trustmygut almost minutes before I popped on this thread I received an email from the Police Owl Messaging service warning anyone who is at present using online dating sites not for any reason to send money. It is apparently a scam that is very prevalent at the moment and several people have lost a lot of moment!

That is supposed to say money!

Hi not sure if any of you will remember me I was on the threads at the beginning of the year. Well I met someone and after a whirlwind romance we are getting married next week

It will be 5 months on our wedding day which is pretty quick but we just clicked from the outset there was never any doubts of questions we met fell in love and decided to just go with it.

If you'd said before I met him that I'd get married I'd have said you were nuts.

trustmy don't beat yourself up . There are so many catfish out there that I now delete anyone who has dodgy, stilted English in profiles or first messages (I hate myself for doing this but lesson learned). Also, if I have suspicions I double check with them where they live by saying something like 'Oh yes, I know it, I used to go to the xxx pub on the corner' (made up name). If they don't come back with 'what on earth do you mean?' or they just ignore, I've got me a catfish.

Oh and trustmy, I would avoid Kik for messaging as it's got a dodgy rep. I was very nervous about using WhatsApp at first but it's fine, easy to delete and to block.

I think I've definitely dodged a bullet! I've blocked everything and need to live up to my username more in future! I'm usually so savvy on this kind of thing and would be considered quite tough in "real life"!

A few years ago I was a juror on a murder trial. Mr Smile has just sent me a photo where he looks so similar to the murderer. 😁😱 Murderer was very clean looking/ worked in corporate environment so thought he'd get away with it - just in case you now had an image Mr S looks like a thug.

@trustmygut I'm sorry to hear about what's happened. Please stay here and 'talk' to us if you feel you can't talk to anyone in real life. Could you complain about this guy on your dating site / app. I noticed quite a few guys removed from Match for being a 'bad egg' (their words) including a good-looking young guy chatting to me from a Turkish hospital who was visiting his poorly father (yes I think we know where that was going.....)

My Mr R stands for Mr Runner. For some reason I prefer to say Mr R in case Mr Runner is outing but considering lots of men run it's probably a fairly anonymous nickname. I do sometimes have to stop myself telling real life friends about Mr R and have to think before I use his real name.

Anyway it's Mr Rs birthday in a couple of weeks and I'd like to get him a present. We've been together over 3 months now and things still seem to be going well. Can I ask men in your 40s what you would consider nice clothing brands? I'm mainly thinking of nice casual shirts. Budget maybe £50? Maybe a bit more?

stealth one of the few things I miss about my idiot XH is buying clothes for him - so I still do (otherwise he dresses like a tramp and embarrasses my DC)! I find the polos at Next are good quality and a reasonable price.

I have been lurking for a while and finally decided to start dating again. On the apps and got one iron, Mr Newbie. Been on two dates in a week! Got a third set up, but I'm having doubts he doesn't want anything serious and only wants a fwb, as only suggests hanging out. Not heard from him today and tempted to cancel as dont want to get hurt. I have been out of the game awhile after falling for a drunken fwb that ended badly.

@StealthNinjaMum it’s mr locals birthday on Tuesday but we both have kids. I’ve just booked an overnight stay for next month. Bit more expensive but I get to benefit too!! Stole someone’s idea- maybe Jesuis? And got him the lovehunny scratch cards and another fun item! to open on the day.
His kids are up for 2 weeks now so I will meet and our kids will all meet. I met his mum today. All a bit scary and quick but feels so natural. Eek!
