  1. The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. Know your worth.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Treat others as you'd like to be treated 12. Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with 13. The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future

Can I join on the bench? Been lurking but not feeling like posting. But I'm still very much here. And I love a baileys.

@bangheadhere40 if you sent the first mesage then you should prob ask him out 🤷🏼‍♀️ Don’t wait if you like him

Sunshineandflipflops · 22/12/2019 15:30

@shitwithsugaron Well done and may the healing commence. New year, new start.
How did he take it?

The meeting is done! We did an activity together in the city between us both and then went for lunch and a wander around some shops together. They seemed to get on well 😊

putastrawunderbaby · 22/12/2019 15:33

Thank you @tigerdater for those kind words

@shitwithsugaron and @unambiguousbeard shove up and I'll open the quality street.

The bloody fool man has changed his profile several times today to tell the world he's not looking for drama and people who take offence at everything etc. I need to stop stalking him - I blacklisted him FFS. I'm a nice person, why is this so hard???? Yes I'm bitterly wallowing for a moment. I don't care.

Oh @shitwithsugaron I'm so sorry 😢

At least this time it was done with affection between you and although it hurts like a bastard, it's better than how it ended before. Look after yourself xx

Sunshineandflipflops · 22/12/2019 15:41

@shitwithsugaron Thank you. I still every much want my time with the kids but yes, we can do stuff together sometimes now, which will be nice x

Peanutbuttermouth · 22/12/2019 16:24

@shitwithsugaron the Freedom programme is so bloody good I want everyone I know to do it! Honestly not an exaggeration to say it's changed my life.

It's hard to keep up with this thread it moves so fast 😄 but I think the last time I posted I had just dumped Mr E for still being active on dating apps despite saying he wasn't. Anyway I am SO GLAD I maintained my boundaries because a week later I met a new iron, Mr Curls, and I am utterly convinced that this is the man for me! I used to think it was ridiculous when people said "when you know you just know" because I'd never experienced it before but now I get it. The moral of the story is STICK TO THOSE BOUNDARIES!

To everyone else I hope that things are going well. It's a very tough time of year for dating.

Musti · 22/12/2019 16:42

Hi all. I've been following you for a while now. Been on and off online dating for a while and met up with and chatted to a man for the last few months. He said he's not taling to anyone else but I can see his tinder distance moving every few days so he's obviously on tinder?

UtterSocks · 22/12/2019 17:24

Awww @Peanutbuttermouth that is so good to hear. How do you just know though?

Most erm 'romantic' thing that happened to me today was being indecently propositioned by the (very much younger) guy who works in my newsagent. It happens a lot but he was particularly keen today and I looked like shit (jeans, parka, trainers, no make up and knotty hair).

I am beginning to think I should give him a go instead of second guessing all these flaky irons on OLD with their busy lives ... but then I'd have to drive another half a mile for milk once he's seen me naked Blush

dancemom · 22/12/2019 17:35

Down but not out bench for me too please!
A iron I thought had lots of potential seems to have turned flaky so I'm refusing to message him. Because if he wanted to message me he would right??
Urgh what a time to be single 😩

WanderingLost167 · 22/12/2019 17:42

So the date with Mr Gray was nice, got in well but not really any spark and he can't kiss 🙄

Bluezoo123 · 22/12/2019 17:52

just hopping on to say well done shit for doing the breaking up - for what it’s worth from what you had posted on here he was not worthy of you and I think you’ve done the right thing.
put sorry you are feeling down. I know that feeling of plastering a smile on your face to get through - keep going! My dc have gone off until Boxing Day and I’m working the next few days. Means I have a few relaxing child free evenings and my BF is here so that’s all good but it is still bittersweet. Plus my ds can be ‘tricky’ at times so nice for the rest but not nice not to have them Xmas eve and Xmas day.

Bluezoo123 · 22/12/2019 18:00

love forgot to say on one of your earlier posts - I am like you 5 years down the line and occasional things still sting although I’m happy with my bf and he is much better suited to me.

Jane1978xx · 22/12/2019 18:32

@crazycatlady20 thanks for the reply. It was one day he didn’t reply and he had his kids and was going his parents or something. We messages loads this morning 🤦‍♀️. Hate the paranoia 😂. Men prob do not care at all.

The ladies with the Older men irons it doesn’t really matter on age as long as you like them 🤷🏼‍♀️

@shitwithsugaron He was an arsehole to you. It doesn't matter how often, he was an arsehole to you x

supercali77 · 22/12/2019 19:14

@Musti by 'chatted to' do you mean met/slept with? I'm never sure these days

saltysally · 22/12/2019 19:22

Right down all those red flags and how the fights always seemed to be your fault @shitwithsugaron. Or the number of times you asked him to consider more than his own mental health and he still went back to being an arse....

You deserve so much better than him

saltysally · 22/12/2019 19:23

BTW have you blocked all his numbers yet?
