in a salon and they set us up on blind date without us realising, then we found out we actually had met before and we are now married 5 years on.

I believe in fate

jetgirl · 28/08/2007 21:22

Met at uni, in same Halls in 1st year. Didn't get together until 3rd year. He had split up with his girlfriend that evening, oh and we shared a house that year too.

Got engaged on graduation day. Been together 8 years now, married for 6, have one DD with another LO on the way in November.

Joash · 28/08/2007 21:29

met through a friend. He was very fat and i wasn't. At that time i only ever went out with 'pretty-boys' so DH didnt get a look in. He walked me and my inhebriated friend home every night to make sure we were safe and one night asked if i'd let him take me out. I practically screamed NO!!! at him and he asked why. SO being the delicate little flower that i was then (read BIATCH) i said "Becasue you're FAT, FOUR-EYED & UGLY". He looked at me very calmly and asked if I would go out for a drink with him of he lost three stones. I said yes just to get rid of him.
2 months later, he knocked on my door having lost loads of weight and said "Well?"
I agreed (once again to get rid of him and we set a date - I was five hours late and he was still there.
We set another date - I was three hours late and he was still there.
We set a third date and I was an hour late ...he was still there.
He said that he was willing to carry on like that forever until I agreed to a date and turned up on time. SO I gave in, and we've been together ever since (26 years).
FUnny thing is, he's quite fit now, very tanned and toned - and IM very fat and have to wear glasses and he still loves me LOL

juicychops · 28/08/2007 21:30
