Has anyone ever heard of a Twin Flame and if so can I hear your experiences please?

As above then I have recently found out that there’s such a thing as a Twin Flame, this is apparently more than a soul mate, I’m not sure if I have found mine so I would like to hear about your experiences with your twin flame, if you have any?

Thanks, IF x

How does it work then? If your ‘twin flame’ is somebody you had a connection with in a previous life, I mean. Even if you get reincarnated at roughly the same time, what happens if your twin flame is in Botswana and you are in Huddersfield? Are you inexorably drawn together through language barriers?

OP: your suspected ‘twin flame’ sounds like an arse. Move on! Forget about spurious flamey soulmates.

CodenameVillanelle · 14/08/2019 23:29

Oh mate. No.

Standingonceremony · 14/08/2019 23:29

I find it twin flames/shipmates depressing and insulting.

Depressing because if there is only one person for me, the likelihood of me finding them is pretty much zero.

Insulting because it suggests that a relationship with the right person shpuld just work and shpuldn't need effort and commitment from both parties. Relationships, even with the right person are bloody hard work.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 14/08/2019 23:33

When a relationship is not working, it’s not working. No amount of faith or belief will make a man who’s not really interested in the relationship, suddenly be interested.
Sorry if you’re in this situation but it’s better to move on if you are.

MidnightMystery · 14/08/2019 23:36

A twin flame can be male, female, best friend , friend or your husband , wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, next door neighbour...

I think I've found my real twin flame 🔥

Inappropriatefemale · 14/08/2019 23:44

I’m not in a relationship with this man anymore, it was years ago and he is not in this country atm so he’s not ‘not interested’ or anything like that, all I said was that I was thinking about him, it’s not like I’ve reached out to him!

I’m also 38 so not young, can’t someone put a thread up as a bit of a ‘wonder’ without being insulted?!

Inappropriatefemale · 14/08/2019 23:45

Also, twin flames don’t necessarily work out as I have read, it’s just a term to describe someone that you have particular feelings for.

I wish I hadn’t bothered saying anything now.

Chocmallows · 14/08/2019 23:48

OP, I suspect you knew it was codswallop too?
Good for a debate though.

The male version of you would be your brother genetically speaking

PennyB40 · 14/08/2019 23:52

I think I’ve found my twin flame in a good book, a cup of tea and being left alone in peace.
I can get over early twenties women convincing themselves about this sort of shite, after a childhood spent watching Twilight and Disney. But, older women with more life experience believing this nonsense must either be desperate or very silly.

Obsidian77 · 14/08/2019 23:53

No such thing. And based on your relationship with your 'twin flame' flaming out, maybe you should be looking for someone who's not like you at all.
I would find it bloody exhausting to be in a relationship with someone just like me.

LemonPrism · 15/08/2019 00:08

If your relationship already hasn't started well then you're not twin flames, you're just trying to convince yourself you are because you like him but it's actually a shit relationship.

This is one way that people persuade themselves to stay in abusive relationships.

It's the evidence of a weak mind that thinks it's special.

chipsandgin · 15/08/2019 00:23

I can’t see how it could be true given the sheer insignificance of us on our tiny planet here for maybe 80 years each of we’re lucky? The logistics alone are impossible. Have a look at this (explains exactly how tiny Earth is..

..the thought that some cosmic admin department makes sure that you & Gary from accounting for example have been put here at the same time & have been bought together because of your twin souls is fanciful at best! Wishful thinking (or an excuse to stay with someone you know is a fuckwit!?)

overnightangel · 15/08/2019 00:25

“what happens if your twin flame is in Botswana and you are in Huddersfield?”

😂

AcrossthePond55 · 15/08/2019 00:26

'Twin flame', hooey!!

Relationships take work. Even the best of marriages, the best of friendships take work. It's nonsense to think you'll meet someone and bam! that's it everything will be hunky-dory.

DH and I were a case of 'love at first sight'. We met and both of us knew the other was 'the one' and we've now been married over 30 years. But 'twin flames'? Nah, just two people who knew what they wanted. We've had our rocky times and it wasn't some 'twin flame' that got us through them. It was love, faith in each other, and hard work.

Don't waste time looking for some 'mystical connection'. Look for the person who loves you, shares your values, and wants the same things as you do. That's the only 'flame' you need.

HalfManHalfLabrador · 15/08/2019 00:31

Twin Flamw Hmm sounds like a load of bollocks to me

HalfManHalfLabrador · 15/08/2019 00:32

*Twin Flame

Gamble66 · 15/08/2019 01:22

It's just teenage mill's and boon thinking. All relationships take work

TheClitterati · 15/08/2019 01:36

Twin flame sounds like the non binary of "soul mates".

I think the idea of soul mates is utter bollocks.

Shoxfordian · 15/08/2019 06:23

I thought twin flame was that hotel in Azerbaijan

I don't believe in soulmates

Schwibble · 15/08/2019 06:49

Skyejuly · 15/08/2019 06:52

There will be lots of dismissive posts here about this subject but dont be disheartened. My whole life changed when I met mine.

What I would say is look for synchronisity in your life and you will start to notice what you need to do
Xx

BillywilliamV · 15/08/2019 07:02

Yeah, have friend who left husband, destroying the lives of her 3 boys for her twin flame. He’s cheated on her constantly for twenty years, had a kid with another woman...but they are born to be together!

ChristmasFluff · 15/08/2019 08:26

I find the whole Twin Flame thing is quite dangerous - it leads people to stay longer in on-ff relationships that, as you describe, OP, are often that way because at least one person in the relationship is screwed up.

At its worst, the Twin Flame concept is a sort of spiritual excuse for abusive people - and for their victims to stay in those abusive relationships. Trauma bonding feels incredibly like the description of Twin Flame relationships.

When you read the description of Twin Flame relationships they are not ones that healthy people would stay in.

I am a whole soul and person, not a half of anything - just like we all are.

SoyDora · 15/08/2019 08:29

It’s definitely not made up, there is lots of information on Google about it, and you tube, imo it is the same as a soul mate really

The concept of ‘twin flame’ and ‘soul mate’ have both been made up by someone though!

SoyDora · 15/08/2019 08:30

Jade74 just because you believe it, doesn’t mean it’s true! Or that it’s not rubbish.
In my opinion, it’s bollocks. In your opinion, it’s a real thing. Doesn’t mean either of us are right.
