Just curious to see where people met up.

With me and mine it was through friends. I gave it a go because he made me laugh and made me feel i could be myself.

work

but he was going out with someone else at the time then she ditched him, I became quite close to him and helped him through it all then we fell in love... all in the space of about two weeks

can't have been that much in love with her then

rantinghousewife · 27/08/2007 22:44

Boringly enough, at work. I was a single parent working my arse off to pay a mortgage and he was divorced, with a batchelor pad and a swanky lifestyle!! Match made in heaven!! Fancied him for ages, told him so on a night out after a lot of dutch courage. Me; 'You do know I fanshied you for ages' Him; 'Yikes, must run for the hills....now' Been together 9 years!! Ahhh

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/08/2007 22:46

he was the BF of my (then) shag. Met for the first time in Feb...didn't see him again till beginning Aug when I took him home ..forgot all about him till I got a phone call in Sep asking me to come for a visit (he lived 250 miles from me). Drove to visit, crashed car en-route and had to be rescued as car was a write-off. Went out for 6 years, we split up, i found out i was PG....had DS and we stayed in regular contact (him driving 250 miles every two weeks to see his son). got back together when DS was two, got married when DS was three and two years later have just had our DD......

...he was also usher at earlier mentioned BFs wedding and we are all still good friends!!

At the fresher's society fair at uni, my first week - he remembers the first time he saw me, I don't recall him!

He asked for everyone's name and address who signed up so he could find out mine. He then insisted he walk me home as it was dark but felt a right idiot since I lived 100 yards away. In his wedding speech he said it was romantic in the 1990s but probably the actions of a stalker today!

we worked together for years but were just friends as both in other long term relationships. by coincidence our relationships ended within a couple of months of each other. went to a party and ended up going home together we've been together ever since and got married last month

GreenDolphin · 28/08/2007 10:19

On a train going to a CND demo!

mozzybear · 28/08/2007 10:26

His friend lived in my student house. His friends would sit and get stoned, he wasn't interested in that so wandered into my room and started examining my music collection. That was 6 years ago. Been married 2years and have 1DS.

ally90 · 28/08/2007 10:49

In a nightclub. Me and mate left in taxi. Told mate who I 'got off with'. Taxi driver knew her and said bloke. He radioed his other taxi driver mate as he was giving lift to said bloke. Did U turn in middle of road on outskirts of town, and dropped me off by taxi with said bloke in. And went back to his place :D. Would not do now(well I'm married and respectable)...but everyone knew him but me...so at least 3 people knew where I was :D got married just under 2 years later while 4 months pg planned.

Of course I don't tell anyone in rl that esp not family :D

Was just like a film. Without the cameras.

Othersideofthechannel · 28/08/2007 12:24

He was my student when I was teaching English!

boozle · 28/08/2007 12:27

At uni ... I was a student, he was a lecturer and we met on a course entitled "Politics and Philosophy in the Twentieth Century". Not exactly fertile ground for a romance, but it worked and we've now known each other for 16 years and been married for over 11.

Othersideofthechannel · 28/08/2007 12:31

Does it still make you blush to admit it in RL?

michaelad · 28/08/2007 12:33

on the internet (Lycos). Had our 5th wedding anniversary a week ago

Othersideofthechannel · 28/08/2007 12:34

Just wondering because no one seems bothered about the way we met. They tend to think it's funny if anything.

Lmccrean · 28/08/2007 12:46

In work - overheard his conversation about his theories on religious beliefs and remember thinking "Id love to chat to him about that some time"

claricebeansmum · 28/08/2007 13:00

Work.

Skirted around each other for a few months as we knew if it got messy it would be really tricky as very small company.

Our first date was to the opera and I stood him up as I was in hospital having emergency appendectomy. Asked surgeon if it was possible to postpone whilst I went to the opera for my "hot date" if I promised to come back later for op! .

Few weeks later on a drunken night out - he came back to mine and never really moved out.

Hurlyburly · 28/08/2007 13:05

I met my DH the way Bran did. Which is surprising.

bran · 28/08/2007 13:14

Those university bridge clubs are dens of iniquity aren't they Hurlyburly.

(Actually I'm pretty surprised too.)
